Thanks for the feedback guys. I had initially used a black base later changing it to the red. I thought red went well with Fort Legoredo, as well as my Confederate Hideout. Interestingly, I had considered, but was really looking for two cannons set at the same angle - like the old HO train wagons transporting different types of cargo (tractors, pipes, engines, etc.) Actually photo-edited for the picture, but here's the real deal, which I just completed. I call them "Confederate Bricks": Thank you Christopher. That's a really nice compliment. The great feedback inspires me to continue building.

REVISED IMAGE: This time our Civil War adventure will lead down the tracks to an Artillery Transport wagon. Not sure if I should post in Train Tech, I opted for the History Forum since it is a Wild West MOC:

Fantastic train station Brickzone, and a fine village "to boot". I especially like how you incorporated the "Legoredo" sign above the station. The entire scene captures a wintery season very well. The station is packed with fine details making it the focal point of your village, although the castle-like structure also captures some of my attention. Great colors and design. I've been wanting to build another station myself, but Wild West, rather than winter. This motivates me to break out the pieces. I hope you don't mind, but since I think this creation really focusses on the station with Emerald Night, I'm going to move this topic into the Train Tech forum. I've left the link in the main Trains & Town for anyone that might spot it. This is certainly deserving of a front page, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it blogged on Classic Town. Great job! EDIT: Are those classic red shutters at the ticket counter - fantastic!

Winter has arrived early in the sleepy little town of Legoredo. The beautiful Emerald Night huffs and puffs as it makes its way into the station. What snowy seasonal activities might be the reason for arrival to the winter village? Perhaps a Snow Box Derby, some might ask? Whatever the reason, Trains & Town fan Brickzone has certainly created a fine winter station and village. Make sure you check out more images of his wintery LEGO wonderland, right here on Eurobricks.

Nice work Cagri. I like the size of this much better than the official Octan tanker from the My Own Train collection. I think we'll front page.

LEGO Train fan and Ambassador Cagri creates this splendid little Octan Tank Car. Check it out here.

Thanks Joey, but I consider photo-editing the canvas top just like making a custom decal. I'm a big "traditionalist" myself that doesn't like to use/ruin official parts, but I think the photo editing of the wording simply demonstrates what one could do to create a Civil War sub-theme out of the official line. I could also print a custom decal with the wording and tape it to the canvas if I like the result of the photo-editing (which I have done before). In any case, it's just to capture different looks, this one like the Playmobil wagon.

I know that there's been a lot of discussion about why LEGO fans like the Wild West theme, but I'd like to revisit some of the "more fun aspects" of the theme. Just what makes Wild West so much fun?

Thanks fellas. Good eye Batbrick. After turning the canvas top around, the Union emblem was still visible. I had to "white it out", then add something to give it a Confederate-look. I was trying to capture something like this: I always wondered why LEGO didn't at least use brown wheels for their WW wagons. Only one small set had used brown. It goes in spurts. Great sub-theme, isn't it. If Playmobil designed for younger kids can make Civil War sets, why not LEGO? Good research Penguin. I didn't spot it on the Web until looking for some "official-looking" Confederate wording. After searching, I found the picture you shared. While I don't think it's authentic (I could be wrong), CSA stands for Confederate States of America, and ANV for Army of Northern Virginia - if anyone is curious. Thanks CGH - but this is mainly just a color change of the official LEGO Weapons Wagon, and a slide change to the front by using the brown 1x2 tiles. As I was looking at the official set and pieces, I thought to myself, "what a fantastic little set". LEGO really did a fantastic job with their official WW line-up. I just wish I had more grey torsos to create an army. I'm rather limited on Confederate troops. EDIT: Thought I'd try revising the canvas (photo-edit) similar to the Playmobil Confederate Wagon:

Continuing my Civil War adventure, I present the Confederate Supply Wagon. This MOC is a slight modification of 6716 Weapons Wagon, using much more brown than the original:

Thanks for all the great feedback guys. I'm glad you like this MOC. That's a good suggestion KD. I had not thought about using a hole brick. Yes - just a little though. Most of my energy was spend building the exterior. See pictures below. Yes - custom made. I've been experimenting with some different backgrounds though to add more greenery associated with a Southern battle field and Civil War boxart. As KD mentioned, a very good idea as opposed to the square holes. I must admit that I'm still a little partial to the Grave Stone backdrops; but thanks. You're absolutely correct (from what I know about WW history). Thanks for pointing that out. Thanks CF The look that I was going for - thanks. Thank you BB. I'm partial to tan as well, and have a pretty good supply now - from Grimwell Manor. The round wall pieces did come in handy and are from Harry Potter's Sirius Black's Escape. So, let's take a look at some "behind the scenes" images of Confederate Hideout: The entire creation: Cannon dugout: Wall wreckage: Left side: Front: Second floor: Second floor (different angle): First floor: Back: Thank you again for the feedback. The comments really help motivate me to build more.

Much better Jeff. I saw this set at my local TRU recently. I thought $50 was a lot to spend on a boat, even a nice one like this. I think the last fire boat was around $30. Very nice details on this though. I like the cabin and the steering room. I would love to see LEGO offer a fishing boat, tug boat, or exploration ship as part of their fleet.

Continuing my aquatic expedition, this evening I will be reviewing one of the smaller Atlantis sets, 8056 Monster Crab Clash. Theme: Atlantis Year Released: 2009/2010 Pieces: 68 Minifigs: 1 Price: $6.99 (USD) purchased from Toys R Us One of the most enjoyable aspects of the Atlantis theme is the boxart. Take a look at the back of the box: Our favorite clone Atlantis diver Bob, makes his way into this set as well. Same torso and face from 8060 Typhoon Turbo Sub: Good ol' Bob has the turnable face with his expression of wetting his pants after seeing the Monster Crab: This set includes the first amulet with image of the crab, as well as a harpoon and fins for Diver Bob: Stickers! (run and hide Diver Bob, they'll never stay on the crab under water!) So let's take a look at this Monster Crab: It definately has a big bite: And six bendable legs with new ferocious claws: The claws are certianly large, with two the length of the harpoon gun: Poor Bob is trapped in the crab's mighty jaws. Will he ever escape from Atlantis? And lastly, an image of our Monster Crab from the instructions: Thoughts of 8056 Monster Crab Clash (although I want to say Crunch) is a nice little set that makes a great "stocking stuffer" and introductory set to the Atlantis theme. A little pricey at TRU, I would value this set at no more than $5 (USD). It does; however, provide a few nice pieces, especially the large claws and orange fangs. Equally nice is the #1 amulet with picture of crab, and Diver Bob minifig. I love the new divers with their yellow-green faceplates and lime green arms and fins (making a nice diver suit). The set is fun and certainly a nice addition to any aquatic scene.

Diving into the depth of Atlantis, I present to you this exclusive two-part Eurobricks set review of 8060 Typhoon Turbo Sub. PART 1 Theme: Atlantis Year Released: 2009/2010 Pieces: 197 Minifigs: 2 (includes one human and one shark man) Price: $24.99 (USD) purchased from Toys R Us Pictured on the back of the box is various images of the little red sub: Unlocking the mysteries of Atlantis involves collecting the five amulets (one contained in each set). This set includes the yellow amulet with image of the turtle: Images included within the instructions include a number of nice Atlantis artwork: New LEGO made for kids would not be complete without the decals: The set includes two minifigs, one human and one shark man: Both figs are nicely designed with printed designs: The wonderful new trident piece with lime green fins for the diver and turtle amulet: Now lets dive into the submarine, shall we? The front end has two large propellers: A side view: A close-up of the front end: From a different angle: Cockpit cover. The yellow looks good for this set: Opening the hatch: The tail which has a rotatable propeller: The middle section has an assembly which slides causing the large front propellers to turn: Opposite view: Bottom view: A firing gun is also attached to the left propeller assembly. Turning them reveals the gun: This concludes part one of this two-part image review. PART 2 So what do you think of this set? Let me share my thoughts. Just the thought of an underwater theme is exciting, especially Atlantis. Many AFOL have been asking for an Atlantis theme for some time. Did we get what we want? Not exactly. The Atlantis theme is definately a "kids theme" driven by vehicles, not very dissimilar to AquaRaiders. Unfortunately, the theme and set collection is definately NOT Divers that can be easily integrated with CITY; rather it is futuristic with submarines like this one, that resembles a Star Wars Pod Racer. This is my first Atlantis set purchased for $25 (USD). I'd say it's certainly better than my initial experience with Space Police, and a whole lot more enjoyable. I actually found the build of 8060 more challenging, especially for younger children, and was pleasantly surprised when I accidently slid the inner workings that caused the large propellers toward the front of the sub to turn. New elements like the yellow cockpit hatch certainly make the theme more exciting, and this particular sub almost has a Nautilus like tail-end making me like it even more. I don't particularly like the need for stickers to enhance the design/look, but I'm sure that applying them would certainly add some color and detail to the otherwise all red sub. I'm loving the new divers suit and even shark man is fun. I'm sure kids will particularly like this minifig. The amulet is particularly interesting and I like the thought of collecting them when buying each of the Atlantis sets. Overall, I'd probably buy this set again, and am looking forward to purchasing a few more of the Atlantis sets.

Excellent Ralph! Love the design and the banner on the side. The road, bus stop, and taxi are equally impressive. I think this beautiful bus is deserving of a front-page blog. Great job!

Town fan Ralph S has created a wonderful London Routemaster Bus.Depicted on a SNOT brick-build road complete with bus stop and taxi, your next stop must definately be the Trains & Town forum.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I always enjoy reading your comments. Because of the tan wall in front, and in the back, the real deal looks a lot better than the image. I'll take a few more from the top to give you a better look - this was a bit tricky to photograph well. good one. I haven't heard that one before. Oh yes, I love those cypress trees. Definately a part of Wild West history that was missed back in 1996. I actually thought about that as well. I was originally going to call this creation, "Abandoned Farm House", but I liked the hideout name better. I think a perfect cannon for the WW theme. I like the longer design with the metallic look.

Very nice Coop! I love the colors. Red and tan always reminds me of the LGB starter train; although your wagons are certainly a more realistic length to go with that fantastic Cab Forward. And not only have you made one of these beauties, but three - that's what LEGO should have offered with the Emerald Night. Excellent and front-paged.

Pulling a trio of dark red and tan train coaches, Cooper's beautiful Southern Pacific Cab Forward returns to Train Tech station. Scenic observation, rest & relaxation, and fine dining are just a few of the amenities aboard his Passenger Coaches.

I thought I'd try my hand at building a war destroyed building as part of a Civil War MOC. The result is this Confederate Hideout:

Thanks CH. In retrospect, I should have created a new WW backdrop with some green for Civil War. Maybe I'll do some work on it.
