  1. Nice review. I picked up a set last week, but haven't got around to building. I wish LEGO had made these in dark green though. They're just SO green. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Very nice, and definately well worth all the effort that you must have put into this Gcar. I love the old narrow gauge trains from this era, so you certainly picked a nice train to mod in LEGO. I especially like the boiler design. I think this fantastic locomotive is well worth a "front-page" blog. Thanks for sharing with us. Are you planning on adding any wagons? A Rio Grande caboose and a few train cars would really add to your already outstanding creation.
  3. Train fan Gcarstensen has been working on this amazing Cumbres & Toltec #484 locomotive for nearly a year now, and the finished product is fantastic. The actual 2-8-2 locomotive was a narrow gauge engine built in 1925 for the Rio Grande railway. Make sure you visit Train Tech to see the LEGO version.
  4. 8084 Snowtrooper Battle Pack In a Snow Village Far Away... Set Number: 8084 Set Name: Snowtrooper Battle Pack Year of Release: 2009/2010 Pieces: 74 Minifigs: 4 Components: Snow Speeder, Cannon & Radar Station Price: $12.99 (USD) Toys R Us Introducing the 2010 Star Wars Snowspeeder Battle Pack, a great winter set released early here in the US: The back of the box depicts a battle between the Snowtroopers and the Rebels contained in set 8083: The same image is pictured toward the end of the instruction booklet: The set contains two Snowtroopers (pictured front and back): as well as an AT-AT driver/commander and General Veers. Blasters and a rifle are also included. Back at the small Imperial Radar Outpost... General Veers seems to be picking up something on the radar. "let's take a look through the digital binoculars", he says to the AT-AT Commander: The Rebels seem to be launching an organized strike within their Snow Village: Snowtroopers are quickly sent to thwart their plans. The Rebel Scum easily outnumber the Snowtroopers. Snowballs begin flying through the air! Even Frosty is in on the action. Snowboarders attack! "Retreat! Retreat!" The Snowspeeder looks sleek and fast. This one even turns for added maneuverability: The Rebel Snowboarders and cross-country skiiers are faster though, and quickly surround the Snowtroopers: "We surrender! we surrender!" they plead. THOUGHTS As my first official Star Wars review, I must say that I had to pick up this set. What true Star Wars fan can not use an addition pack of Hoth Snowtroopers? For around $10 (little more at TRU), four figs, a cannon/radar station, and a snowspeeder is well worth the money. While one can not make an army battle with this single set for playability, you or your friends can purchase 8083 and let the fun begin. Nicely detailed minifigs, a turnable Snowspeeder, and flick missile makes this a really fun set. I may purchase a few extra for that Hoth seen I've always wanted to build. Hope you enjoy the review.
  5. I always enjoy your photographs. They're always crisp, clear, and vivid.
  6. Nice effort to create a Thomas, but you've got to work on your image linking and sizing. You'll find that more people will appreciate your work when the images are sized properly and displayed in accordance with what you intended.
  7. How much did you end up paying for this on Ebay? I think this is a fantastic set.
  8. Also - I love the custom decal. This is really an impressive engine.
  9. This one is my personal favorite Tony. I love the tan mountain and the tunnel. How large was the whole scene? Do you have a larger photograph of the entire display?
  10. And you felt the need to come visit my Mexican Village just to tell me this. Why would you even bother? -but thanks for the constructive feedback.
  11. This is outstanding. I love the color scheme. Front-paged!
  12. Some train builders have the outstanding ability to build real-life trains in LEGO. Train fan Scruffulous, a new member to EB, shares his most recent creation with the EB train community, his Class 66 Locomotive. With a custom "Fast Line" decal and sharp color scheme, this MOC is one fantastic locomotive.
  13. I've been looking at the wonderful torsos from Star Wars set 7113 Tusken Raiders thinking that they might make good outlaw figs. Adding a few Orient Expedition faces and an Indy bag and hat to the scene (as well as a few Indian horses because of the decorative blanket designs), the result is Bandito Brothers:
  14. Nice review legofan. I like the pictures as the two minifigs put the train wagon and accessories together. This is a strong 5 for me. Poll added, review moved to Train Tech, and front-paged.
  15. Nice collection of nutcrackers -and I like that clock too.
  16. During the early 90s, LEGO was producing a number of fantastic 9V train sets and accessories. Legofan takes us back to 1993 with a wonderful image review of train set 4549 Container Double Stacker. Complete with a cargo flatbed rail wagon, a truck with trailer, forklift, four containers, and two minifigs, this set has all of the outstanding features that we loved during this era. Make sure you check out the review of this set as the two minifigs put the cargo together, brick-by-brick. The review can only be found in the EB Train Tech forum.
  17. This really piques my curiosity- very interesting back story. If you have space Hinck, I'd love to participate.
  18. Thanks guys. Here's the latest. With the addition of the Mexican Church, that's about it for the buildings:
  19. This will probably be the last building addition to my Mexican Village. The Mexican Church replaces the much larger Spanish Mission as part of a facade/backdrop to the village. After looking at numerous real Mexican churches, I adopted a few architectural designs to create this MOC. I'm finally pleased with the building which looks good from a straight perspective. In fact, I'm almost tempted to expand the back with a simple rectangular addition with red roof, but my tan is getting pretty low now, having to salvage/replace a few pieces to build this. EDIT: Oh, and thank you for all the wonderful feedback to each addition. It truly has encouraged me to continue building.
  20. Happy Birthday(s) and Happy Holidays. -TB
  21. Very nice - and the Post Office really fits with the LEGO postal sets. This isn't a bad thing, but with the use of the two yellow arches in the front, I'm getting a strong McDonald's vibe.
