Winners: A-1 The Meastro A-2 Henjin_Quilones B-1 mccoyed B-2 Henjin_Quilones C Exetrius A side quest that takes place at the end of Book II and start of Book III! A safe haven: Celebrating five years of Guilds of Historica Since the betrayal of Revolworld started five years ago, Historica has seen no real peace. Elemental monsters destroyed the landscape so familiar to generations. The king disappeared, civil wars occurred, Raavage rose to power and ancient races claim back their lands. So it's obvious many are longing for better days. Or better places... Yes, Historicans are adventurous. But that's mostly limited to exploring the mainland. And yes there's Varlyrio, but that's attainable by foot or small boat when the tide is low. So what lies behind the horizon? Harbor cities are sometimes visited by strange merchants with rare goods. Often speaking strange languages, but that's because they're coming from a different Guild. Or could it be that they are coming from way further? Categories. A. Homestead(1 and 2) "Finally! Land! Can't see if it's an uninhabited island yet, but it seems fit for a new and safer life for now. Maybe even for forever... " Build a newly discovered place to find refuge. Here you are safe for now! It could be just a shed on a small island, a lively unknown city or Ruins from an old civilization which is a perfect shelter to make a new start again. 1. New friends "Races unfamiliar and armor so strong it makes you wonder how to ever defeat someone wearing it. Yes, all these new people you'll meet are nothing you've seen on mainland." The GoH CMF challenge was one of the most popular ones, so let's do it again! Create 18 new minifigs that fit perfectly in the (new) world of Historica. Each minifig should have a description, front and back photo. And to finish your entry, an overview showing all the figs together. (1st: 97011, 2nd: 6918) (Previous contest) C. The journey. "Unless you own a dragon to ride you will need a ship. Small ones or large ones, it all depends on the journey!" Build a ship that will get you to your new destination. Awesome! Love all the angles and details like the green lanterns at the entrance! It gives me an Elder Scrolls vibe..

It was one of my favorite themes back in the day, so these remakes are bringing back some memories! So I totally understand that KaiNRG and Jaapxaap choose these sets to give them an update. Both did an outstanding job recreating these instantly recognizable sets. Check out the details for yourself in History Forum!

It's a witch, but without any skulls. And flesh compatible and it has the green tones your looking for. It's also one of my personal favorites: http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=hp093#T=S&O={} -
Guilds of Historica New Member Guide
Ecclesiastes replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I think you shouldn't worry so much how others build. Sure, your curiosity is fine. But just start building something and then use the feedback you get on your creation. That works better in my opinion, instead of asking so much before you even start to build! Everyone sorts differently, because what works for someone else wouldn't work pleasantly for me. I also have everything sorted by color and parts. It works perfectly for me. And those 1x1 black bricks are always at the bottom anyway But when sorting on part and color you can image I don't use large bins. I use a lot of drawers. Sorting is a pain, but once it's done everything is easy to find. -
Not at all, but if everyone starts a topic for every question they have it would become a mess in here. So like Windusky said, there's the new member topic where all the members are happy to help you. Like soccerkid and Kai already did in here! (Locked)

Does Gimp have a gradient tool? Because that's how to do it in Paint.net

[MOC] CCC14 - Clarendon Castle
Ecclesiastes replied to Mark of Falworth's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Stunning all over, especially the white and sand green colors work really well in between the woodwork! -
Couldn't agree more, this is such a great theme to build in! And you did a wonderful job! And as always your photo's are stunning, I might say among Lego builders you're one of the best photographers for sure! I have to disagree though on what you've said on BB, that it lacks building techniques. I think that's a serious problem these days, there's way too much focus on showing a new way to use a brick. People often forget that just old fashion stacking can result in great mocs as well! Like the one above

Good use of colors, an interesting theme and sharp photography. This wonderful build made by Masseditor has it all! Make sure to check it out in History!

"Since the betrayal of Revolworld started five years ago, Historica has seen no real peace. Elemental monsters destroyed the landscape so familiar to generations. The king disappeared, civil wars occurred, Raavage rose to power and ancient races claim back their lands. So it's obvious many are longing for better days. Or better places..." "Yes, Historicans are adventurous. Or could it be that they are coming from way further?" From the top of the highest tower in En Egliam, Besdarc was overlooking the city Harbor. He changed his view towards the horizon. Five days ago he was staring towards the horizon as well, but from a Mitgardian harbor. There a merchant ship came in. Nothing out of the ordinary, it looked like it was coming from Kaliphlin. The crew even seemed to speak in a Kaliphlin dialect. Though something didn't feel right. Besdarc was even more careful these days because everyone, especially foreigners, could be spies from Raavage. Afther Gyrin heared them speak too, it was obvious to him they weren't coming from Kaliphlin. After questioning, they said they were. But Gyrin saw through that. The only way to find out where they were coming from was to get on the ship... Besdarc managed to get on the Shihosu, which wasn't easy as it was heavily guarded. It was obvious they didn't want any busybodies on their ship. It made him even more curious where he was heading. And more importantly, how much longer the journey would take. Four days had passed and the only thing he ate so far were two rats he managed to catch. But what was bothering most was the pain of his limbs, hiding between the cargo just wasn't good for the body... Finally, the ship arrived at a new harbor. Now he just had to wait for the night to set in. The ship was heavily guarded so it was obvious the docks would be as well. When sneaking off the ship he looked towards the city gate. It was still busy, a man who passed by greeted him by nodding towards him. He didn't get recognized as an outsider. Which made sense looking at the clothing people were wearing, all kind of colors and styles. Even when entering the gates, the guards hardly seemed to notice him. With so much unexpected freedom he decided to explore the city. He came to the conclusion it wasn't linked to any of the Guilds. It even seemed the Civil Wars or anything that involved Raavage didn't affect life here at all. Though they must travel a lot as some of the animals he saw were known to come only from certain areas in Historica. Looking towards the Harbor again, Besdarc's mind suddenly went on overdrive: "What if this is just one of many unknown islands. What if there were many more. Even bigger. With large cities and even more advanced. And what if those lands knew of the Guilds, this city knew so why wouldnt they. Could it mean that we should fear an invasion in the near future? What if... Stop it, you're overthinking it. One thing is sure though, we definitely need to get exploring..."

Just by looking it this creation the tune of the beginning of the series starts playing inside your head. That's how well this is made. And it's not the only one, Legopard has made three more of these microscale wonders. And there's even icing on the cake. Just as shown in the series' intro, there are moving parts! So you should definitely check it out fast in History Forum!

Somewhere in the vast coldness of the Frozen Beyond- A cold, raspy voice could be heard descending a staircase. Rissah: "I'm surprised you found this place, my old friend. Well, maybe not so much. Though resisting this much cold is impressive, even for a druid like yourself. It's unfortunate that The Algor Keep is reclaimed by those miserable Chorians. Although I guess you had something to do with putting a hold to my progress at Ragau . Even beheading my precious Bulldrasil. The Ramaah are fierce but they couldn't have managed to pull that off without help from someone like you. I should have watched over that battle back then, but I had other matters to attend. I didn't like to go there, a bit too warm for my taste but it was worth the trip. Oh, before I forget, my apologies for your friend's demise. He was just too noisy. Coming to the Algor was his mistake, I did take care of him though. Even showing him the battle at Ragau, you must have seen him. That poor Disan. Did you know we became good friends? He's here, accompanying some of my pets. Creatures like you are always well preserved once they're in these lands. He hasn't changed a bit since they had to retreat from Rachau..." Gyrin: "I see the passage of time hasn't made you any less long winded old friend." Rissah: "Silence Gyrin!!" An even colder wind came down on the fortress when Rissah spoke in anger and suddenly with a chilling change in her voice. Rissah: "Or do you wish to suffer the same fate as Disan right now? Oh, the way that man screamed for your help, but you weren't there to help him. I bet you were the one who sent him out on his own into the Beyond. I may have ended his life, but his death is on you!" A few tears appeared on Gyrin's face. Disan was his best friend, he found Disan as an orphaned baby and gave him to Elon Chorian to be raised at the court. When Disan reached the age of fourteen he left the court to accompany Gyrin on his many adventures. Now Disan's remains were used as Rissah's play thing. Though some tears were rolling down his cheeks, Gyrin spoke with a fierce voice: Gyrin: "His death saved thousands of lives, he managed to warn us before you started your hopeless quest. And now I'm here trying to stop this madness." Rissah: "Madness?! The true madness is that we are the oldest beings in Mitgardia and we are forced to live only here in the Beyond! Everything I grew up with has been destroyed, even the Surazal wells are all gone. Except for this one, that is protected by the fortress. The destruction of the wells must affect you too, I can see you haven't been drinking for quite a while. You're becoming old, Gyrin. Are you really here to talk me out of my madness, or are you just stopping by for a drink?!" Gyrin took another step onto the bridge when a reflection on the ice caught his eye. He looked up to see the blue sky. "Strange," thought Gyrin, "clear skies never occur here." He knew this must've been Rissah's doing. The Druid jammed his staff into the cold stone and murmured a few words. Gray clouds appeared, blocking out the sun again. Gyrin: "No drink today Rissah, and you should have stopped drinking long ago as well. It is clouding your mind. The darkness that enters the mind- that's why I stopped. The well grants you long life, but what good is long life if it makes you bitter and cold? I should have visited more often. Maybe I could have prevented you from turning into this- this miserable being, filled with hatred." Rissah, still standing with her back towards Gyrin, turned her head slightly towards him and smiled. She heard the druid's spell, but her grin revealed it wouldn't matter. Gyrin tried to plead with her one last time. Gyrin: "Rissah, you know what your call will bring. Don't do it, I asked you as your friend- look at your fellow Algus- once a wise race but now you changed them all into monsters." Rissah coyly grinned. Rissah: "Yes, you're right, once we were wise- but what did that ever get us?. And you're right, we used to be friends- but you disappeared for a very long time and during your absence much has changed. I never really trusted humans- but I always gave them the benefit of the doubt for your sake. Then Revolword came and showed me the true nature of humans again. His Elementals killed so many of my kind. We sought to reassert ourselves in the human's world but as strong as we are, we were repelled by Elon and his clansmen again. In that dark times I saw the light. I knew we needed a new ally. How does the saying go? The enemy of my enemy... Raavage is perfect, he wants to crush all you humans as well!" Gyrin: "Maddness! You know Raavage kills other races as well- you are not as safe as you think." Rissah: "Raavage can have the Darklands so long as he leaves Mitgadia to us. Raavage knows he is better off with me on his side. The only thing standing in our way are the poor Mitgardian souls, foolish enough to stand between the Algus and the Black Spire!" Gyrin: "Mitgardia will not stand alone!" Gyrin caught himself. If Erissa's source was correct, the heir to Cedrica may unite the other guilds and maybe, just maybe Mitgardia could stand against the Spire and their Algus allies. Gyrin looked at Rissah's cold gaze, but his momentary slip revealed much. She knew what he meant. The heir to Cedrica. Rissah's face finally showed some change, Gyrin even sensed that she may be scared. Now that Gyrin knew the truth she considered killing him, but her bitter heart thought it a mercy. With the Spire as allies, he should live to see the Algus rule the North. Rissah:"Leave now, before I make up my mind and let you join Disan. Be sure to say goodbye on the way out- my beasts are hungry and I have grown tired of hearing his cries. Take a good look at your friend's face- or what's left of it- because it will be the last you'll see of him. How merciful I am! Go now, leave!" Gyrin realized any attempt to reason with her was hopeless, but with the confirmation of the Spire's alliance, he needed to escape to inform Elon of what he discovered. Gyrin wasn't sure why Rissah hadn't killed him, perhaps she still had affection for him, perhaps she only wanted him to suffer more, perhaps she was still planning to end him here. A sensation of dread entered his body as he turned around and walked swiftly for the stairs. While descending, he turned back to his old friend and called out- Gyrin: "Farewell Rissah..." The words echoed through the keep. Rissah showed a toothy grin. Rissah: "Farewell indeed, Gyrin..." She turned around, lifted her head towards the top of the tower and called out: Rissah: "Light the beacon, let all the creatures of the true North assemble here. With the help of Raavage we will claim and rule Mitgardia!" One of the Elder Algus' standing on top of the tower used a spell and a bright blue beacon shoot up into the sky. The clouds Gyrin managed to make were not enough to block it, it spread like wildfire. Soon the whole sky was lit and from every corner you could here beasts roaring and howling. They all answered the call...
