Murder on the Lego Express Part 1
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Sometimes a cigar is merely a cigar... Alas, the murdered victim has been identified by the one and only "not-so-swash-buckling-anymore" Mister Phes :^^D . His puffy white shirt has the crimson blood stain of a single bullet wound to the chest, but wait... You have also noticed something peculiar no one bothered to investigate before identification. Mr. Phes wears a scabbard attached to his belt but the cutlass is not within... Now, foul play is definately at work and you wonder which Eurobricks member could have done such a dastardly deed - and stole both the life and sword of the sea captain Phes. Chapter 2 of Murder on the Lego Express may reveil further clues to this murder mystery... -
How could The Lego Company Improve itself?

I was just looking at my new Falcon. It's blay, and I didn't even realize it. The light grays are close. -
OK people, I got rid of the cowboy and replaced it with Darth Maul. I should get a point for that, shouldn't I... (maybe I should have voted for myself...)

I think the theme will be successful to the less that 12 age group (they love dinos, monsters, and anything that goes bump in the day). The guns they can do without. It's not the guns that sell these sets, it's the dinos and vehicles. I'm sounding like a parent here, but we're making our children violent with all the shooter video games, big guns, and war - thus creating perfect soldiers... I just hate to see Lego jump on the band wagon.

Very good points "Half Soldier" - to quote a line from the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I agree with jindroush's points here. In fact, I thought they were made from cheaper plastic. I don't consider them Lego. I was disappointed with the 4+ Pirate theme (because I would rather see classic pirates brought back), but these appeal to a younger audience, and at least they are Lego with some of the same parts. (PS - completely unrelated: don't forget to visit the Train Murder Mystery if you have not already). -
Murder on the Lego Express Part 1

Through Bloody Jay's keen observations and detective-style prowess, the 13th Warrior discovers an additional clue that may help identify the murder victim who you have not seen but have chatted with over Eurobricks. Within the victim's right pant pocket, a unique Lego piece is found with the number x404c02 written on it. What could this be? Who would have such a piece? -
I really wish I had a fraction of this building talent. My MOCs never come out like this.
-
I really wish that I had replaced the flags several years ago when the set was new. I had a similar issue with the hands of the robot (battle droid arms) of the new Darth Vader Transformation. Just removing one of the hands, half the hand broke off. I hope none of my battle droids do the same thing.

What's done is done at this point. Why don't they just make some bulk old gray sets at a discounted price to move the old inventory and thus save mix up with old and new gray in the same sets? Would not surprise me in the least that sets will be missing new and old gray with this decision. I've said it a few times, my only issue with the change in grays is train track which at one time (I think mentioned by Jake) was that Lego would continue to make sets like train track in the old color (which did not happen). We'll see what happens.

I once built a large pyramid with front opening and used many of the classic knights as Roman and Egyptian soldiers. I built a few chariots and had a great very early Roman theme. The historic themes would be great even with opposing forces. I'd also like to see some Greek Mythology with some new monsters (similar to Vikings). Kids love anything with monsters too.

I've done some searches on various Lego websites and could not find them yet (still too new I guess). Looking forward to seeing the various packs.

Money or not, I think they're Lego's worst product ever made. They remind me more of Knex or other brand of cheap toys. As far as taking away from anything, I don't think that any thing they make will do that (aside from taking kids away from standard bricks) that Lego built a company on. I don't disagree that kids probably love them, and the comic books, and the cartoons. It's all about what and how they market. I'd rather see Lego market other more traditional products in the same manner. They could do it with Vikings, Star Wars, and others just the same and make them popular as well. -
Murder on the Lego Express Part 1

What... Upon further investigation, you discover some clues: - An unstamped train ticket (in the victim's shirt pocket) - A small sack of four gold coins (tied to the victim's belt) - A six shooter with four remaining bullets (definately the murder weapon dropped at the scene) Maybe one or more of these clues may shed some light. Who is this victim? -
Murder on the Lego Express Part 1

Appears someone believes that the disgruntled Sarg Kulo may have been the one that bit the bullet - maybe the muderer knows something that we do not and did not type a response. We have a Mr. M - M for MURDER... :^^D -
On a dark and mysterious night aboard the Lego Express, a band of Eurobrick members on their way to a Lego Convention in Prague make their way along the winding gorges, bridges, and tunnels of Europe. Shortly after dinner, some of the members make their way to the observation car, when suddenly, the train passes through a tunnel and the lights go dark. A faint scream is heard, then a gun shot. When the lights come on, a dead man sits in the corner with a bullet wound to the brick. You are the detective. Who was the murdered Eurobrick member? Who shot him? And why? Unveil the mystery of the Murder on Lego Express as part of this three chapter poll. (brought to you by the modest and humble Brickster *devil* who wants to keep the Train Forum alive). You can vote for his avatar at Language's Poll, Who Has the Best Avatar?

I'm still venting... -
Even with the magnets, they don't look too bad (any one know if the magnets come out)?
-
That avatar of Yoda is from Little Green Man (just found it on another post), but not in the above list. Nice image.
-
Sarg Kulo, I wouldn't sweat it. In fact, I almost did a poll myself after your initial message, but in writing down the names, I was over 12 in no time and couldn't seem to narrow it down to 10. I think it's just a fun thing to do, and if no body votes for Darth Maul, then they will have to be turned later! It's just a silly thing to do between new sets - like Phes's monkey posts and pirate surveys (I just can't believe I took both of them and tried to answer as best I could)! Take care
-
My vote goes to Mr. Phes. I like it because it's Lego, I like the color (background ocean), and it's prominent when you see it. Plus it's classic! No more pirate surveys though! There used to be an image of Yoda with saber that I always liked. May have been French Green Jedi but could not remember. This was nice visually. Apophis V's Battle Droid with fig is nice to- very creative and humorous. I'm partial to Lego avatars on this board.

The Royal Guard Tie Interceptor is awesome. I love the color. That would be a most excellent tie in my Imperial Docking Bay.
-
What's strange is that none of the clips broke off any of the blue cannon covers, only the flags.

Bionicle because I don't consider the pieces bricks (most of the other sets at least have bricks). -
What's nice about the Armada Flagship is the collapsing back mast, the Spaniards, and I thought the green pieces added to the design of the ship. It also comes with little extras like a compass and a stationary lantern in the back. I really don't remember the Imperial Flagship but the flags seem <insert that tiresome argument> (ship and figs are nice though). What's interesting about the Clipper is that after building a few times, most of the clips on the flags (large and small) broke off. I never contacted Lego for replacements, but I still have the ship in good shape. Did you encounter this with the older sets Phes?

I think you're in on the booty royalties! - and those damn monkeys! I was watching a SNL rerun last night (for those of you in the US), and the skit was an actor playing Sean Connery on a show called, "Celebrities Hit My Monkey Terds", or something similar. Connery keeps saying, "this isn't that show where celebraties get hit by flying monkey dung, is it"? "I think it is, why do I smell monkey feces"? The host, played by Justin Bateman keeps assuring him that it's not that show right before the chimp flings a good one right in his face. And the point of this response, you figure it out... But ye surveys remind me of monkey... :f)
