We have Ikea furniture from that era, too, the desk in particular. The veneer is thicker and the pieces are sturdier. Again, great build! Cheers! Beverly

Very nicely done. Sorry for the intrusive question, but your curved office desk looks familiar. Is it from Ikea? Cheers! Beverly

Great idea to re-use the LEGO boxes. Anything to cut costs and prevent more stuff from going into landfills.

Looks great. I love when themes are mashed up. The only thing I may have done differently was copy that one curve of the white bottom window frame onto the top white window frame. I hope that makes sense. Cheers! Beverly

Who has time to count sets, brick or figs? I'm too busy looking for good sales, sorting what I buy, then building MOCs or MODs - but not necessarily in that order. Cheers! Beverly

I didn't want to spend much on storage because my goal is to build with LEGO rather than collect it, so I went in an unconventional direction for storing my figs and brick. Living in a one bedroom apartment condo, I didn't want to see plastic bins everywhere. Granted, I do have some plastic, but I've done my best to conceal my LEGO in non-plastic storage solutions. MOCs and MODs are stored in 6' tall cabinets with adjustable shelves in both my living room and bedroom. These two MOD apartment towers are usually stored right up against each other to conserve space, and are wrapped in clear plastic bags to keep dust at an absolute minimum. They're usually smooshed up against each other to conserve space: I recently shot a couple of videos demonstrating the use of card stock to create trays that are nested in non-plastic boxes and plastic bins. Standard 8.5' x 11" card stock can be measured and cut into any size necessary. Glue, staples and/or paper clips can hold the trays together in any configuration you need. Card stock is inexpensive when purchased in larger packages from the big box stationary store, and is less environmentally impactful than plastic. The non-plastic storage boxes came from a big box craft store. While the box pattern isn't particularly my favourite, there were lots of them and I got them at 60% off. Each box has a discreet label telling me what's inside. The plastic boxes, labeled with paper, came from a big box department store quite awhile back. I'd had stashed away from a previous project and decided to use them, even though they weren't what I'd seen other people for LEGO. Then, there is the table with castors that I use for storing brick. When I'm not actively building or sorting brick, the table easily relocates from dining room to bedroom. An extra storage box area was attached below the table to maximize how that space could be used. I know. My storage solutions aren't grand or earth-shattering, but they're inexpensive and useful for my situation. Cheers! Beverly

[MOC] Expanding 41037 Stephanie's Beach House
beverly888 replied to TheBuildingBlock's topic in LEGO Town
I forgot Stephanie's Beach House was light yellow, which is the same yellow as the High School released around the same time. I'll have to pull my sets out to see how I can re-purpose the pieces. I really like how LEGO did the kitchen/dining lights. Your MOD is looking good as far as you've gone. Cheers! Beverly -
Bwahahahahaaaaa! Composed new music of the sinister kind and re-cut the video. Hope you enjoy! Beverly

I'm not sure I've embedded the video correctly. Suggestions would be appreciated. One of my favourite mini-figs is the Unicorn Girl whose superpower is Running With Scissors Cheers! Beverly

When I first saw the new faces on the mini-dolls, I was dead set against them. But after spending a whole lot of time with a variety of mini-figs and mini-dolls from many themes over the holidays, I've come to accept and embrace the changes. All things in life change. Cheers! Beverly

NALUG, the Northern Alberta Lego Users Group, participated in a New Year's Eve family event where the theme was superheroes. Being new to NALUG, I decided to volunteer my time and a build or two to better get to know the good folks in the group. But where could I start with that theme with my main interest being Friends? So, I bought a few DC Superhero Girls sets and a few Micro Minis that were on sale before Christmas, and hoped for the best. On Christmas Eve, my son-in-law and granddaughter helped build the smaller sets, but I was still struggling to create a MOC out of two larger DC sets. Aaarrgghh! What to do?! Then, a friend dropped by. He asked an innocent question - was I going to use the rotating base I bought a couple of months ago? Well, yes, I'd forgotten about that, and wasn't the rotating base perfect to use Amethyst Tower as the main feature of my display? A 48 by 48 stud base, plus 118 mini-figs, mini-dolls and pets from a variety of themes later, my display was finished. It was delightful and devious fun transforming non-superhero figures into heroes. Plus, I couldn't believe I'd assembled such a huge (to me) variety of mini-figs and mini-dolls. Here are a few scenes from Amethyst Tower, Where Almost Everyone Is A Superhero - shot in my home studio... If you'd like to view a video posted on New Year's Eve, please visit: Amethyst Tower Instagram Video. More photos and a video from my studio to come! Cheers, and Happy New Year! Beverly

Well done. If anything, perhaps add a few more details on the back shelf and on the grill. Love the CMF, too. Cheers! Beverly

It's heartening to hear all the positive comments on the Friends changes. The new pieces, updated colours, and evolving themes are well done. But, I'm aghast at what they did to the faces - particularly changing the eye colour and face shape on some of the minidolls. Having glasses is cool. Updating clothing makes their characters more interesting. We'll see if my attitude changes as time passes, but I'm not hopeful. Cheers! Beverly

A wonderful build. So many interesting details they're hard to list. For starters, I very much admire the black light standard. Thanks so much for sharing! Beverly
