This next Old Mexico creation involves three arms traders who have set up a makeshift trading post near the ruins of a revolution-damaged building:

My 3rd addition to the Old Mexico Wild West sub-theme will find Senor Palomar outside his Pueblo Hideout:

BlueBard strikes again. I love the interior of the bar - my favorite part. Like many of us BB, you've really found a niche that works well for you. I love your modulars, in size and detail. I front-paged earlier for these reasons. Great job!
-
Wouldn't you like to go where everyone knows your name? Town fan BlueBard has created another fantastic modular, this time a Red & White Bar. Make sure you stop in.

Wow! These recent pictures are fantastic. It's great to see everyone in the holiday spirit. I see a very nice Santa's sled as well as some other little additions in the scenes.
-
Nice job Cutlass. I like the subtle Christmas additions. You also did a nice job on the magic box -clever.

Thnaks for the positive feedback guys. I've actually got a partial interior, but still working it. Zorro would make a great licenced theme, wouldn't it? I see what you mean. These bars gave me a lot of trouble. I tried a number of variations and rebuilds before coming up with what you see. I ran out of space for a horse, but Rosa's boyfriend is a bandito. Cactus, maybe. Yes - great torsos, aren't they? Thanks BB. I don't have dark red, but a nice thought. I originally had a very different roof design with every other vertical section off-set to create a Spanish-tile look. I ended up returning to the old classic-style roof. Thanks - Ninja. Marty Robbins singing El Paso On a side-note, I just found out that Playmobil may be looking at an Old Mexico theme (El Paso) for their 2011 line-up. Strangely, I just read about it yesterday. If they do "Old Mexico", I'd be very interested in seeing what they come up with.

Night-time would find me in Rosa's cantina; Music would play and Felina would whirl. -El Paso by Marty Robbins My second addition to the Old Mexico sub-theme, Rosa's Cantina: I'm still working on the interior. The sign is a custom decal. Additional Pictures Front: The begger torso is that of a White Ninja: The Imperial Guard serves as a nice officer of the Mexican Army: Rosa with jealous boyfriend: Custom decal: Spanish style window with bars: Side view: Young Mexican lad taking his first drink (note, he didn't listen to his mother who warned, "don't take your guns to town": Right angle: Comments welcome

Great ideas guys. Thanks for the tips. I love that snow plow. I spruced up 6444 Outback Airstrip last night to make a Christmas Tree lot. I'll have to take a look at the Arctic sets as well. I might be able to use one of the sleds.

Let's keep the spirit of the holidays flowing in these Christmas/holiday topics, shall we? Some people will stock up to sell on Ebay and trade for diamonds, that's a free market; and although it doesn't seem fair to those without, it's all about timing and availability near you. I think we'd all agree that it's a great little set, and if you were lucky enought to get one, then that's fantastic. If you weren't, maybe we'll see the set become available next year.

ARTICLE: Five Things I Did While Waiting for the Winter Toy Shop
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Town
The set was definately worth the wait. It's a great little starter set for a larger winter village. -
In my quest to add official sets to my Winter Village, I thought I would modify 6444 Outback Airstrip as a tree lot. The result is this simple little MOC, I call Bob's Christmas Tree Stand.

So I now have a Winter Toy Shop nestled under the fireplace mantel, but I'm looking to easily expand the old winter village. I was looking at Harry Potter's Shrieking Shack (4756) thinking, here's a perfect set for a winter village add-on. The only problem is that it's a bit spooky and the Christmas Carolers seem to be avoiding the boarded building. What might make the Shrieking Shack a little more festive? Holiday decorating tips wanted (or) What other official LEGO sets might make a nice addition to a Winter Village? Tips needed

Here's mine, displayed on the bottom of the fireplace: And a close-up: I'm still working on some additions, but I love the set.

Next to snowy peaks, by frosty streets, on fireplace mantels, with lots of Santas... LEGO Town fans are busy like Christmas elves diligently building their Winter Toy Shops in time for holiday displays. Where have you displayed your Winter Toy Shop? Share an image HERE.

Thanks Otters. Yes, they've just about all been dissasembled. I've got a few of the train wagons lefts, but they'll be in the brick piles soon. For a long time now, I've been wanting to build a Mexican Village. Although progress has been very slow, I finally created the recent Spanish Mission in my sig below. Unfortunately, I needed some of the pieces for a winter building addition for the fireplace. I'll return to "the village" maybe some time near or after the holidays -but Confederates/Civil War is over now. I suppose you can say that the Union has taken them out, but the Mexican Army is coming.

Bricklingston looks like a busy little town. I hope that lava doesn't consume the little shop. Very nice PPE. I love the brick work behind it, adding to the charm of the set. This is the sort of thing that I was envisioning when I started the topic. I'll share mine this evening/tomorrow AM. I'm trying to expand the scene a bit.

Lego City's healthcare issue has just taken a turn for the best. This is fantastic Lgorlando ! I can't begin to mention all the wonderful details. I love the blue print image of the design (very clever). I think most would agree that this deserves front-paging.

EB Times is proud to announce the grand opening of a new comprehensive medical center, Mercy General! Designed by one of EB's most prominent hospital architects, Lgorlando, this five-floor state-of-the-art modular facility will resolve the increasing shortage of healthcare services that has plagued Lego City for a number of years. Visit the Trains & Town Forum to be part of the ribbon cutting ceremony. Now recruiting for physicians, nurses, and allied health personnel.

Thanks for the additional information Tony. I for one am looking forward to seeing some of the high-quality pictures. Based on the lack of responses to this topic, it sounds like not too many are interested in the calendar. That's too bad.

SRW Scenic Tours: Steam Through the Piney Woods
WesternOutlaw replied to SavaTheAggie's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Great picture. I love trestle-style bridges, and the trees look fantastic. Great picture Tony. Where has everyone been though? Did all our train fans hop on a fast train out of EB or what. Come on folks, why don't you start responding to some of these train topics. People appreciate feedback and it encourages new topics.
