  2. While not a cultural absolute (if you haven't read this article by David Morgan-Mar already, go read it; I'll wait), DC comics character Flash is one of those comic book heroes almost everybody have had a glimpse of in one media or another. I must admit I'm a lot less acquainted with Black Flash. Anyway, we're not here to discuss the respective merits of the two characters' PR agents, so let's start with the review of their minifig forms custom produced by qualitycustombricks.com. Theme: Super Heroes Type: Custom printed minifigures Figs names: Flash and Black Flash Price: 20-25 $ Pieces: 3 each (head, torso and legs) Year of release: 2013 The Box Front The Flash's costume seems to have remained more or less the same since the 1950s, save for minor details, mainly in the boots. Quality Custom Bricks designers really captured its style and feel really well, with the big flash on the white disk on the chest and the smaller flash-motives on the belt and legs. Black Flash, also is spot on, and we can clearly see how his costume is a copy/mockery of the original Flash's one. The zombie-like 'grin' is very accurate to the original character, and somewhat reminds me of the original LEGO Venom minifigure. The figures are digitally printed and, I'm assured by TonysBrickVault, they are just as durable as factory LEGO print. The only difference is this printing looks and feels like a bas relief on the figure, but not so much so that it can get off easily with use. Back The back side is equally detailed in both figs, with the 'belts' and boot lines, as well as some backbone and shoulder-bone design to enrich it. The lighter and thinner lines are, of course, more visible on the Black Flash fig, as they are highlighted by the darker background colour. Moreover, both figs have printing inside their legs, or better, inside the lower hole of the legs. You can more or less see it in this picture (believe me, it's quite tricky to photograph) that the two of them share a lighting motive in there, which completes the lining of the boots. Great job with detailing, Quality Custom Bricks! Sides In this side view we can have a better look at the boot and mask detailing. Flash sports his trademark wing-like design, much like a modern Hermes. Black Flash keeps mocking our hero, with somewhat super-sized and more complicated mask 'wings' and lighting-like stripes on the boots. Bonus The Flash minifigure is a great addition to any DC fan's collection, as LEGO is not producing his fig yet. So, Justice League of America... Assemble!? Final comments Overall, these two figs are excellent, in both design and printing. They are very faithful to the original comic design, and the custom job looks durable enough. I do recommend them to any DC or general Super Heroes and comics' fan, as they fill a gap in the current LEGO production with compatible quality and detailing. And for the Marvel fans, don't forget the latest addition to the qualitycustombricks.com collection: Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers Iron Patriot minifigure! As always, questions, comments, and pic requests welcome!
  3. Please, try to keep the TMNT discussion and news in the dedicated topic. Thanks.
  4. Just put the part number and did a normal search under "Catalog Items": here it is!
  5. Moved to the right one now.
  6. Though this is for a decal design project, I think the topic in itself would fit better in Multimedia. Moving now.
  7. You can find useful tools and tutorials in the MCW Index, especially this one on how to make custom pieces or modify official parts with Sculpey.
  8. There's a dedicated topic in Special Themes for the Minecraft sets, so I'll close this now.
  9. Just a quick note, don't want to derail the topic. Please try to reduce the images in your quotes to a minimum, and keep in mind we prefer people to not quote images from the same page they come from. The text quote itself should be sufficient. Thanks. Also, enthusiasm can be good, but try to never overdo.

  11. First of all, I'm sorry to see you so carried away about this. I did just invite you to follow our forum's 'netiquette'. Anyway, I'm sure you can agree that posting the photo plus a couple of lines explaining that you meant it as a contribution to show how the set does mix with the other modulars would have been more useful. Just imagine what would happen if many members here were to post just images in topics, without explanation. Again, I invite you to take a little more time before posting your contributions, just to make sure the post follows the Member Guidelines and its aim is easily understandable by everyone.
  12. I'm not sure what your point is, october. Please keep in mind that reviving older topics (this one being 1 year old) without adding much to the general discussion, or just to show-off your collection without a word of explanation, is frowned upon by the EB Staff.
  13. As far as I know, the best way is to go trial-and-error until you're satisfied with the results. Colour matching depends on a number of variables: printer, ink, paper, background colour you apply the decal on. So, I don't think just asking someone what settings they use will be the ultimate solution (though it can probably help when you use the same printer/ink/paper). In general, darker colours should be a bit easier to match, and less depending on the background colour of the bricks you use, while lighter ones will require more fine tuning.
  14. Both torso (minus green arms) and legs are from the S4 Surfer Girl.
  15. The decals are posted in this entry. You just need to save the image on your computer and print them. Check the MCW Index for tutorials, including the 'How to print decals with MS Word' one.
  16. I think I've pointed to this discussion a number of times already. Why won't people learn how to use the MCW Index and/or search functions? I'm closing this now.
  17. You should probably be fine by using the colours and codes listed in this Colour Charts for Decals, which is in the MCW Index along with lots of other useful info and tools.
  18. If you have some time to get practice, I'd suggest Inkscape: it's a vectorial program, so you'll be able to manipulate design elements more flexibly way, and the results are pretty good. MS Paint is perhaps a bit easier to use right from the beginning, but less flexible and 'interesting' in a way, and the results are not always as good. As far as I know (since I do not have it), Illustrator is even better than Inkscape in terms of design options and elements manipulation, but it's somewhat more tricky and, since it's not free, I'd suggest you to make practice with other programs before eventually buying it (unless you already own it, of course).
  19. You can find tutorials for designing decals with MS Paint (Windows default), Inkscape (free) and Adobe Illustrator (if you have it) in the MCW Index thread. As for a complete template, you can try this one I made a long time ago, but for some reason never came to add to the Templates Index.
