It's hard for me to vote because I have a few favorites, but I like the Cargo, Santa Fe, and BNSF. I particularly like the cargo because of the green pieces, the box car, and the fact that it's a complete set (with extras like the switch track).

There hasn't been much activity on this side of the tracks, so I'm posting this poll. What's your favorite 9V Train Set?
-
I came across this biplane on Brickset this evening => Biplane. Has anyone seen or heard about this? Maybe a new/revised theme coming out?
-
Red Dead Revolver and Pitfall with Johny Thunder (Jungle, Egypt, Orient Expedition) and maybe Train Sim (you could pick your engine, rolling stock, etc, then drive along new "blay" track, choo, choo... :)

If I didn't have 100+ pieces of existing track, I wouldn't even care what tone of gray the new sets come in. It's just that I want the pieces uniform. In any case, a really silly move on the part of Lego. I question if the bulk sets are the old or new color? Haven't seen or heard about new trains either this year. Definately a loss of revenue for Lego, but then again, I don't think that AFOL are really the market Lego seems to target (regardless if you're a Train, Star Wars, Viking, or other fan). I think if I was a Lego marketer, I'd start listening to the AFOL who probably spend the most $$$ on Lego collections. (maybe have some focus groups). Definatley Lego's loss.

This comes as no surprise that after receiving 10132 (a newer train set), the set did come with new blay "blueish grey" track. I pondered over this for some time then decided to send Lego SAH a note of dissatisfaction. Lego Customer Service responded two weeks later by sending me 2 curved rails and 2 straight rails with a note of apology. The replacement track was listed as "dark, stone gray" in the letter but was unfortunately, yet again, blay. The note indicated that only 4 track pieces were sent in case the color has changed, but recommnended that I contact a customer affairs supervisor if the track is the wrong color. I'll probably give up now, but I only hope that the bulk sets of track have remained the old gray to go with existing layouts. Have any of you ordered lately?

Trains, then Western "Other". Western cowboys ran just a short time, was a new theme for Lego, and offered unique colors and pieces not used before. Not that popular, esp. the indian sets which weren't as good as the cowboys, but unique and new to Lego. Would love to see the theme revisited adding a western train town and a Mexican village, fort, cantina, etc (with lots of arches) - a neat historic theme.

Harry Potter pictures, prices and piece counts
WesternOutlaw replied to sam89's topic in LEGO Licensed
Aside from the crypt and wagon, that's really disappointing. I think the "baseplate" set brings it all together nicely. A few coffins would have added to the set as well. -

I'm confused... I thought the baseplate set was the new one. Am I incorrect? -

I'm assuming that the link here => New Grave Yard is the new graveyard and the last link provided => the Old Graveyard. If this is the case (based on some of the previous messages, I like the new better with the exception of losing the crypt. Looks nice a neat structure to have in the graveyard. I have to admit, I'm not a big HP fan (only other set is the Motorized Train), but this set looks awesome. I love the two layers of brick in the back so that grave pits were possible. I'll definately be buying this set and plan to convert mine to a western Boot Hill graveyard with the use of some good hats and change in torsos. October will be a good month to release for Halloween. This set is very impressive! -
As I'm reading some of these messages, I find them really silly. It's only fair that both themes be released in both countries. May be a bad marketing decision on the part of Lego, but I really don't think Lego would intentionally pick one country over another (unless they have some sort of logical rational) for the decision. In any case, maybe SAH will offer both themes to both countries in the end. Many get carried away with speculation.

That's disappointing but really surprising based on the # of train clubs and shows that they have. I was expecting to see rolling stock to go with the BNSF (just like Lego did with the SC). I like numerous themes but the trains are among my favorite taking me back to buying a train as a child while in Germany long before available in the US. Took it back because of the voltage difference, and only many years later were trains available in the US (battery only). Now I love to see the new models and would love to see re-releases of the olders sets. Like most except for the Railray Express. Thanks for the hint, but at least gives us hope for 2006.

I bought my nephew one at almost half the price and agree. It's bad. Jipay: have you heard any rumors about 2005 trains or rolling stock for the BNSF? I read a few messages re. a container car but have not seen anything other than MOCs.
-
Here's a link to pics and discusion re. a double-stack container car: Yellow Double-Stack Not sure if this is what the previous message refers to. In addition, I read a message some time ago about a yellow container car with grey plates atop (the picture appeared to be rendered). Personally, I like the Cargo Set, in fact, it's one of my favorite train sets. I esp. like the box car (would buy a few more if offered as a single set). The engine isn't bad either, and the set gives you a point (1st to offer) and some nice green bricks. I would recommend as a great starter set.

This was probably by far, one of the worst Lego trains made. The item shows as "Call To Check Product Availability" in the US. Not sure why one would want it, esp. at $130 USD - other than parts (not sure Euro$) I think the new high-speed train (4511) is a much more realistic model and a better value (just don't get the vehicles). The Harry Potter train is also better and comes with a great station building and is $10 less. I really wish Lego would bring back some of the 9V cargo trains or 12V passenger upgraded to 9V rather than this.

No, you're getting it mixed up with Soylent Lego in which green Lego bricks are used by AFOL as food. Climactic ending involves Charlton Heston, a long-time AFOL, running from the factory yelling, Soylent Lego: they're made of people. Soylent Lego is people! - if they were just mini-fig scale... :()

LEGO military in microscale?
WesternOutlaw replied to Peoples_General's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Then again, I could see them trying to copy MegaBlocks these days. The model's not that good though. -
This is what I mean by a Thomas theme: Kid's Expo Buildings, mills, bridges, the whole 9-yards - wouldn't even need to be Thomas but a train building/structure theme. Any more details re. the new exclusive?
-
I really wish these were mini-fig scale. Some of the buildings would be great additions to the city theme.
-
Agree. We've been wanting Thomas for years and now it's being wasted on Duplo. Doesn't Lego realize that the 4 and under group is saturated with Thomas toys from various brands. A Sodor city for the AFOL would have been one hell of a theme. Another disappointment today...

Hand me my six-shooter, I'm aiming for those crappy dinos! The dinos remind me of Power Rangers with the bright colors and smooth finishes - but nice packaging! I'm very disappointed with this theme. Great concept, but would have rather seen Lego repackage their old dinos and bring back the adventure theme. :(
-
Based on this verbage, I'm thinking that the sets will be more detailed than Jack Stone or Duplo. "Exciting theme features awesome models with incredible function and detail". - But then again, I could be wrong. It's fun to speculate though.
-
Interesting that the article doesn't mention vikings.
-
Thanks for the info Bryan. Looking forward to seeing the dinos and the new vehicles.

One item category is definately missing from the list: Train-side buildings (i.e. water tower, mill, large train station) and bridges/trussels with a mountain tunnel. I believe I said this on another post, but what I'd personally love to see is a western train theme with some old classic town buildings, windmill, etc. It would make for a great "sub-theme".
