Underwater Action Themes Avatar Contest!
WesternOutlaw replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Oh - this is fun! Great idea for an avatar change. SPLASH! Okay, I'm ready. -
Yes - thank you for clarifying. I consider this contest sort of a 12V train restoration project with newer parts as the 7777 Idea Book came out during the 12V era. I'm not saying that fans of all eras won't appreciate the contest; but rather that 12V fans (and fans of early LEGO Trains) will most likely appreciate this type of building style. In any case, I look forward to seeing the entries.

Looks like the 12V fans will really appreciate this contest. I'm looking forward to visiting the FlickR group to see the entries.

Not a problem Reza. After I moved your topic, I was worried that you wouldn't find it here. Glad you did and I hope you enjoy the forum. EDIT: In regard to your pictures, some members don't have a Facebook account and will not be able to see them. The best method is to save a few on FlickR, Majhost.com, or Brickshelf and deeplink in the thread using [ img]IMAGE LINK[/ img] (without the spaces). Our max image size is 800x600.

Welcome Reza95. I think this introductory topic belongs in the Train Tech Registry though. I'd moved it accordingly.

-R8-: thanks for revisiting this classic 9V era passenger wagon. Many beat up the My Own Train sets, but I've always liked this car. Despite the roof that does not lift off, the color is fantastic and the first green passenger car that LEGO produced; surprisingly as green was so common in Pullman train cars. I love the use of the 2x3 windows and green doors making this car "more vintage" in style and design. Your pictures are real nice as well. Kwagge: it's interesting to see this car in dark green. Great alternate color. Back when I was building my Ghost Train, I used the basic design for this Haunted Train Coach: Brickshelf Gallery In any case, nice set and an equally nice review. EDIT: Oh, and I really like the My Own Train boxart; so different from other LEGO Train sets.

Hi Martin. Absolutely and welcome! It's fun to see children playing with LEGO Trains. Thanks for sharing that image. Looks like a nice set to be playing with as well. Hope you enjoy our LEGO Train community.

Thanks for sharing Jaster. Very nice layout.

Hi -R8-. Glad to have you part of our Train Tech forum. I was admiring your review of one of my favorite passenger cars, 10015 Green Passenger Wagon. Nice! I hope to see more reviews and MOCs from you in the future. Enjoy!

And it's an awesome first train, one of the best ever made in my opinion. Great set to start your collection. Welcome Brickdoctor. I hope you enjoy the forum and look forward to seeing some of your MOCs.

You should deeplink a few images in this thread. Some do not have a Facebook account. You do this by using a [ img ]link to image[/ img ] - note NOT to use spaces.

It looks good in light grey AJ. Usually I find the newer light grey rather "new looking", but combined with the black, it contrasts nicely. You've got a nice collection going.

Getting started in LEGO Trains - What to buy?
WesternOutlaw replied to MrTools's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi Serge: we've got a number of Train Tech topics related to "what should I buy", "what should I add", and "where to get started" with LEGO Trains. I'm going to merge this topic and after seeing you as one additional member who has asked the recurring question, I may even create/merge one singe topic for beginners or parents who want to buy that train for their little tots. Topic temporarily closed but will be merged soon. EDIT: Topic merged- 191 replies

Willoughby? You don't say. At first I was having a flashback of Murder on the Emerald Express, everyone's favorite EB mystery. Killing George! help us all. Sorry, back on topic. Looking forward to some pictures LCM.

MOCs: Locomotives of the Texas State Railroad
WesternOutlaw replied to SavaTheAggie's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hey Tony - I think this awesome collection deserves some front-page attention. As always, a beautiful collection of locomotives. -
Spotlight in the Train Tech Forum! LEGO Trains is certainly an enjoyable theme, especially when seeing the detailed creations that some members share among the train community. Many are familar with the works of EB member and LEGO Train fan SavaTheAggie who draws much of his LEGO inspiration from the Texas State Railroad. One of his recent builds is this amazing Texas State Railroad Ten Wheeler (4-6-0) Engine #201. If the beautiful vintage steam locomotive 201 does not impress you, how about his complete collection of Texas State Railroad steam engines and diesel electric locomotives, plus a motor car: Make sure you take a moment to admire the detailed LEGO Train locomotives of SavaTheAggie and leave a comment in Train Tech.

WesternOutlaw replied to 22kane's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Once we get the details worked out and are ready to start, I'll be glad to front-page. On a side note, we should also have a nice graphic to depict the contest. -
Hi Renewal/Louis. Welcome to Train Tech, although it sounds like you've been viewing the forum for some time. It also sounds like you have a pretty good collection of LEGO Trains. I too enjoy designing different layouts with a moderate collection of 9V track, although table tops are somewhat limiting due to space. In any case, welcome and I hope you continue to enjoy our LEGO Train community.

We could call it the "Cross-Over Challenge".
