  1. This is absolutely phenomenal! Normally its all trains with me, but I got recommended to look at this and it is well worth it! Any chance of a top down view / view from above of the moc, might be quite difficult to pull off I know, but I'd love to get an idea of the proportionality of certain aspects of the build! Thanks!
  2. Just been looking up previous times Lego made converter cables, and also aftermarket and home made ways of connecting things! - Never knew this even existed, but Lego made a converter cable between NXT and 9V. Therefore, if used in conjuction with the 9v to PF cable (8886) its possible to power a PF motor off an NXT... Also, there's a way of doing NXT to PF directly: Thus, this involves less cables! - This might help upon studying! As for Boost to 9V and PF, Jorge Pereira has found a way and posted it on Youtube: - Overall, I imagine some form of converter cable from PF2 to PF1 will happen, looking at past examples, we just need to make sure Lego knows there is demand for it! Although, I'm sure they can see from the sales of 8886 that there's people out there that like compatibility! - Hope that helped a little / opened some new ideas to people! - Haha, we stumbled across the same video!
  3. And this: Sorry it looks dreadful, my photoshop skills on a phone are less than ideal!
  4. I hope I don't have to cut wires, get out a soldering iron, and make my own Y cables, etc! I hope Lego have thought this all through properly!
  5. I've got a Horizon Express with 4 motors and 10 (yes 10!) lights, ideally I want to be able to repeat this kind of feat in the future, for example with the new passenger train! Hope TLG has thought about that!
  6. I just really hope that: 1. TLG bring out a converter cable so I can use all my PF1 motors still. 2. TLG bring out a Y cable so more than one motor or lights can used, i.e. of the 2 ports, one for lights, one for motors. 3. TLG bring out a pole reverser / direction switch with the new plug ends, so I can have motors going it opposite directions like I'm able to do currently...
  7. According to something I read a few days ago, but am now struggling to find, I believe: Plus there was the date on that basic info sheet, think that might be refering to the same release date. Hope it is, then it'll be out in time for my birthday!
  8. Ikr, imagine if it was... They'd sell out! It would be a set looked back on for generations of Lego train fans as an absolute classic!
  9. Hi Woopud, It is really as a consequence of the length of train bases Lego currently makes, either 6×24 studs (like in 60051) or 6×28 studs (like in 60052 and 60098), thus everything seems a bit short! Personally, I extend the locomotives, carriages and wagons Lego makes in their offical sets by c. 4 to 8 studs, then they look just fine! Just takes a little bit of modification. Another option is to build custom things, like I've been doing for years, though it takes some getting used to. If you're not very confident with building mocs, or need some help getting started, please feel free to ask! I'm sure myself and fellow Eurobricks users will be able to answer most questions!
  10. That would be sacrilege! Imagine the cost these days of 10194 plus 5 extra carriages relative to the couple of 60051 sets that were needed! And as you can see from the fails video, many rebuilds and broken parts were sustained just to get one shot! Think of the poor train windows! To be honest, I would want to see that too!
  11. Do you mean Bananenbuurman? He's a different guy! This is the video, for those who don't know:
  12. This only works with the 'plastic clear' ones, if handled carefully! Don't try the paper ones, it'll cause them to deteriorate! The clue is in the fact they're paper based!
  13. No problem! Really wonderful builds, definitely deserve the coverage they're getting now! Please feel free to post about any of your mocs both past, present and future, you can see the reception they've been getting! I'm sure people would love to see more! Thanks for dropping by, we hope to see more of you!
  14. No, unfortunately I don't, not sure why as I'm often on Flickr looking at other people's mocs! Just a thought, does anyone here speak Polish, as they could comment in the thread mentioned by @Bartosz
  15. Good idea! Sure he'll love to see the appreciation for his models! Just posted a comment on the video that prompted me to start this topic with a link to this page, hope he sees it and pops over to join us!
  16. Also have a look at his Tkt48, the way the cab is built is ingenious, got to try that technique at some point! I'm just astonished by these models!
  17. Just found this new video of a Polish Pm36-1 steam locomotive by Fasolic ( @solic ). I've not seen any coverage given to it, and it is a marvellous model, very much got LNER A4 vibes! Love the Dark Blue colour and the integration of full PF in the loco! Anyone know its history?
  18. Hi @jonwil, I run an Emerald Night with a 9v motor under the tender and had some problems with that to begin with. As has already been mentioned, the best piece of advice for all tender driven locos is adequate weight! I suggest anywhere between 2 and 4 boat weights worth of weight to gain better traction. (I used 4 for EN!) As for the connecting rods and motion in general, definitely have a play around and experiment with angles, heights and distances within parameters that you feel don't too drastically effect the look of the model! Another thought, have you considered slight lubrication around the black axles through the grey bricks? Some people are very much against it, but it can help in the right circumstances to reduce friction. Hope that helps!
  19. I believe so, but I can't be sure. I can't see why they wouldn't be... (I last ordered some wheels many months ago when postage was $5, its now $15...) I haven't seen many people on youtube for example buying wheels as of late except a couple in America, but even that was a good few weeks ago. If you live in Europe it really isn't particularly cost effective with customs/import tax on top, in my opinion. Personally I recommend having a look at train wheel designs people have on Shapeways (3d printing, etc), especially if you need anything with different number of spokes or different diameter (with or without motion pin hole). Even though BBB's wheels are very good quality, I would definitely recommend you shop around a bit! Here's an example of the kind of stuff out there! (This is from Jeffinslaw on Flickr)
  20. For me, I'm absolutely fine with no track! (I intend to buy many copies of 75955, mainly to make a decent length heavily modified train, but also just generally for some of the incredibly useful parts this set includes!) I think it was a smart move on the front of TLG, as it keep the cost down of the set, thus making it more accessible to a greater number of people. Also, for some Harry Potter fans, they want a good looking Hogwarts Express, but may not want to run the train and just have it on display thus it suits that market. Track packs are relatively inexpensive, so that should keep most happy enough, and for those hardcore 9V people out there, like myself, it means we don't have to acquire too much of 'Satan's Track'! I just can't wait for the release of this!!!
  21. On you mentioning that, I'm intending on building one too! I was trying to find the post I've seen where I got the idea for my version, think it was this picture in particular: Wonderful! (Though a little off topic!) ?
