  1. I suspect they represent the electric motor + generator system.
  2. Wow! This reminds me of getting Technic 8853 for Christmas in about 1988.
  3. Another sign that there will be a new space shuttle, perhaps as next year's flagship?
  4. Hopefully all this space Technic, and the 60th Anniversary of the fires Lego space set, foreshadows a new Technic Space Shuttle in August 2024.
  5. So what other features are we expecting? Suspension? Technic Cylinder engine? Or something more like the Mack fake cylinders? WIll the engine cover be removable?
  6. It isn't linked the to space shuttle. You get emailed a code and then you can add that code to any order. That's how it worked for me when I got it earlier today.
  7. Virginia where Discovery is now kept in a museum? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_F._Udvar-Hazy_Center
  8. I think the 18+ is just new marketing that Lego has been doing over the last year or so to target their high end products to a more adult audience that can afford to purchase such a set. I don't see how this is a harder build that the Chiron that says 16+ on the box. In fact is it much more complicated than the Land Rover which is 11+?
  9. I haven't built a 1:8 Technic car, where do the extra ~900 pieces go? Smaller details? More pins?
  10. Surprisingly it is AUD$570, whereas the Chiron is $600. I think I prefer it to the Chiron.
  11. WOW! very impressive. Interestingly, Markus Kossman said in this interview he wishes that he could do a new Technic space shuttle:
  12. I was hoping for another 4000+ piece set. But maybe it is time I buy a supercar instead :) The Osprey could be technically interesting.
  13. Hi, I finished building 42100 yesterday, and also had some issues connecting to both hubs at the same time. Curiously I had no problems on my iPad, but on my iPhone 7 plus I could only connect to the lower hub (tracks and turntable) and not the upper hub that controls all the other functions. Ultimately I solved it by installing the Powered Up app 3.0 so I could update the firmware on the second hub. I then went into the Control+ app, selected 42100, then went into the Settings screen, then selected the "Model Data Reset" option. It is a screen with an arrow that curves tot he left. I selected this option, then closed and reopened the app. After doing this I could finally connect to both hubs on my iPhone. I agree that there are some teething issues with the app. One thing I don't understand is that when using the One Touch control mode everything moves faster, particularly the bucket opening and closing, compared to the regular driving mode. Is this because the regular driving mode is designed to emulate the movement of the real machine? I also had some issues getting my bucket to close fully. It now closes with a snap at the end, and takes a while to start opening. I guess it is possible that my bucket piece is a bit bent? I think it is very important to look at how far extended the linear actuators are meant to be when installing them. There are 1:1 diagrams that I didn't pay enough attention to. Other than that, the model looks fantastic, and the functions are great and move quite quickly. The long linear actuators look really cool, but what I'd love to see is Control+ integrated with an automated use of pneumatics :) I think 42100 and the Land Rover mark 2019 has a great Technic year, but this is just the start of Control+ so I can't wait to see what second half 2020 brings.
  14. I'm a teacher at uni. These days we spend so much time using screens in lectures, tutorials, when marking work (everything is marked online these days), and of course when replying to dozens of emails. I like paper instructions simply because it takes me away from my computer / phone / iPad for a while and adds to the relaxation / recreational effect of the building process. If my only option was to look at the instructions on a screen then some of the meditative aspect of assembling a set would disappear.
  15. I'd like a Technic version of the 2020 Tesla Roadster: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Roadster_(2020) The Cold Gas Thrust function could be included using a motor, a pair of pneumatic pumps, and the tank part. Perhaps using Control+ to open one of the new valves.
  16. I hope the next supercar uses the tilt sensor in the control hub and pneumatics to create some sort of auto leveling suspension system.
  17. Who thinks the two biggest (in terms of part count) for 2H 2020 sets will be better than 42100 + 42110? I think it's rare to get two such high quality 2H sets released on the same day.
  18. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like the fact that building a set is one of the few things I do where I don't have to look at a computer screen of some sort. Turning physical pages and manipulating the pieces is therapeutic.
  19. It's interesting that in Markus Kossman's interview with Sariel, he mentions one reason there is no B model on 42100 is they simply ran out of time to finalise a B model design.
  20. Just to add to the confusion, I wonder if the new version of the app is waiting iTunes / Google play store approval? Perhaps Lego has sent the new version, but it is yet to be approved. Of course this still implies poor organisation on Lego's part.
  21. I worry that this set is so expensive that a lot of the regular stores may not carry it. It may be a special order. The suggested retail price in Australia including 10% tax is going to be $750. This compares to $400 for the recent Technic flagships Rough Terrain Crane, 6 x 6 Tow Truck, and Bucket Wheel Excavator. The Chiron was $600 so many department stores here simply didn't carry it, and you could only get it by special ordering.
