  1. You work in great style, I see To avoid falling under the license line, I'll have to ask you to exclude from this line the characters who already have a merchandize line: Hercules/Heracles and all those included (both animated and not), Cerberus (already present in Harry Potter as 'Fluffy'), ... I understand this will strongly influence your current ideas, but there's plenty of heroes and myths that have not been used for merchandize, yet (like Perseus, Theseus and Jason & The Argonauts). LuxorV
  2. Considering a recent case, I think it would be better to update the rules on the License distinction: LuxorV
  3. Well, after a bit of research, I have to confirm it . Sherlock Holmes is not eligible as an entry, since it's a license. Sorry. I'll change this into a normal topic for you. You can then make a new entry LuxorV
  4. It would be ok, if the torso decals I see were not the ones you already published as Halo Space Marines ones, only in white (which so much seem to be to me). Please modify them. You have plenty of time to do that Btw, I take it the theme title is Space Marines, right? LuxorV
  5. First question - tes, it can be a theme/idea you already worked on, as long as the entry is a new (not shown before) custom. Second question - you have to make a theme which is new for TLG (never produced before in LEGO form), but if you get your inspiration from some source, like a local legend in your town, then you have to state so. For example, if I made an entry based on a popular tale like that of Jack And The Beanstalk, I'd have to say 'My entry is based on Jack And The Beanstalk tale', and maybe provide a link to it. On the other hand, if your entry is entirely based on your imagination, you can say 'My entry is entirely based on my imagination'. Simple, isn't it? Hope this makes it more clear . LuxorV
  6. This is a classic I was especting to see Could you give us more details on your entry (Mr. Holmes himself ), like if you used custom decals (sorry if it is an official one, but I can't recognize the torso ). LuxorV
  7. Another really interesting concept here. Will be waiting to see the actual minifig . LuxorV
  8. Of course: it's your entry, so you decide what to make for a theme description And remember all entries are considered WIPs until the final day, so you'll have the possibility to modify it if you wish so 'till the last moment. Good luck! LuxorV
  9. As long as the brick-built character is not your entry, go for it even without a PM preview Btw, I fear a theme with primarily brick-built creatures would probably fall under 'Creator', more than being a theme on its own. And that's a bit of a pity, considering some of the best creature I've seen around (BS, Flickr and so on) are brick-built As Mraz 'Skintas already said: LuxorV
  10. I have updated the rules to include this one: LuxorV
  11. You really must have a crush for frogs here Please keep in mind that, along with the backstory you promised us, you'll have to include, for the MF you mean to enter: LuxorV
  12. This isn't really something I was expecting to see in this contest The idea seems interesting, but you may want to work a bit more on the backstory/theme aspect. I don't think TLG could sell a line like this based only on one character and his (real) story . I'll be waiting to see what you'll bring to us LuxorV
  13. Great ending chapter, Batbrick! I really like those recap shots and captions; very effective and still they don't take the attention from the current story. Indeed your building skills and attention to details (which already weren't bad at all at the beginning) have improved, and now your creations can stand any inspection and pass it As we had occasion to discuss before, while it's always sad to end a project like this, which took so much of your, and our as readers/protagonists, time; nonetheless, putting a full stop at some point can be the best way to take a look at what has been done, and then start programming something else based on the experience you gained form this. I'm sure your future projects will be advantaged by this experience and I can't wait to see what's next P.S.: I voted for 'I demandmore Block Block! We need more Crossdressing Lightning Babe!', dear old Block Block Eulogizer. Really couldn't resist! LuxorV
  14. Yes, it's in the rules : I'd prefer you to make a custom of a normal MF. It's very unusual for tLG to make a new theme with the main/most representative character being a brick-built one. No, you can even make them red or gold, as long as you provide a reason for it in the backstory. You are strongly invited to use a white (or other neutral) background. We just want to avoid the risk of the MF to appear merged with the background (so no brick-built bg either). As for the effects, as long as they are natural (real world) light efects, ok. No digital elaboration, please. As already noted, the 51% recognizable LEGO rule means you can use sculpey or other customizing materials (in the end, decals are not plastic, are they?) as long as the entry is mostly original LEGO (so no 'ClayFace-like' beings made of 80% sculpey). That would be my favourite kind of entry. We want you to express your creativity in this contest. If you have a good inspiration material you want to use, good. If you can create something totally on your own, better. Well, yes. I think your description should fall under the decals category. LuxorV
  15. Just saw it and commented. You indeed are fast LuxorV
  16. Wow, this was fast! Very nice idea and neatly organized presentation, with the Backstory, Possible Sets and Other Characters points. Good luck LuxorV
  17. It's ok, as long as they haven't been published before today. You only need to post one minifig here, but personally I'll be interested in seeing the other, too LuxorV
  18. Well, it's a bit of a pity; but if this is what you want... done LuxorV
  19. Yes. You could make a starman based on a sci-fi novel (say Asimov's Foundation line) or a detective based on a detective story (like Adam's Dirk Gently) or something. But remember: you must also submit a background story and your minifig will represent a whole theme. So don't make a character who stands on his own without any possibilities for a typical LEGO theme development (you know, like 5 sets of increasing size, with recurrent characters, vehicles and/or buildings, good guys and evil guys and all the rest). LuxorV
  20. Your brother can start his work and post it here. He will be eligible for the prizes, and he will be welcome in the MCW Only one figure will be taken into consideration for the voting, and you'll have to clearly state which one you want it to be in your post, in case you show more than one; but you can build an entire new army, if you wish so. As a general rule, the first picture in your entry topics will be used as thumbnail in the voting topic (as for the other EB contests). LuxorV
  21. Indexes updated again. Now all the Star Trek decals should be in, Capt. Kirk LuxorV
  22. That's right. You must design the decal by yourself. As the rules say: So your entry will be considered WIP till the contest is closed. That means you can ask for suggestions and post concept pics as much as you want, keeping in mind that someone could steal your idea . The only important thing is you don't ask somebody else to make part of the design for you. Another thing is: you can post the decals you use for your minifig, if you wish, before the contest ends (nobody else could use them for their entries, anyway ). But I'll add them to the Indexes (maybe in an all new category) only after this is closed. LuxorV
  23. Dear EuroBricks members, BrickForge – in collaboration with the EB Staff – is proud to announce the first Minifig Customization Workshop Contest To find out all you need to know about the rules and the awesome prizes of this contest, click on the banner and check the Minifig Customization Workshop Forum. What are you waiting for? Hurry up and get busy customizing your minifigs!
  24. Welcome to the Minifig Customization Workshop Contest The purpose of this contest is the following: Create a Minifigure for a New Theme The dream of a lifetime coming true! You have just been hired by TLG to work on a special project. You are now part of the ‘New Themes Development’ Division. Your task is that of creating a new minifigure that represents the new theme you would like TLG to introduce on the market. The theme can be anything but a License product (Movies, Videogames, TV-series and so on): TLG already has enough License contracts going on, and they don’t feel like opening a new one right now. We badly want to discover new talents! New customizers, members that never designed a custom before, have here the chance to make one for the first time! If you are new to the world of LEGO customization, but want to participate to this contest and get away with one of the beautiful prizes, here is a link to the Minifig Customization Index and Guidelines, where you’ll find a lot of useful tutorials and tools. The Rules • Create a custom minifigure which represents a new LEGO theme you would like to see on the market. • For New Theme I mean something that has never been previously produced by TLG. It may be a Space Pirate gang, a Steam Punk-ish team, a Roman or Greek army, or just a new faction for an existing line (like Fantasy Era is a new faction/theme inside the Castle main line). These are just some examples; don’t stick to them: let your imagination soar free in the unlimited sky of customization! • While License-like themes are not allowed (so don't try to introduce new factions for Harry Potter, Star Wars or Indiana Jones!), creations based on true historical events/factions and/or folklore can be used as a base for your creations (say local legends' heroes are welcome; just avoid all those monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster and Werewolf already produced by TLG in the Studios line). To make things more clear, I'll say this: all the themes which already have a merchandise line are considered License. • For the nature of this contest, no digital entries are allowed - only actual brick built entries. • For the same reason, no photo editing of the entries will be allowed. • Your entries must be at least 51% recognizable LEGO. • Entries must have a background story, a note on which theme it's 'from' and which character you've copied. • Contestants may submit any number of pictures of their entry, keeping in mind that a base of 3 pictures (front, side and back) is required to qualify for this contest. • Entries should have a link to picture folder (non-resized pics, close-ups and stuff like that for the rest of us to enjoy) • Max picture size for deeplinked pictures is 800 x 600 pixels • No webcam or phonepictures - The pictures must be undisturbed - make a studio, anything but a table with a cat in the background, nor is a LEGO built background allowed. • Entries must be new customs. Any entry published online prior to the start of the contest will be disqualified. • You may not include in your entry any decal or other design element created by other customizers; actual custom plastic items (such as BrickForge, BrickArms and similar) are allowed, as long as you clearly refer to them in the text and you give due credit. • Contest entries must be posted before the 20th of July 2009 12:00 GTM. • Only one entry per person. • All entries posted until the end date of the contest are considered Works In Progress. • All entries not living up to the rules on the end date are disqualified. • Entries must be something the whole AFOLs’ community can enjoy. Please, avoid nudity, excessive gore, or other offensive content. • All entries will be commented 1 week before the end date by me, giving guidelines on how to qualify for the vote. UPDATE: • All entries must include a Theme Name and a brief description of the possible development of the theme (i.e., a list of the possible sets). Entries are to be posted within the Minifig Customization Workshop and type "MCW Contest Entry" in the ’title description’ of the topic.
