It is indeed funny that we distinguish between children's literature and adult literature at all, when there are so many children who are capable of reading adult books, so many adults who enjoy a good book of any kind, and so many works that borderline both categories. Classically, though, The Hobbit is considered a children's book, and LotR an adult's trilogy. I don't intend to follow those guidelines, though.

You'll want to hurry up with the PotC sets, since they're one of the next themes to be discontinued. Monster Fighters and LotR just came out, so there's plenty of time for those. A little less so with Dino, since it was released a half year before the others; on the other hand, it's a one-wave line, and a small one at that, so it's just what I'd prognosticate for a half-off clearance sale in a year's time. Star Wars seems to me to be (but isn't really, it's just a joke) released in one large, continuous wave, and each set is released at least once every three years. I wouldn't know about those. So, my advice: Get a few Monster Fighters sets because they're awesome (say, the Castle), a few early Ninjago sets if you want that (because they've reached the point where each new wave takes another one down), watch out for sales with all the other stuff, and wait for someone else to come along who knows about Star Wars. =) I'm thinking the mill from 7189? =)

I was reading How To Teach Quantum Physics To Your Dog (by Chad Orzel), but I'm taking a break from that in order to delve into the books I received from Amazon yesterday: The Ruby In The Smoke (by Philip Pullman), 50 Psychology Ideas You Really Need To Know (which, credit where credit's due, I only knew about because of Sisco's recommendation a few posts ago) and 50 Physics Ideas You Really Need To Know, in the same series.

Is that a 180-degree camera, or an enormous room? I'm having trouble deciding.

LEGO's 80th Anniversary... of what?
Multiverse replied to davee123's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The first one is the more correct of the two, but the double 'O's still make that unfortunate sound of the Danish U, which isn't supposed to be there (making it sound like 'Ulla', which is a Danish girl's name). Try shaping your lips literally like a big O and see what sound comes out. That should be how the O in Ole is pronounced. =J -
I skipped out on the Beach set in spite of not having the S2 Surfer, but I'm pretty sure I won't miss these, even at the steep price of the Beach set. They're too compelling for that! @Hive: If you want the elf, you could get the VIP minifigure set. It's a littlemore expensive, but I'd say worth it if you're missing more than one figure in the collection.

It is. ^_^

Absolutely! Although it was rather brief - I'd say ten minutes. I'd been planning it for a long while, so I knew what to get and could grab and secure it quickly.

LEGO's 80th Anniversary... of what?

Well, there's not really any 'U'-sound... come to think of it, it's also more like the O in 'Lego'. -
LEGO's 80th Anniversary... of what?
Multiverse replied to davee123's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ole is his first name, and I believe Kirk is his middle name. As for pronounciation, it's O- as in 'Olympics' and -Le as in, well, 'Lego'. Or 'Levitation'. It used to be a very common Danish name. -
LEGO Sale in Denmark - When?
Multiverse replied to MadManMingo's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I've ended up ordering another Finn Mcmissile from their website (and I know that seems strange, but I need the specific parts for a minifig S5 stand). I accidentally grabbed one of those blue Maters instead of one when I was at the store. I also threw in a bunch of S7 minifigs with the order, since the ones I got at the store didn't complete my collection completely. -
LEGO's 80th Anniversary... of what?

I'm disappointed in the presentation of this video; I find it outrageous that it would be marketed as anything but a commercial. The script is terribly self-praising and is clearly twisting everything into its best meanings. I've no doubt that all of Lego's creators were indeed noble and decisive people, but I dooubt they were as flawless and idealistic as this. I don't want to see them as flawless and idealistic as this, since it feels strongly like indoctrination. It's clearly not Mr.Kristiansen himself speaking (not that I think anyone would've expected that), since he would've been able to pronounce his own name and those of his father and grandfather (the narrator is mispronouncing their names in a way that is both hilarious and tear-wrenchingly emberrassing). Also, why are they all speaking american? In my mind, whenever somebody who isn't American or Australian speaks English, they speak some type of a British dialect. =) Another thing we should be aware of: "Det bedste er ikke for godt" doesn't mean "Only the best is good enough", but rather "The best is not too good". All things considered, there were things I liked about the video. There was that hilarious scene when Ole was looking for a name for his company and that truck drives by. =J -
The set has now appeared on the Danish S@H. The price is 899 DKK, and the release date is October 1st.

I would say the Funhouse Escape, though I might be biased in my affection for the Dynamic Duo.

The Artist. It's beautiful.

Monster Fighters 2012
Multiverse replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
In my personal understanding of classic monster terminology, a zombie is simply a living dead, not something that can be passed on through bites, so I'd like my zombies to look like something that's been dead for a while. I wouldn't want them mixed up with vampires or werewolves. -
I don't know whether I think 'damn' is swearing. I've always thought of it, I guess, as some kind of <insert that tiresome argument> swearing. I don't swear, and I don't say 'damn', but that's not by principle, but rather because of lack of impulse (it never comes to my mind to proclaim dissatisfaction in any way that isn't likely to change whatever it is I'm dissatisfied with), so I wouldn't know what category that puts 'damn' in. Swearing is pretty much a subjective thing. I feel pretty confident that Legocrazy's mother knows that there are people who thinks 'damn' is a swear word. And since she uses it anyway, it seems unlikely that she would care. EDIT: Oh, I applaud that word filter! I presume my meaning gets across, regardless of it. =J

The Unofficial LEGO Collectors Guide RAFFLE
Multiverse replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The choice was tough between CC, GG, the Grand Carousel, Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower and this, but I would pick set #852293, the Castle Giant Chess Set. I didn't play chess when it was in stores, so I missed out on it, and it's been tearing me apart ever since. -
Monster Fighters 2012

Funny how opinions can vary so slightly, yet so definitely - I agree with you about the train, but the hearse is the first set that made it onto my must-have list; The figures may not be exclusive, but I can't get too many vampires or steampunk doctors. -
Monster Fighters 2012
Multiverse replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
@Darthpotato, LOTR343 and Maniac4Legos: I cannot fathom how you can pick only a few sets from this line! I cannot fathom how there is be any set in this line (apart from the train and the promos) that anyone can not be in love with! -
I seem to recall one in my local toy store containing the Skull ATV, the Skull Motorbike and that small set with Kai and a skeleton that jumps out from behind a bush.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Multiverse replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
While I can imagine Mr. Freeze in a smaller set, I can imagine White Batman will be a little more expensive. And what would Aquaman be doing in a Batman set? I agree that these figures (prisonsuit Joker, Doctor Quinzel and the prisonguards) are a pretty good indication of a remade Arkham Asylum set. Seeing these minifigures gets my hope up about its quality, too. =) -
What do you do with your sets/MOC once you've built them?
Multiverse replied to hellopike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I usually don't wait long - when I buy a set, I do it for the parts, so the question is really whether I even want to build it first. With Modulars, Winter Village and landmark sets, it's a different thing, though. I don't plan on taking them apart at all. -
Well, not today, but last sunday. I've built all the Monster Fighters sets, and my brother built Shelob Attacks. I've just finished sorting the rest of the pieces.

Review: 9465 The Zombies
Multiverse replied to Multiverse's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the compliments, everybody! I enjoyed writing it, and I'm glad to know you enjoyed reading it! =D Funny you should say that - I found myself thinking of the Addams Family theme while building this. Oh, thanks. I'm a bit of a novice to photographing (and I'm not used to such a good camera as this one) so it's nice to have some advice on that. =) (Curse you, Castle!) (Curse you, Lord of The Rings!) (Curse indeed you, Harry Potter!) (And actually, Curse you, Monster Fighters!), since I'm even deeper in love with both the Vampyre Castle and the Haunted House than with this one. (At the same time, bless-bless-bless bless all those lines. And that's coming from an atheist! )
