Wow, that's great! I do recognise it from the movie, although I have to ask about the dual eyebrows - why are there two eyebrows?

LEGO Design Team – Open Call For Theme Ideas!
Multiverse replied to Masked Builder's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There is an application form? Why doesn't the 'leaflet' say anything about that? I was going to wait until the last minute to submit my ideas. A few other things - does it have to have illustrations, or can it be a text-only suggestion? And do I have to send an e-mail asking for the application to fill in? -
LEGO Design Team – Open Call For Theme Ideas!

I'd imagined that they won't be replying until after the deadline. -
7597 Western Train Chase for 375 DKK (which amounts to roughly £40)? It's half off the regular price. I like the Toy Story movies, but I don't care about the minifigs at all. If I get it, it'll be for parts only. Should I?

Rumor: Lego moving brick production away from China
Multiverse replied to Pro_Ice's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I like the tone of recent rumours. Lego moves production out of China and reissues classic Castle sets! It's like they're intentionally throwing us a bone. =) -
I hope so! I'm not very much into either, but for the pieces and building techniques, I would be several times more inclined to buy a LotR D2C than a SW D2C.

LEGO Design Team – Open Call For Theme Ideas!

It's still on. I think you can be anywhere on the planet and still have at least four days left to submit your contributions. =) -
With LotR and the Hobbit still running, it seems unlikely to be a new Castle theme... but I certainly hope it is! And count me in on the Gothic style fans! =D

All of those sets but the Shellraiser and the robot thingie seems like rushly designed afterthoughts to me. And I'm anything but inclined to buy even those. Although that's probably because TMNT represents my only experience with Megabloks; that one set that my brother got for a christmas present. It involved a slimy substanse (...or that might have been something he added, come to think about it...), and I spent years afterwards sorting the Megabloks out of our Lego collection. For all I know, there might still be a piece or two somewhere in there! So that's basically why I thought Lego would be safe from that particular license, which, no offence to the TV shows, I don't see fit for a Lego theme.

Wow! That's a cool creature! Now I'm certainly looking forward to seeing it in a set (I have seen the movies, but I hadn't really considered how the Balrog would look as Lego). =) While that design does look awesome, I doubt that's what we'll be getting in the set, though. For one thing, it seems unlikely that they'd reveal a set design so far ahead through a video game. For another, it appears to violate several of the official guidelines - the burning whip is made entirely out of an illegal and allegedly unintentional connection, and the wings are connected by only one stud, which isn't anywhere near enough to lift those wings. =(

I never knew that thing about the metallic coatings. Nor that the Troll King's crown was supposed to be copper! Thanks for clearing that up, and for the interesting facts. =)

That scan doesn't put me any less in mind of the Inika.

Lots of sets have many tan parts, though most of those parts are geared architecturally. If I were you, I would buy a handful of those sets (or simply PaB or Bricklink a bunch of tan pieces), and then supplement with parts from City or Star Wars to get the military look. Normally I would say no, but I personally think that the NRG spinners (and Lloyd's) are the exception to that rule. I got NRG Zane, and haven't regretted, and I expect that I might buy Cole and Jay as well at some point. Possibly even that training set with Kai. So even if you're not into spinners, I can attest for that set - though only if you like the minifigs, of course. If you're looking for alternate ways to get the minifig, why not try Bricklink? Of those choices, I would definitely choose the GE (which indeed, I have). Jabba's Palace has an insane PtP ratio (in the bad way), and Woody's Roundup isn't too good in that area either - plus, most of the figures are rather low on versatility. Pharao's Quest sets are good parts packs and decent showcase sets, but the GE beats them by far on both points.

Well, they kind of have to make the Master of Laketown, no discussion. It's Stephen Fry.

I can't answer your question, but I'm similarly puzzled over a piece I found in the Build-A-Minifig bin in the Berlin Lego Store: The Reddish Brown Dwarf Helmet. There were only one that I could find, and I bought it because I couldn't think of any set it appeared in, thinking it might be the only way to get one. Bricklink confirmed for me that it never appeared in a set, but 52 sellers are offering it.

Review: 9465 The Zombies
Multiverse replied to Multiverse's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'm afraid wrote this review in the beginning of August, so the set I was talking about isn't available that way anymore. =( I believe it was said somewhere that next month's exclusive is going to be something christmas-inspired, like what they did last November, if that's any help. But I'm glad to hear that my review helped you settle your mind! Thanks for the compliment. =) -
I would wait and see the prices for each line. Not considering that, I would personally go for Ninjago and, depending on the sets, Galaxy Squad. =)

I just placed an order for the Grand Emporium yesterday evening. I wanted to put it on my wish list for christmas, but I realized that I could save 10%, a reasonable amount for a set that expensive, by ordering it now and just wishing for money instead. So now I'm basically the kind of person who buys christmas presents for himself. Don't think I'm not going to wrap it, either! xD

@Masked Builder, Redhead1982 and Hawkman - thanks for your advice. I'm afraid I've missed out on the offer (and the fact that I don't feel so disappointed about it might indicate that I wasn't so excited about the set in the first place - which is strange, because all logic reasoning says it's a great set that should be right up my alley). But thanks a lot for the advice! =)

I'm considering buying Helm's Deep for £70, which is half the retail price in Denmark. I'm not a die-hard fan of LotR, and have no use for flesh figures, but I like the attention to detail in the LotR figures. I'm also fond of the variety of Castle pieces in there. I've previously considered HD a complete no-go, since the price point was so, to put it frankly, insane. However, at this price I'm tempted to get it. If I do, it'll be almost entirely for the pieces (although I like the structure).

I'm not a football fan at all, but there's one particular football player I'm rather fond of - regardless of never having seen her play. And since she happens to be a blonde with pretty much that hairstyle (and, coincidentally, a love of dogs), that's pretty much enough for me to want the football set. Now, if it'd used the freckled face with brown eyes (Mia, I believe), that would've made it seriously freaky. I'll probably get the magician set, since I lost the wand for my CMF S1 Magician (well, 'lost', I say... what really happened is that I got a 1x1 cone stuck on it). Speaking of which, isn't it neat how they simply copied the torso design on to a different mould? I did Karate for a few years, so I'll probably get that set as well (in spite of the kendo helmet, katana and bonzai tree, which all seem to back up the generalisation of all Eastern martial arts).

Oh. So that's where the money I'll earn next year is going to have went. I was going to have been wondering about that.

Haha! You could bring your own supply of lighter-than-air gas to fill in the cup and end up barely paying anything! XD

Here's the quote. ;) Now, that sounds like a suspiciously specific suggestion... =J And I would be pleased with that. It sounds nice. =)
