DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
spiderfan2000 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Assuming the Batcave gets officially revealed in May, it will feel like a very slow couple months to wait if we don't get any details on the set between now and then. I don't even know where to set my expectations. -

I'm hoping they actually incorporate Quidditch into the gameplay this time. -

I feel like if LEGO ever did a Stegosaurus, they would reuse the lower body piece they introduced for the Ankylosaurus, plus use the Anylosaurus/Triceratops legs. Pachycephalosaurus would probably just be Stygimoloch with a new head. Compsognathus might just be the baby dinosaur mold recolored. -

Hopefully The Lost World can eventually get a wave of sets like this. That movie had plenty of vehicles and locations that could easily translate into sets. -

So I guess it's another Ellie Sattler included alongside Muldoon in the Velociraptor set, meaning she's in 4/5 sets of the wave. -

I guess the Brachiosaurus won't be able to stand on it's hind legs if I'm interpreting Promobrick's newest story correctly? -

If we don't get any DoD sets, I might start wondering if LEGO has something against Mads Mikkelsen... -

I'm definitely hoping the CMF series has 18 minifigures too. There will be more content to cover than the first series did, and 18 would still be evenly distributed in a box of 36, with the Disney 100th series demonstrating that they are still willing to do an 18 minifigure series. -

Considering the Flash set essentially must have Keaton Batman and the Flash at minimum, if we get a third figure (which would break the pattern set by four different Batmobile sets with two minifigures included that were released since 2019), I'd be very surprised if it wasn't Supergirl. If it's Zod, he'd probably be a downgrade from the 2013 version, as I doubt he'd get leg printing this time, and they probably wouldn't bring back the specialized armor pieces after last getting them an entire decade ago. The Batcave has way more unknown variables in play for the minifigure selection, which is why I'm so eager to start getting information on it -

The minifigure selection will determine a decent portion of my interest, which makes me hope that the number of new figure prints is closer to Rivendell's than the Daily Bugle's. Hopefully within the next month we'll start getting more information on the set. -

I went through out of curiosity to see how many villains and Bat-Family members from the 2008 LEGO Batman: The Videogame we haven't gotten as minifigures as of currently. That list would consist of: Mad Hatter Hush Azrael (can be built in character creator) Spoiler (can be built in character creator) Black Mask (can be built in character creator) If we include those who are DS exclusive, there would also be: Mr. Zsasz Ventriloquist I'd be pleased if the Batcave can include at least a few of those characters. -

It'd be cool if the Batcave had a reference to the Gray Ghost somewhere in it. -

Well, I wasn't expecting to see so many riddles here. Now all we need is for someone with actual knowledge of the set to contribute. I have little confidence that will actually happen, but it'd be neat. -

Well, that would be fitting. Maybe not quite as much if it turns out the Riddler isn't included, but still. It'd be nice to have something to go off of for trying to figure out who gets included, and it doesn't exactly help that we don't even have confirmation which version of the Batcave this is going to be (though at a $450 price, it doesn't make much sense for it to be anything other than a comics version, or maybe a BTAS version) -

I wonder if we'll be able to get the gradual line of clues and confirmations of minifigures in the Batcave prior to the official reveal, similar to what was done with the Daily Bugle (that started around when? March?), or if those sort of specific details are being kept under tighter wraps from insiders. I did think that made things a bit more fun in the lead up to actually seeing the set. -

That could actually work well, considering I'm pretty sure that Batcave retained a lot of the iconic stuff like the giant penny, T-Rex, and giant Joker card in its trophy room. Plus there would still be potential for getting Mad Hatter, Ventriloquist, black and white suit Two-Face, and minifigure Clayface in such a set. The main weakness would be that a BTAS Batcave wouldn't really be able to include any new Bat-Family members we haven't gotten any version of in the past, as well as ruling out a handful of villains that never appeared in the show, such as Hush or Black Mask. That said, if the new prints for skyline minifigures would be using this set's budget, it would essentially require a Rivendell-sized budget to get more than just a couple other minifigures beyond 4-5 of the skyline minifigures. -

This set would likely lose my interest quickly if it isn't comic based. A Keaton Batcave would be neat at a $100-150 price point, but there isn't nearly as much that could be included to fill out a $450 set of that Batcave. Heck, I'm not 100% certain if I'll buy the set even if it's comic based at this point with all the other D2C sets coming out this year. -

Muldoon is very likely turning up for the Velociraptor set, but I am a bit disappointed that him and Wu might be the only JP93 minifigures in this wave that we didn't already get in a previous set. Gennaro and Dr. Harding should have been included too. I'm hoping that the second minifigure in the Velociraptor set is Gennaro, or at least a generic park worker. Basically anything other than another Alan Grant. -

So it seems like overall, Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Joker, Harley Quinn and Penguin are the characters most likely capable of being repeated for the Batcave, as they were available in 2021-2022 sets (or magazines in the case of Robin). I'd hope they held onto the 2020 Nightwing to still be usable, as I'd be disappointed if they had to use part of their new print budget on him, unless it was a drastically different design like his classic costume. If they include Catwoman, I'd similarly hope that the 2019 one is still usable, to avoid another arguably wasted new printing slot. Alfred should only need a couple new prints if they do something similar to the aforementioned LDCSV game version (though probably without leg printing) I predict we'll see Red Hood, who will definitely need new prints after a seven year absence, though I still think the recent comic design that Spin Master used for their figure line could be a decent choice to get something distinct from the 2016 minifigure. I'd be surprised if we didn't get Tim Drake, and getting a Red Robin variation of him would be worth using a couple new prints for. Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, and Azrael would be my top picks for completely new Bat-Family characters. Civilian variants of some Bat-Family members would be neat to get, though I don't think I'd want LEGO to use the new print budget on them, and I wouldn't be too bothered if they were absent altogether. My top picks for revamped villains: Black and white suit Two-Face, Vidiyo slime head Clayface, and 2021 bigfig mold Bane. My top picks for completely new villains: Mad Hatter, Ventriloquist, Hush, and Black Mask. My hope is that they have a larger new print budget than the Bugle (maybe even somewhat close to Rivendell's if we're lucky) and make the most of the minifigure selection with this set, unless they plan on being more consistent with comic Batman sets going forward. It'd be disappointing if we don't get any new villains (For me, one of the biggest downfalls of the Daily Bugle was that unless you count Black Cat as a villain, every villain included was one we'd gotten previously) -

A look on Brickset indicates that Robin was included with magazines in 2021-2022, and probably has a good chance of still being available to reuse as well. -

Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure the latest Marvel wave brought back the same Outrider minifigure prints that were last seen in 2019, so I definitely wouldn't rule out minifigures from about that far back being reused, especially considering LEGO presumably started working on the D2C a few years ago. -

I'm guessing: Batman, Robin (Damian), Alfred, Nightwing, Barbara Gordon as either Batgirl or Oracle, Red Hood, Red Robin (Tim Drake), hopefully some new characters like Azrael, Spoiler, and a version of Cassandra Cain, probably some number of civilian variants of the Bat-Family, I could also see Lucius Fox being included. For villains, Joker and Harley seem very likely. A repeat of the 2019 Catwoman would probably be worth including, looking at it's current online prices. I'd like to see any of the following included: Two-Face (black and white suit), Bane with the 2021 bigfig mold, minifigure Clayface with Vidiyo slime head, Mad Hatter, Hush, Ventriloquist, Black Mask -

I'm guessing we'll get a bigfig Bane and/or molded T-Rex to explain the higher price per piece. I'm really hoping we get at least a few new Bat-Family members. There should be some villain presence, whether it be framed as an attack on the Batcave like previous sets or include some sort of training simulation room to justify it. I just want to see something new for the villains. I'd probably be happy just to get accessories like Mad Hatter's hat or Scarface if it meant making purist customs would be easier. -

Hopefully. I would assume that Super Heroes has the highest chance of being the poll winner, unless I'm vastly underestimating how much people want D2C info for Icons and Ideas/Architecture.
