LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
RODDY replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Its a nice looking set don’t get me wrong but to me it’s a bit small for $200 and I usually don’t complain about pricing. Like at $150 - $175 i would consider it but it’s just not a set imo that needs a UCS rendition. -
Can we stop arguing over a kid’s book in an adult forum? Thanks
-
Oh whoops sorry for the false alarm
-
Rabbit Patronus leaked! Looks superb! Really hoping that Room of Requirements connects in some fashion to the rest of the castle.

Yeah but this isn’t even fair, the Hungarian Horntail came in a thirty dollar set where these ones are double if not triple the price of the First Task Set which was $30 with 4 minifigs with a bunch of new prints and a tent. For what it is the Hungarian Horntail is fine. Any bigger and it won’t scale well with the system scale Hogwarts. A $90 Horntail would be very odd against the Great Hall. On a different topic, when were the Aug 1st sets revealed last year? I’m planning on either buying the entire wave and the minifig series or Diagon Alley on Day 1, then buy the rest on Christmas.

THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!
RODDY replied to Another Brick In The Wall's topic in LEGO Pirates
Gorgeous set definitely going to pick it up! I already loved the original but this is even better because the colors pop a bit more and being a 2-1 set is an incredibly brilliant idea! Does Lego make the set available for purchase on midnight or a random time on their website? -
I’m betting release time remains the same but the way things are going no one knows for sure. Usually I go out on release date to pick them up which was a really nice tradition but I’ll probably order them from online this year. I foresee a huge surge in Lego Shop sales since they are still open and Lego Stores are closed.

My money is on Lockhart being in the D2C Diagon Alley with his blue attire. As for the remaining 7: 1) Lupin with his tan suit 2) Couch Slughorn 3) Quidditch Ron 4) Cat Hermione 5) Madame Pomfrey 6) Green Suit Sirius Black 7) Tonks

I’m not gonna go into too much detail because a lot of you guys already have echoed my sentiments, but color me impressed, Lego HP has somehow managed to go beyond and above yet again. And I thought last year was amazing, these minifigs are in a whole new ballgame. I need that Dumbledore and Fawkes ASAP. Also weird that we have both Myrtle and Riddle yet still no Lockhart.
-
Ah yes this is phenomenal news! It has to be a minifig Diagon Alley right? Very healthy piece count justifies the price about a 1,000 pieces per store if it’s based off the GWP. Also this could be a way to get the missing Death Eaters and a Lockhart if they do what they did with UCS Falcon. Now my wallet is relieved there is no CMF this year or I would have been broke! Day 1 purchase for me, I’ll wait in line for it!

Boba’s helmet looks incredible, the stormtrooper however has something off with the mouth grille or whatever you call it. Not gonna buy because there are other sets that I’d rather have but cool nonetheless. -
Maybe it’s a Monkey Kid CMF, would be a cool way to kick off a new theme.

No offense but there is literally a line in POA that says Hermione is white: “Hermoine’s white face was sticking out from behind a tree.” It’s not racism, it’s a really dumb inconsistency, a contrived attempt to be inclusive. There’s nothing wrong with being inclusive, it’s just comes off fake when you are changing established lore to fit an agenda just like Dumbledore gay. But this is a Lego thread, not a thread discussing JK’s insanity.

I don’t know if I can survive another year without a Lockhart minifigure... Please tell there is a Diagon Alley D2C with his blue outfit, please let this be true...

Green was in 2012, yellow one in 2014. You also run into the same problem with having two yellow Anakin’s star fighters on the market at the same time. At least the green one could give us some different minifigs to differentiate it from the other one and be a different shade. -

The green would be great because we can get some awesome minifigs like ROTS Padme or Nute Gunray or maybe even Wat Tambor. Would pair well with the Mustafar duel as well -

It’s... it’s gorgeous. Have about $100 in VIP and was originally planning on using for Ninjago City but since it retired, now I’m gonna use it for the majestic Razorcrest -

Begun, the hype has. -
Do you all think there’s a chance that Slughorn’s hourglass could potentially make it into the Astronomy Tower set since it has Slughorn’s office? It would be a really neat piece to get.

Personally I think this necessarily isn’t Lego’s fault, it’s more Disney’s fault. They probably ask for a lot of money back to use the license. Just look at Harry Potter another huge licensed theme and it’s night and day. Sets are cheap and at worst fairly priced and everybody is so happy on that thread it’s absolutely amazing. I don’t think it’s coincidental that the last good year was 2013 when Disney bought Lucasfilm. And Lego knowing they still had to make a bottom line probably looked through their history and picked to put out the most reliable good sellers to produce the most weatherproof strategy. That’s why we keep getting repeat after repeat ad nausea. Lego Star Wars not in the top 6 is inexcusable so to combat this that’s why I think we have more variety this year though at a premium. What I find interesting is the potential for Lego to renegotiate their license saying that the ST hurt the Star Wars brand, lowering its value in the next couple of years. Because Star Wars in 2013 isn’t what it Star Wars in 2020 is. Fandom is divided and the toy industry is taking the hit. Maybe then they can get better terms. -

I don’t see less sets as a bad thing myself saves money and makes it easier to collect. Also we could get better quality of sets and more variety like this current wave seems to indicate. Give me less sets if they are better sets and are of locations and vehicles we haven’t seen in a while or never existed. Harry Potter line has been doing this extremely well so maybe take a page from them. -
