  1. A nice addition to add some Christmas to your train DB. Great idea.
  2. Hello Brrrm and clcwong. Welcome to our LEGO Train community.
  3. I suggest you take a look at a LEGO color palette. There are a number of these on the web. JopieK provides one in his link above.
  4. Good deal - the Metroliner and Club Car are highly desired by many LEGO Train fans. Welcome. Hello Puma. Welcome to Train Tech. Cargo Trains are a lot of fun. I like the playability aspects much more than passenger trains (although the Emerald is a sweet locomotive). Hope you enjoy our LEGO Train community.
  5. Oh, I see. I should have known that. I've seen a few engines with the A & B units in real life. For whatever reason, I thought they were passenger cars in the picture. Thanks for clarifying.
  6. Very nice Grogall. I also like how you extended the red and yellow stripes to the passenger cars - a nice touch that LEGO should have done. A red baseplate makes a big difference to the otherwise drab SF cars.
  7. Hi Deeks - the Town Plan is certainly a fantastic set (what a great Christmas present - and a nostalgic one at that). I never had a monorail set, although the City one always interested me. In fact, I think it's one of thost "most desired sets by many". I'll have to take a look at the Futuron set - I forgot what it looks like. Sounds like you've got some nice LEGO train interest going. I'm glad to hear you were able to obtain two Emerald Nights. It's one of my personal favororites. Welcome and enjoy our train community. Hello Eness. It's nice to hear that you made the switch from O gauge trains. Now your children can enjoy building and re-building LEGO trains, and there's the whole City aspect as well. Sounds like you have a pretty large layout. Mine has always been limited to a small table in my computer room due to space constraints. In any case, I hope you have many years of fun with your children and LEGO Trains. Enoy the forum!
  8. As I said - the kiddies will love it! Just kidding Brickie. I have a thing for the spooky stuff, so don't feel bad.
  9. Hi Wiebe. I'm glad to see that you took a moment to introduce yourself to our LEGO Train Community. We're glad to have you join us. I never had the opportunity to get into 12V as they weren't available here in the US. How I wish I had a few sets. I'm looking forward to seeing your LEGO City of Brickdam. Hopefully you'll have some track around that city. In any case, welcome! Dhivael: sounds like you're off to a great start (and thanks to that Black Friday). I never had a Lionel train as a kid, but I did have some German HO-scale trains. I only have one remaining engine from the collection. They were very good quality back in the day. Hope you enjoy the forum and share a picture of your MOC once you complete. Happy New Year guys!
  10. I figured sooner or later, as speculation about the new Monster Fighters theme continues, someone would bring up the Ghost Train. This is right up my alley as I've always wanted to see LEGO offer a Ghost Train. Unfortunaly, it reminds me a bit of the old 6497 Twisted Time Train for the kiddies. It does looks a whole lot better and I like the darker overtone. There is always the balance between the amount of play and appeal for the kiddies with cost and quality design that we AFOL are interested in seeing. It definitely is a kiddie train, but that doesn't make it bad. It certainly is not the Emerald Night but it's fun and the kids will probably love it. I can see a lot of modification potential and for a spooky village scene, this would probably make a fantastic little train. My humble attempt to make a fun Ghost Train a few years back: and even another of the Wild West variety: See more images here. In any case, I'm glad to see LEGO offer a Ghost Train as part of a fun and spooky theme. EDIT: a black cattle catcher - sweet!
  11. Thanks much Mikka - appreciate that.
  12. Our site guidelines for images is 800x600 max. Please resize your oversized images.
  13. Are you new to EB? Are you new to Train Tech? Do you have less than 10 posts? If you answered yes to any of these questions, PLEASE introduce yourself before you start posting questions in the Train Tech forum. You can do so in the Train Tech Registry (if you're a LEGO Train fan) or the Community Forum/"Hello My Name Is". Why? Because we want to get to know you. Train Tech is a LEGO Train Community, not a 1-800 LEGO Help Line. While our more experienced members are always glad to lend a hand, please don't pop-in just to ask a question about your new train set or some new issue you're having with your first train/building experience. Questions of this nature might include: I'm having trouble with my... Can you help me build this... Where can I find this piece? Where can I find instructions to build this train? Which train should I buy? I'm new to trains and looking for... What's the difference between 9V and PF? Is track of different power systems compatible? etc, etc... It's not what Train Tech can do for you, but what can you do for Train Tech? While no question is a dumn question, contribute something to our community before you join to ask a question. Introducing yourself is a good start. When you don't, we end up with a forum flooded with 2-3 post topics with Question, Answer, and sometimes by the more polite newbies, a thank you. Questions from new train builders are certainly welcome, but again, please don't join EB/Train Tech just for technical assistance. This is most evident if your first post is a question about your new train. IMAGE POSTING: In addition, EB's site guidelines for posting images is 800x600 max. If you post pictures larger than 800x600, your pictures will simply be removed. You are most welcome to add back once they have been resized within our site guidelines. EB's site guidelines can be found here: Member Guidelines Thanks for your time and compliance with these guidelines. Please familiarize with these terms of EB membership. -TheBrickster Train Tech Forum Moderator
  14. I would recommend you introduce yourself as this is your first post on EB. You can do so in the "Hello My Name Is" Forum or our Train Tech Registry if you are a LEGO Train fan.
  15. Your description provides zero information of what you are looking for. Peeron also provides inventories of most sets. You can find 4511 High Speed Train here.
  16. Hi Bricktrain. I'm not sure I could have parted with any LEGO (esp. the Super Chief - one of my personal favorite engines). The good thing is your collecting once again - and some great trains as well). Enjoy the forum and Happy New Year.
  17. LT12Vs: I've been meaning to provide some additional feedback on this impressive locomotive for some time. I love this train engine! This locomotive reminds me of my early experiences with HO-scale German locomotives. They were heavy and stayed on the track, unlike many of the modern trains, but that was HO. Great job on the wheel design and pistons. That must have taken some work. Also, I like the separate battery for the lights - a nice feature. While this wasn't exactly a Christmas Train entry, you certainly made it around Christmas and for the impressive build, I am awarding you an honorary EB Train Tech Tag to hang below your avatar. In addition, this outstanding train has been front-paged! Congratulations on a beautiful LEGO Train Locomotive!
  18. BR84-009 by LEGO Train 12 Volts Christmas may be over, but visions of the BR84-009 LEGO Train Locomotive are still being discussed in Train Tech, thanks to EB train fan LEGO Train 12 Volts. This amazing 8-stud wide LEGO Train has original piston movement and even a 9V battery to help light its way. You can find more images of the BR84-009 in the Train Tech forum.
  19. Interesting you posted this Fred. A friend had sent me a link/video of the display over the weekend and I had considered posting. The entire display is truly amazing. Personally, I am most impressed with the airport, esp. the airplanes that almost take off. I also like seeing the trains journey through various countries, like the Western United States. This display provides a lot of inspiration for LEGO Train fans wanting to create a layout. Thanks for sharing and let's make sure we tie this topic back to LEGO Trains. EDIT: I did swap your topic description with the main title to help search/find in the future.
  20. Sevs: I would recommend you introduce yourself in the forum as you are a new member. You can do so in the Train Tech Registry if you're a fan of trains. Otherwise, the Community Forum is a good place to introduce yourself. Looks like you got your question answered, but its nice to share a little about yourself aside from just asking questions in various EB forums.
  21. Thanks for those of you who took a moment to post. thanks Capt'n Z, that's very nice of you to say.
  22. Sounds like this is right up your alley Sieg. I wish you the best of luck in being selected.
  23. I'm tempted to delete your triple-posted bump, but in the spirit of the holidays, I'll go ahead and leave it. Please don't triple-post. In regard to the MOC, I do love the animated train car, a quite clever feature.
