  1. Hello fellow Eurobricks members, long time no see, hope all is well. I come to you to present you my latest MOSAIC construction. This one has a nice story behind it that I will try to resume as best as I can so it doesnt get to boring. Most of you probably dont care about football and even if you do you care about it in your country and not mine. But my club Benfica from Portugal was in January 7 points behind the League leader and totally exhausted with the coach we had. Everyone was giving up for the year. Our president switched coaches and brought to the main team our B team manager , this not very experienced man called Bruno Lage. Bruno had extensive knowledge of our young players from whom we capitalized the most of their capabilities and established great connection with the supporters. End of story we recovered the point difference and won the title 2 points ahead of our rival that if you remember was 7 ahead of us before. Somewhere in March while the hype was still low I said to myself if this man gives us the title we got to do him a nice tribute to thank him and during the following months i chatted with fellow supports to know if they were interested in covering the costs of materials because unfortunately this doesnt come cheap. I made a few renders, let the people vote the final design, made a crowdfund and raised the needed sum and built this. You can see next a comparison between the original photo, the render provided by Pic To Brick and the final construction. I could have sticked to the 4 color scheme, but I thought adding some red was a nice touch and those shadowsi in Dark Red came our really well. You can now see a photo of the construction alone. It's a 96x128 studs sized Mosaic. I could have done it bigger but it wasnt needed. Looks awesome this way and I didnt want to push it since I was asking money for it. Now I just need to frame it and contact the proper people to create an opportunity to give it to the man himself. Hope you all like it
  2. Calm down in assuming the Voltron coming is the one from the current Netflix show. The proposal on Ideas was for the classic one. Of course if LEGO is smart they will go with the new one but who knows ... You're right. I could have sweared I had read somewhere it was 6 seasons only but that was probably my mind making up stuff.
  3. The next Season of Voltron (that will sadly be the last) is going to be released on June 15 so it would probably be a good marketing strategy to release the LEGO set by then.
  4. Hello fellow members of Eurobricks, long time no see. I hope you are all doing well. Although I've been away from this specific forum I have not been away from LEGO. With that said I come to present to you today what is my 10th LEGO Mosaic. ] This is a portrait of Portuguese actress Victoria Guerra (she has done some international movies and won some international awards, but nothing too mainstream, so you probably don't know her). The specs of the mosaic are nothing special - it has a size of 128x128 studs, 10 different colors and I think around 12500 pieces (I wanted to use existing stock of pieces so I didn't do it all on 1x1 plates but I didn't maximize the saving of parts either, just used what I had available). This is the original photo for comparison: And this is the render generated by Pic To Brick from which I based the construction on: Hope you all like it. Have a good day and keep having as much fun with LEGO as I do!
  5. Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I got Stephen Amell (the actor behind the mask) to share this on his Facebook Fan Art Friday thing and it was great, the guy has almost 5 million followers and I got like 3000 likes on my photo plus a ton of awesome comments. I'd happily convert every single hero on the show to Mosaic like this. What people probably don't know is that one of these things costs me around 700€ in parts alone. And since I am not rich (yet) I cant just pop LEGO Mosaics like that.
  6. Hi guys, how are you all? Probably most of you don't know but I suffer from Muscular Dystrophy, an highly incapacitating disability that doesnt let me do many things that other people can do. Most of my time (except when Im on university) is spent home either navigating the Internet of watching TV (or building with LEGO of course). One of my favorite shows is the CW adaptation of the DC hero Arrow and it was with that in my mind that I made this mosaic. It's 40x40inches in size and has about 7000 pieces of 5 different colors. It was actually pretty hard to make not just in the rendering stage but also in practice because some required parts dont exist and I had to adapt. But I think it turned out cool anyways. Sorry for the bad quality of the picture but it's what I got now. Hope you all like it.
  7. I wish I knew how to do great mosaics like this at such a small scale, but I don't! Guess we all have our own speciality and you have a nice work here. Not your fault really but now Im going to spend the whole day singing the Ghostbusters theme.
  8. I use PicToBrick. It's the easiest one to use (once you get the hang of it). Too bad its sort of outdated and a lot of the colors generated there are not produced by LEGO anymore, but I try to use whatever equivalent colors there are when possible. I also prefer Black and White Mosaics (I think my best are the BW ones really). In this case just it was made in B&W because of all the photos I tried on the software (yes, you gotta try a lot before getting one that works good) it was the best result I got. Me and my father wanted to do someone really iconic this time and after putting a lot of people aside because they we're already made in LEGO Mosaic we came up with the idea of Ayrton. I think it turned out quite good and I have lots of friends in my LUG who are racing fans and have been freaking out about this.
  9. I don't exactly understand what you're asking. But yes I suppose I use LEGO colors only. I don't like painting pieces.
  10. Hi guys, hope you're all doing great. I don't post here in a while because well I didn't have any new work to show up until now because University has been keeping me busy. Anyways, I have not been entirely stopped and sure didn't lose any of my interest in LEGO. So, I helped my father do this since he joined me in the Dark Side of LEGO Mosaics too a while ago. It's a 128x128 studs LEGO Mosaic of the deceased F1 Champion Ayrton Senna. It has 5900 pieces of 5 different colors , ranging from sizes of 1x1 to 6x8 studs. Hope you all like it. I got some projects up my sleeve that I hope to show you soon enough when I finish my graduation and have time to put my hands on the pieces.
  11. Thanks. I was a little confused if it was a set missing on that lot of pictures of the figure had been swapped for another one.
  12. Wasn't there a set with Super Girl?
  13. My wishfull thinking wants that Anakin Custom SF to be the Azure Angel and ... to be UCS. Doubt the second part will happen though , sadly.
  14. Apologies if this is not the place to ask this but ... does anyone know why the Exo-Suit is only appearing in the US S@H and in none of the European ones? Is it just because it was forgotten, is it because it's going to get a later release date, or is it (hope not) because it's going to be a US release only? For example, the UCS Tumbler which should have a later release date is already showing on our pages and the Exo is not ... hope it's not a pronounce of bad news... thanks for the help!
  15. UFO. Because the first set with substancial size I got was from that theme.
  16. $1000 for 2500 pieces can only mean you are using some rare stuff (the kind of stuff I usually run away from), As you asked for info on our own MOC's, here's a short list of the number of pieces and parts cost for the 7 Mosaics I have done so far. 1 - 10700 pieces / ~490$ 2 - 9200 pieces / ~630$ 3 - 16400 pieces / ~980$ 4 - 12300 pieces / ~490$ 5 - 12300 pieces / ~575$ 6 - 6200 pieces / ~350$ 7 - 7900 pieces / ~650$
  17. Hey again, Nothing fancy this time, just another ~6200 pieces LEGO Mosaic, this time representing the logo of the club that is the partner and host of PLUG's exhibit where I am at that moment. Hope you all like it too :)
  18. Hello fellow Eurobricks friends, today I give you my latest LEGO Mosaic masterpiece, here presented at PLUG's Oeiras Brincka 2014 Event. This time I chose to represent someone I am a huge fan of - Portuguese descendant American Actress Lyndsy Fonseca (you may know her from the movies Hot Tub Time Machine or the 2010 CW TV Series "Nikita"). Besides just making another Mosaic, this time I also wanted to make a bit of a study. As you may or may not know so far I have always done my Mosaic with 1x1 Plates only and this was starting to get awful, not just because of the time and effort spent but mostly because of the bill. I really needed to find a way to make big things like this but way cheaper. So I settled for a compromise between using the less pieces possible but not in such an exhaustive way that the optimization process (and then buying the pieces) wouldn't kill me of boredom. That said I made this Mosaic with roughly 40% of the possibly needed pieces - 7900 agaisnt 20500 1x1 Plates - and it costed me roughly 40% of the money compared to the budget I calculated for the case I would have bought only 1x1 Plates. Like I said it wasn't optimal - I could have probably used somewhere between 500 and 1000 less pieces, but then again the idea wasn't to be perfect and I think It worked out quite well in the end anyways. Here's some specifications: Size - 50x40 inches / 127x102cm Number of Pieces - ~7900 Types of Pieces - Plates 4x4, 2x6, 2x4, 2x2, 1x1 Colors - Black, White, Dark Bluish Gray, Light Bluish Gray, Reddish Brown, Dark Tan and Tan Hours of work - ~40 Hope you all liked it as much as I like it and am proud of it. I've been getting a lot of positive reviews here on the exhibit and actually ended up beeing interviewed for TV yesterday. Stay cool. Pedro
  19. You can't compare having a kid playing with your LEGO and a few pieces coming off, with the cleaning lady picking sets from the shelves in a poor way and literally letting them fall of to the ground from like a meter high or more. (happened to me)
  20. I banned pretty much everyone from touching my LEGO. From the house, only I and my dad do it. My fellow AFOL's are allowed to touch when they come by, because I know they are skilled enough not to do damage. My 4 years old goddaughter is allowed to play but only with what I give to her hand (small cars, motorcycles and cheaper minifigures) but mostly because hearing her whining if denied would be far worse (I give her tons of LEGO for her age so she's fine anyways lol)
  21. Hi everyone. Been a bit away from LEGO Star Wars news lately, and LSW as a whole since sets have become a little bit uninteresting for me. That said I would like to know, if your nice enough to tell me without making me go look back a lot of pages, if there are any consistent rumours for sets that have not yet been announced officially, to be launched in the next few months. Thanks for the help.
  22. Put it this way - There are only 2 Sith Lords. All the others are Dark Side users at the service of the Sith Lords. Many people mistake Dark Side users for Sith. It's not the same thing. About the Revan promotional minifigure, I am totally getting it. Now just need to choose what to buy. Probably going for the Jedi Defender-Class Cruiser.
  23. Greetings fellow Eurobrick members and LEGO fans. Long time no see. This is your favorite (or not) Mosaic Builder here again to present another piece of work. I started this one a long long time ago, April 2012 to be more precise. For two reasons - the fact the technique that is used to build is is an headache to do and the fact at the time I got more interested in making my Mosaic from the movie "A Walk To Remember" that you already know - I ended up storing this one only with 40% of it done. I have to admit that there were many times where I thought about ditching this work and using the parts for other projects but because - removing plates is a nightmare and mostly because I hate to left things I start incomplete - I ended up finishing it in these last weeks. So and considering I don't have much more to say as an introduction, I give you my latest Mosaic. This time I represented someone I am a fan of for quite some time, and that is a big inspiration for me - the brazilian top model Alessandra Ambrosio. Not much to mention in terms of specifications - 96x128 studs of size, 12 different colors, all 1x1 plates. As you can see it doesn't look too great, atleast for what are my standards. That's because of the Vector Error Difusion technique from Pic To Brick, that gives it this very pixelized look with lots of weird colors through the middle. Still this was the best project I could make of this girl at that time. I hope you all like it. And stay tuned because I will bring you another Mosaic, the biggest one to this date, within the next 2 months or less. Pedro aka Pocas
  24. I got over 90 sets left to be still opened. No way I am gonna spam this with a full list.
  25. You're a real master, I am seriously impressed. The level of work you put on the preparation of the building just by making those handprints is seriously nuts. Trust me, I am disabled and can't actually kneel before you, because If I could I'd be doing it right away. :p
