Guidelines for a head decal (TLC style)
LuxorV replied to Capt. Kirk's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks, Capt. Kirk This will sure be useful to our decal makers. You really put a lot of effort in doing this LuxorV -
I agree, I like that scale, while the one used for the official set is a bit too big imo. Yes, I considered using them, but I was lazy and didn't want to mess with the necessary Technic tricks . As espected, it ended taht I had to mess a lot with the System tricks, especially to have a quite good looking and precise to the original front . LuxorV

It looks like some of the younger members here need to do a bit of researche about this site history: have fun! [just to complete the link given by Oky Wan Kenobi ] As for all the things of this kind that happen on EB, Hinckley is the one to blame for this LuxorV

Thanks for the comment, The Penguin, and sorry for the very late reply It would seem the LDD model file caused some sort of problem with the Nazi plane gallery, so that it could not be seen publicly. I moved that file to another folder. We'll see if it works LuxorV

Thanks all for the comments. As somebody noticed, a more complete deck, a shredded sail and/or a post-duel scene would make this entry more complete. But, I did it quite in a hurry, in the small bits of time I could find here and there (adding the details while I built, since the only idea I started with was that of trying to build a part of a ship's hull; something I had never tried before ), and I didn't have time and continuity to make it more complete. Moreover, this uses almost all the brown plates I own, and I should have put in other colors to complete the deck... LuxorV

72d This is my entry for the Staff Contest: Abandoning the ship. After a fierce battle on board the Pirate ship Queen of the Bounties, the Royal Army soldiers succeeded in putting the powder magazine on fire. Now, while both parties are abandoning the doomed ship, the Captains are fighting a 'duel of fates' on the deck. BS gallery. Thanks for watching. LuxorV

Interactive Apocalypse: Profiles and Revelations.
LuxorV replied to Batbrick's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Wait, I never said it should have ended sooner . I just said I'm happy it ends (since it has to end 'somehow, somewhere in time') before becoming overly complicated and entering the 'final' battle to post-battle to 'another final' battle circles we now see in many TV series. LuxorV -
Happy Birthday Batbrick! Good to hear you had a great one (even if no LEGO was involved) LuxorV

Fisrt of all, sorry for not replying earlier Thanks for all the comments. I'll now put down some answers to them in random order: - the hotel bending along the curved road was one of my favourite designes when I built classic town styled buildings many years ago, and it came natural to me to include it into the entry - the yellow car is indeed built with some pieces which are way newer than any classic town ones, but the ddesign is inspired to cars from the 1930s (again, I was affected by my Indiana Jones passion). It looked like a nice addition to the scene, even if I knew it was a gamble as for the actual pieces usage - the small windows were almost a forced choice: I had either to use those or to put in only 2-3 4x1x3 windows per store, given the geometry of the walls; the small doors of the second store are a direct consequence to keep a bit of ballance; btw, they remind me of the almost-too-small-but-so-very-vintage-looking balcony doors used for some hotel I've been to in Paris - as always happens (at least to me ) the details came along as I built: the main building had to be either a Hotel or a Hospital (the only 2 signs I own which are on a white background), and I chose the first because I can't remember of ever building one before; the hanging traffic light is also something I never managed to include in my MOCs, even if the idea has been there at the back of my mind for quite some time now - the red arches actually stand out a bit, and now that I think of it they could have been blended a bit better by adding a couple of 2x1 red bricks in the wall inder them, to reproduce the red & white pattern of the corners That's all for now; I may post some other thoughts/explainations in response to future comments. Thanks for looking LuxorV

Nice reconstruction, Tinn-man Indeed, a MF scaled Pikachu looks difficult to make. LuxorV

Again, I started off with a reference pic or two of the videogame version, and made my own: (pic links to gallery) As you may notice also from this LDD model file, there are some differences (like the propeller blade) due to pieces avaliability and non-existing pieces used for the game version The other MOC I worked on is a mini-scale version of the Mark VIII Liberty tank used in the desert fight scene of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (see under Design): (again, pic links to gallery) Here you can see scene I'm referring to (as if you needed it ): I know the front is its Achilles' heel, being it too high with respect to the reference, but I did my best on it, and that is the best configuration I could come up with without changing the treads' design Hope you like them LuxorV

Interactive Apocalypse: Profiles and Revelations.
LuxorV replied to Batbrick's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Great new bios and fast recap of the previous chapters. So now we know who Sheckles really is A good last minute revelation is always an useful plot trick The finale looks promising, with the human factions nearing the 'treasure', and an all against all and all against the Cyborgs fight seems to be inevitable. While it's a bit of bad news to hear that IA is ending, I'm not surprised, and I'm also a bit happy about that. I'm really sick of the last years' trend of never-ending, overly-complicated plots in TV series and so on. IA developed a great story, but in my view it shouldn't go on with an 'after the final-which-was-not-so-final battle' spin. On the other hand, this new ISV project sounds interesting, and I feel it should really suit your personallity (or at least your sigfig), and you'll surely get much impulse from the comics you read (I remember a very long thread about a discussion on Batman and maybe other DC comics between you and Brainbox ). I'll be waiting for it LuxorV -

Please, try to be more polite. This is valid as a general rule: even if you don't agree with somebody else's posts, don't be so rude. Thanks LuxorV -
Well, thanks again for the comments Expect something new in the next few days LuxorV

Great job, Hound Knight! They bear a great resemblance to the originals, while still being clearly LEGO-styled and not over-detailed LuxorV

No, the topic is not dying, yet. And I hope it will stay alive for much longer I take note of the requests and I constantly follow the developments here. But my real life is asking much of my time now, and things won't get better in the next months (I'm completing the last year of my PhD, and I need to concentrate on the thesys, not counting field work and field trips with the students, that will start in the near future since we are now in the good season, and so on). I'd like to have the time to sit at my PC and make all these decals, but I already work on the PC for 8-10 hours a day, and I don't have the continuity to do that too (or my eyes will start to scream ). So I ask all the decal makers here on EB to join forces and take some of the request. If everybody could do a bit of the job, we'll have them completed in little time, with reasonably little effort on each designer I'm sorry I can do little for this now, and I hope you (both EBers asking for decals and decal makers) will understand and co-operate to solve this issue . Here is my entry for the EBCTC, a scene that can be commonly sen in front of the main Hotel in Classic Town: Main view Details of the left side Details of the right side Gallery (when public) It's been a long time since I last built something Classic Town oriented, and I found it very interesting and funny to have to come up with something for this contest. The two cars are a 4-wide pick-up and a 6-wide luxury car; since the rules did not state otherwise, I put them both into the scene, to mark the difference in class and the little Texan-like (everything is bigger in Texas ) appearance of the rich dirver. Btw, both have functional doors LuxorV
