LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
icm replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I would imagine sets like that would resemble the $25 Ilu Discovery from Avatar 2 in pricing, build style, and minifigure count. -
Not so odd considering the precedent set in 2021, when the West and Bale cars were released at nearly the same time, and (in the US) the Pattinson car a few months later, resulting in three separate film Batmobiles hitting shelves in the same calendar year. Plus a Keaton-inspired 4+ version, for four playscale Batmobiles total, not counting the revised UCS Bale car. People complain, but in my opinion 2021 was a crazy good year for Batman. Edit, ninja'd.
-
You know what, just give me four modern Johnny Thunder sets and I'll call it good :)

Oh boy, I hope it's radically improved since the last one. I was never very impressed by either of the previous UCS X-wings, but the state of the art has advanced so much since 2013 that they could really do a terrific job on the next one if they tried. -
In the US the pirate ship, castle, and Galaxy Explorer are all $100, or at least the Creator sets were when I got them before the price increases. Offhand I don't recall whether those two went up in price in the US or not.
-
I would unironically love a UCS Quinjet. But I wouldn't pay several hundred dollars for one - I'm pretty happy with the $100 playscale Quinjet that came out in January.
-
For that price I would expect a BIGFIG BATTLE PACK: Hulk, Thanos, Lizard, and Goblin with side builds of rocket boots or rocket hoverboards for everybody! Oh wait, they don't seem to make bigfigs anymore.
-
Um, you do know that the Galaxy Explorer is at the price point of the Creator castle and pirate ship, don't you?

So what happened to the rumored $35 starfighter from Mando s3? Did that turn into the $35 swamp speeder? What happened to the rumored $100 Fang Fighter vs Tie Interceptor? Did that turn into the $100 unknown/maybe Ahsoka series set? -

The Endor landing pad and shield dish haven't been done as sets before, but they're recognizable and playable enough that there have been quite a few fan builds of them over the years. I can imagine a $150-$200 playset being made from them, or a $350 MBS set if we're really coming out of left field. Not that I've ever seen a fan build of those locations and wanted to have it for myself. This is pure speculation, of course. I'd much rather have a big Yavin base playset, but that wouldn't fit the RotJ 40th anniversary. -

Easy there, tiger. That's what we used to call in English class a "hasty generalization."
-
I got the Quinjet and I think it's almost perfect but not quite. I have no interest in the Bowie. YMMV.
-
One might speculate there will be a movie car or two later this year. At this point that's just wishlisting and speculation though.

Someone in Reddit the other day (or maybe it was somewhere else) was wondering why we can't get a $200 dragon set. Well, looks like they're getting their wish. Dunno what the price of the dragon is but at ~2400 parts that's in the $209 range. But maybe whoever-it-was wanted a different kind of dragon for $200. You know, the way us Space folks want a great big spaceship but not necessarily that great big spaceship (speaking in generalities, not specifics).
-
Yeah, that doesn't count.

It took 13 years for the Queen Amidala figure on the first Star Wars Episode 1 Lego boxes to be turned into a real minifigure. But that was a different era of box design.
-
Yeah, I guess you're right. I'd never looked at the building instructions for the Council of Elrond set before.
-
Looks like the center support underneath the plinth the Ring sits on is intended to resemble the Eye of Sauron surrounded by negative space. Whether or not that's a galaxy-brain hint that Barad-Dur is in the works, that's a neat little Easter egg.

I dunno, when I think of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" the iconic location that immediately springs to mind for me is the dwarves' cottage - the dwarves are right there in the common title of the fairy tale, after all. I rewatched the movie not that long ago and I have no idea what the castle looks like. The castle is the side location in Snow White's personal journey. The dwarves' cottage is the main location in the story.

Legohio has posted a couple of fairly reasonable set descriptions for summer 2024. But of course, it's way too early to get any information for summer 2024, and Legohio is a notorious troll. So they're not to be believed in the slightest. -
