Sonic the Hedgehog - Rumours and Discussion

Next year would be a good opportunity for LEGO to do a Sonic 35th anniversary CMF series, though I'm not sure how likely it is that they'd go for it. -
Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion

I do like that we've been getting more location builds for Spider-Man sets this year instead of the random Spider-vehicles that felt like they dominated the line for a while. Definitely feels more fitting for Peter "Late on Rent" Parker, and the buildings could be fun to display together. Even the train would be pretty easy to fit into a display with the rest of the 2025 sets. Hopefully these location builds will continue to be the main approach used for future Spider-Man sets. -

I guess the Egg Crusher might be the closest thing we'll get to an official set from Sonic Prime. The Extreme Gear for Knuckles is a neat addition too. The Burrobot and Caterkiller are good additions to the Badnik collection, though the continued lack of Orbot is baffling at this point. Rather disappointing that there's not a single new minifigure (not even any new face prints from the looks of it) in this wave. I'm hoping that 2026 makes up for it, considering the 35th anniversary of the series should be the time for LEGO to go all out. I'm hoping that the Chao Garden reference in the Command Truck is a hint of what is to come for 2026. -

Considering we don't get that many new characters a year, I'm not really expecting comic characters to get LEGO minifigures unless the theme lasts long enough to get most of the notable game characters done first, and/or LEGO does a CMF series. -

It seems like the two January 2026 sets are going to be 6+, so I don't think they will be very large or complex builds. I think the Speed Sphere Challenge and the Tails Workshop/Tornado Plane were 6+ sets, so I'm expecting something along the lines of those in terms of how substantial the builds will be, though hopefully with a couple new minifigures included. -

At this point, I've ended up with almost all the minifigure scale Sonic sets, including the Ideas set. The only sets I haven't gotten yet are the Balkiry polybag, the Egg Drillster,, and the Biolizard. -

Big and Cream would definitely be good to get this year, considering that would get Team Rose finished. Throw in a brick built Omega in the mix and Team Dark could also get completed. I feel like LEGO would be more likely to do Sonic Heroes inspired sets before Sonic 06 (plus Egg Emperor and Metal Overlord could make for great sets), but I'm not entirely sure. -

An actual Giganto would definitely make for a more impressive set than the Giganto car from Crossworlds, even if the latter would be funny to see. Plus they could reuse the Super Sonic minifigure again. Crossworlds having about 23 characters in its base roster should put a decent number back in the spotlight again. -

Considering that the budget for new molded parts seems limited enough already, I'd be perfectly fine with Sage getting a standard minifigure head, as I don't think she needs a new molded head nearly as much as most other characters in the series. -

Looks like a new Sonic Racing game has been announced... I wonder if LEGO will attempt to make anything based on it next year, considering the vehicles seem like they'd translate into sets fairly easily. -

I was able to get a good deal on the Sonic's Speed Sphere Challenge, as well as the Ideas set. Both are pretty neat additions to my collection, though I might've passed on getting the Speed Sphere Challenge if I hadn't found it for significantly lower than the retail price. I underestimated how many 1x1 plates the Ideas set had, but it added quite a bit of extra detail. As of now, my collection consists of: Ideas Green Hill Zone Kiki's Coconut Attack (x4) Sonic's Speed Sphere Challenge Amy's Animal Rescue Island Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot Shadow's Escape Sonic's Campfire Clash I'll have to see how the summer wave ends up looking. -

I was able to order the Amy's Animal Rescue Island set for under $35, so that's another set I now have on the way. The Shadow Escape set was one of the first I picked up for the theme, and I agree that it was definitely a fun little set to start with. -

I now have a Death Egg Robot set on the way. There's a decent chance I'll pick up the Biolizard at some point eventually. The Egg Drillster probably depends on if I can get a good enough deal on it, now that Super Sonic is no longer exclusive to it. -

I was able to find an unopened Death Egg Robot set for a bit under the original retail price, so I went ahead and ordered it. Now to wait for it to arrive... The brickbuilt figure does rather off from what I've seen in pictures. I definitely don't see myself using that as my main Eggman, especially now that I'll have the minifigure version soon. -

That's pretty neat! I guess the Ideas set, both with or without extra stuff added, seems to have great display potential. -

As a note, aside from the Kiki polybag, the only other two sets from this theme I picked up so far are the Shadow's Escape and the Sonic's Campfire Clash sets. If I see the Balkiry polybag show up at a store in my area, I'm sure I'll also pick that up on sight. -

I guess I might also have to keep an eye out for the Ideas set while it is still reasonably easy to find. -

Mainly in terms of builds. I've only just started dabbling in the theme after recently picking up the Kiki polybag set on a whim. I'll have to keep the Death Egg Robot in mind. -

Now that we've gotten several waves of Sonic sets, what does everyone think the best sets of the theme are so far? -

Maybe we could get a comic Madame Web minifigure? We did eventually get a comic Morbius after all... -

Maybe there aren't Ultron Sentries in the set? If that's the case, 76287 might only have the Iron Legion, or maybe it's a Iron Legion vs. HYDRA set, with repeats of the 2021 HYDRA trooper, considering that both were present in the opening of Age of Ultron, even if they didn't directly fight, and would make slightly more sense than a Iron Legion vs. Ultron Sentry set would. -

I'm still hoping that we get the Black Lake variants of Fleur and Gabrielle instead of repeats of the versions from the last Carriage set. I'm not sure where else we could get the Black Lake variants otherwise (at least while the Black Lake set is still available), and I'd be pretty annoyed if we only ended up getting three out of the four champions from that scene. -

Looks like What If? season 3 will feature at least two mechs. I wonder if LEGO will do sets for them...
