Do you have a lot of LEGO sets, which occupy a lot of living space? Yes. MISB Boxes count for over 80. Most quite big. Did you buy many LEGO sets, but never open. and keep it unopened for years? (thinking about resale, regift, part-out LATER, but never happened?) Yes. Still got unopened stuff from as far as 2008. All bought to be built. Lacking space and time. Some end resold because of lost interest. Did you buy many LEGO used pieces but still sitting in the bins and never have time to sort them out? Not really. When I buy pieces, I use. Do you have have many unfinished MOCs from..like years? No. Do you keep all the instruct books, all the boxes..even the LEGO club magazines. the sticker sheets and LEGO catalogs? even the plastic number bags?? Just instructions, catalogs, magazines and posters. Do you think "I have too many LEGO pieces" but still buy some more when you think it is cheap enough? Depends. I like to take advantage of a good promo, but only ocasionally. Really depends on budget avaiable more than on the opportunity. Do you not only buy some LEGO sets. but also some watches, key chain, playing cards, magnet or even eraser/notebook? Key-chains because I also collect that out of LEGO. Bought a NinjaGo wallet and foam Sword, but appart from that it's all pieces.

Those are most definetly some great pieces of LEGO Mosaic work there. Iron Man is definetly my favorite. And yes you're totally right when you say gray scales are better - I have done one Mosaic like that and I still think it's way better than all the others I made with colors. Keep going :)

Lego Mosaic - Girl with a pearl earring Vermeer
PocasNuckie replied to alanboar HK's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow wow wow! As a fellow Mosaic builder I can only be happy that more and more people are entering this great artistic side of LEGO! Although on the other side I am not sure I want more competition on my side ah! :P Your work is really great and the similiarities to the original are really top ( even though that doesn't surprise me at all because I know the full capabilities of what we can do when it comes to Mosaics a little better than the average guy). I see you've not limited yourself to using 1x1 plates, that's actually good (even though the 8000 piece count looks a bit low at the eye, since i've done stuff from 9000 to over 16000) and something I am currently working on too because it saves a lot of work and obviously money (even though the preprocessing of the Mosaic is a bit more complicated...) So congrats and keep going! PS: Personal rant - why did I never got to the front page? I am sad now you know- 33 replies

65000 in Sets, around 75000 in my Mosaics alone, and maybe some 2k or 3k extra I bought here and there.

Lego.com order status saying Customer service
PocasNuckie replied to The Joker1's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Exactly. There's no problem here but lack of patience. I understand I feel exactly the same when I order LEGO. :p -
I am a member of a LUG yes, PLUG (Portuguese LEGO Users Group). I do participate in my LUG's activities within my quite limited possibilities. I am disabled, and so is my sister, and therefore participating in events (specially when they are far from home) involve a sort of family mobilization that's not possible all the times. I can hardly attend more than 1 or 2 events a year. I try though to make it up with excellent and more than regular participation online, and I also try to be better and different on the stuff I build (if you've seen my Mosaics, you know what I am talking about). About contribuiting more for the online community, i've got mixed feelings. It's not like I don't want too, but I got two problems - My health issues do not allow me to engage in strict and scheduled compromises. See, I can be totally fine today, and totally crap tomorrow, so I don't like to make much plans, not even short term because I never know. And because I don't like to let people down by promising things I can't do, I just keep myself quiet in my corner. Number 2 - I am easily bored and my excitement for things sort of consumes rapidly. I can assume a compromise of for example doing a MOC Index today, be very excited, do a lot, and then tomorrow puff... excitement goes down the pipe, I don't care anymore and the work gets only half done which is not cool... So yeah. I've got a really particular situation of my own. Don't judge me for beeing less of an AFOL. I just like to do thing my way, my timing. It doesn't upset me, nor anyone else in the community.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
PocasNuckie replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I did compare both and yes you are right BrentWaller's model is better. Now, am I naive enough to think around 9000 people checked in for that level of detail of hair pieces and acessories? No, I am not. -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
PocasNuckie replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This may be just a conspiracy theory of my own, but I think the most voted Ghostbusters project is doing a bit of cheating. Why? Because they have the GB's HQ shown in the picture of presentation, when it is not supposed to be included in the set if it becomes made. So basicly both projects offers the same thing - car and team. But because that one (on purpose or not) shows also the HQ it is getting more votes. Of course I have no real proof that's the reason it is getting more votes, but... -

18th July or August?? -
First of all I must say I really don't like the new two-sided battlepacks. I really miss the old cool ones like the Mandalorian and the Clone Walker ones, wich I have 4 and 7 of each respectively. But, I understand the move by LEGO. Us AFOL's have money to buy pretty much as many as we can. Kids don't. Kids don't have the money to buy a battlepack of say Clones and another of Droids. So between selling 1 or selling none, LEGO has gone for the obvious choice - put clones and droids in the same box, and everyone is happy. Kids buy 1 and get their thing, and we AFOL's buy too because in general we have the means too, more means than kids. Now, answering directly to the original poster questions: Do you like the new 'battle in a box' battle packs? In general, no. But it really depends on what battle pack we are talking about. Some are very well done, and both figures have appeal while there's others where only 1 of the sides is cool, and the not so much. What is the best way to build armies now? To be honest? No idea. I am no professional army builder. Yes I like and try to build some, but I am not obsessed with it. I do it as I can and has opportunities arise, so I don't have much special advise to give. Probably it's a good idea to buy these 2 sided battlepacks, keep the figs you want, try to sell the others and re-invest that money back in more batteplacks and keep this cycle going. and What new battle packs would you like to see? Nothing special comming to my mind right now. The major factions, CIS,GR,RA and GE have pretty much been covered. Maybe some race oriented BP's? I miss Tusken Raiders a lot! There could also be Jawa's, Gamorrean's whatever. I am just not sure those would sell well. I am not even going to speak about EU, because I sincerely doubt LEGO will go there, specially if there's not updated source material like we got SWTOR now.

Hi, it's me the Mosaic guy again, this time with a Mosaic done by myself! When I finished my last Mosaic, which you may remember was from American Singer/Songwriter Kelly Clarkson, I started a new one I intended to have done by the summer of 2012. Unfortunately my University schedule messed things up a bit, and my motivation to do that Mosaic kind of vanished, so I stored it half done (I hope I can complete it in the next 3 or 4 months) and started a new one that I was really motivated to do, and that's the one I am presenting today. I am not going to bother you with much talk, because I made a blog to share the project (I hope it's ok to post the link) , a blog you can find at - http://www.awtrinbricks.blogspot.pt/ - it has the main page in English, but there's also a page in Portuguese, and even a page with a video for those of you who don't like reading. The content is pretty much all the same - there you can read about me and what led me to make this Mosaic, among the usual LEGO related specifications. In resume, I made a Mosaic based on a promotional photo of the movie A Walk to Remember based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, featuring the movie main couple - Jamie Sullivan and Landon Carter, played by actors Mandy Moore and Shane West. I am presenting it today because today, 25th Jan 2013 is the 11th Anniversary of the movie release on US Cinemas. Anyways, enough talking, let's see some pictures: Some specifications are as following: Time of work : 60 hours Number of Pieces - 16,500, all 1x1 plates Size - 128x128 studs / 102x102cm / 40x40 inches Number of Colors - 10 - Black, White, Dark Bluish Gray, Light Bluish Gray, Very Light Bluish Gray, Reddish Brown, Tan, Dark Tan, Medium Blue and Dark Blue. Value - 1200€ , comprising cost of pieces, other costs and a fair price for the labour applied I hope you all like it as much as I like it and liked doing it. I ask you one favour if your fancy doing it - share my blog! - Really, for me doing these things is not fun anymore if I can't share it with as many people as possible, be them or not LEGO enthusiasts. I really appreciate your collaboration. Pedro,

Is $25.00 too much for the Arkham Asylum Scarecrow?
PocasNuckie replied to 305Bats's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Many years ago, mainly when I started buying LEGO seriously and regulary, I set a rule for myself - never pay absurd ammounts of money for minifigs. Of course all rules are to be broken, and I have breaked it - sometime ago I payed 10€ for a Chrome Darth Vader Polybag! You are probably laughing at me, but yes 10€ for a minifig is absurd for me (I have bought a few others at around the 10€ price after, but never above that) In any case, I rather save a little more and get the whole set where that great and kind of exclusive minifigure I want comes. Of course that kind of doesn't work when it comes to such an expensive set such as the Asylum. It all gets down to if you really want the figure. I personally am not a big Batman franchise fan, and Scarecrow at all. But the bottomline is, I wouldn't pay 25€ for any minifig, even not for my SW friends. But that's me, not you. -
Hi, You probably know me as the guy who only comes around here mostly to post LEGO Mosaics. This time is no different, I come to post a Mosaic yes, but it's a bit of a different situation. The following Mosaic was done by my father (I only worked as consultant to project and then do the shopping for parts) as a consequence of the spreading of the love for this kind of LEGO art here at my house. So, my father decided to follow the trend of doing woman portraits and decided to depict this brazilian actress called Marisol Ribeiro. The specs of the Mosaic are the usual stuff - 96x128 studs , 12288 pieces (all 1x1 plates), around 11 colors, in a total of 36 hours of work. Anyways, without further talk: I hope you all liked it! Stay tuned in the forum, because I too have a finished Mosaic to present, and it's even bigger than this one! I just need to put it on display and take some photos, which I'll do over next week! Stay cool and... keep plating! Pedro aka Pocas

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
PocasNuckie replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't see CUUSOO products as the typical sets LEGO releases for kids to play with. Of course LEGO will always respect (as we have seen with the reject of previous projects) the core target of 6-11 and the constraints it brings, but I don't think it will limit the Exo-Suit just because it's not strongly stable and playable with. CUUSOO sets are collectibles/display models (atleast I like to see them that way) , not just another set to swoosh with, there's hundred others with that purpose. -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality

Wrong. LR is a 3rd party theme, while GS is LEGO own theme. I am not saying Space Marines will definetly pass, but comparisons can't be done in this case. -

Is it me or the fact there's a video may mean we'll see a prototype (or final) of what's to be released on the next slot? Cheers -
About the JEK Starfighter I doubt it comes from 1313, it's an adult-themed game and at first sight goes against LEGO core target, but we never know

I have a backlog of 60 boxes so

All I know is I spent a lot more than I should have, and that brings consequences for 2013

The 'Golden Age' of Lego, is it now?
PocasNuckie replied to Hey Joe's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Sorry to enter here and comment in a maybe not so polite way - but this, and other similar discussions are pointless as no one of us EB users are in the 6-11 core target of LEGO. Whether we like it or not, 90ish% of LEGO products aren't made for us, or with us in mind. We can choose to live happily ever after enjoying what LEGO gives our own inner children, or spend our time pointing the finger at the company for not fullfilling each and every wish of a small (yet growing) slice of its own clients, that are the AFOL's. And don't beat me much, oh k? -
I was thinking of getting the Shellraiser and the Baxter Rampage, looked like the easiest way to get all 4 turtles. But looking at the prices, I may have to review my options.

Hi, My post isn't exactly a Set X vs Set Y question, but I still think this is the most appropriate thread for it. Anyways, in a week or so there should be a promo of 50% off toys in one of the major retailers here in Portugal (the 50% is put on the client card, so the real discount is 33%, but tat doesnt matter here). One of the themes that's usually around, and one I like to get the most is the soon to be gone NinjaGO. Now, I know what sets I want from that, but I am veryyyyyyy undecided about one - and that's the 9450 Epic Dragon Battle. The only thing that really appeals to me , is the Green Ninja. But I have seen that's a minifig that exists on one of those spinner packs (I know the minifig quality is different, but I am not picky, so that's not an issue to me). I have also looked at the instructions like I always do, to see if there's interesting parts and stuff, and the build looks a bit hard for someone like me (I am disabled, got little strength in my hands/arms, and whatever...). To be honest, I am pointing more towards skipping EDB and picking 2 of the 9449 Ultra Sonic Raider, because that one is a much more better parts packs, specially when it comes to Ninja Weapons (i got a ton of CMF Series 1 Ninjas, and they are all bored of using the same swords over and over again ah!). So... what are your opinions and specially suggestions?

Hi I am a Mosaic expert myself too. I have assembled my Mosaics in what we call "Platex" surfaces. I believe the english term for that is pressboard. But I may try soon on wood surfaces because those are probably more resistent. I have not framed any of my Mosaics. They are sitting in my LEGO basement, simply covered in plastic to avoid dust. The obvious solution is a regular photo frame with glass. Yes, it has a lot of reflection , but let's think : acrylic or non-reflective glass will just cost you enough to buy a whole lot of LEGO!! It's not like you will have your Mosaic at a art exhibition with people starting all the time, so the reflection maybe the least of your problems. It's really your call. I know I have not been very helpfull. To be honest I am too looking to see what people say :D Cheers
