  1. Sarg Kulo and Athos attempt to unlock the box using the various combinations. None of the numbers are the right combination. The Brickster points out that the lockbox was registered in Snefroe's room, not Bloody Jay. Bloody Jay is with you. If you'd like to search his room, you can ask him if he'd allow it. You may interrogate any single member of the train staff but have to do so one at a time (if you have reasonable suspision; and if any passenger complains to train officials, this may thwart your entire investigation). It is highly unlikely that train officials will provide you a list of all staff and allow you to interogate them systematically. Let me point out that the train staff are just used to relay certain information at various points in time to keep the story flowing (like Rosa the housekeeper and the Waitor). Asking your questions to the waitor, he provides the following responses: 1) did they see/notice anything out of the ordinary during this trip? Yes, there's been three murders on this train, I'd call that out of the ordinary. I know many of the train staff, and none of them (at this time) have seen anything else peculiar. 2) do they recognize any passenger as a regular passenger? No, the Security Officer conducted an investigation and from what I heard, most or all of the passengers have never been on the Lego Express before, but then again, we serve a lot of passengers. 3) especially the train conductor: how did he know how to contact Mr. M, a friend of Mr. Phes. he must have known Phes, M. and second victim It is train policy for all passengers to provide next of kin or emergency contact information before embarking. Your friend must have provided Mr. M's name. 4) i also want to look for clues in second victims' room and maid's room. You may ask the Security Officer if he'll permit you to look in either/both rooms. Only he may unlock them for you. 5) isn't it weird that Mr.M is just close by when Phes dies? why did jipay shake his hands? I wouldn't know that information. 6) who is that second victim, anyway? Brickster points out that in order of how you discovered the murders: it was Mr. Phes, Captain Blackbeard, then the Housekeeper.
  2. Very nice. A new train car is well over due. I was hoping for a Maersk cargo box but this will have to do. But at $39.99, Lego could have at least put some "window shutter" doors on the containers - another bad call. (this is what I was getting at when Lego asked the question, what can we do do get more money on our sets in that last survey). How about giving us some value for our money?
  3. I've never heard of Fireworks. Appears to be an awesome program though. Is it hard to learn? I have Paint Shop Pro 8 and a few others, and I find most of these programs pretty difficult to learn.
  4. disregard, didn't realize this was an old thread.
  5. BloodyJay attempts to use the various combinations but not one is the correct number. The waitor points out that if the security guard comes back, he could get in a lot of trouble; but if any of you think you know the right number, go ahead and try. Otherwise, he recommends you look for more clues.
  6. The lock has a three-digit combination: _ _ _ (each number 0-9). The waitor states, "if you 'all want to try to pick it, I know nothing", but those boxes are pretty secure without the right combination", as he looks at Snefroe1 rather distrusting. The security guard left the room.
  7. The train security guard enters the room and says that some of the evidence was stolen last night from the mail room, specifically the murder weapon and ammunition... (note: when the gun was found near Mr. Phes's body, it had four remaining bullets). (Also, there's a lot of train employees aboard the train (driver, engineer, bellmen, waitors, housekeepers, security, etc. These characters are not pivotal in the story but will make their appearances as needed to provide clues when the time arises. You may question, interrogate, and investigate anyone or any place on the train).
  8. In talking with the waitor, he recalls Rosa telling him that a passenger approached her yesterday evening rather insistent upon using a lockbox for his valuables. At the time, all the lockboxes were in use except one that the master key did not unlock. To accomodate the disgruntled passenger, he was allowed to use the lockbox understanding that after he set the lock, train staff could not unlock it for him if he forgot the combination. "Come, I'll take you to them", the waitor adds. You make your way to the train lockboxes ony to find a wall of over 100 metal boxes of three varying sizes. The waitor goes behind the counter to get the sign-out sheet. "Here", he points out, this must be the box marked with a line. Number E-44. The passenger in car H-70 checked it out". "That's my room number but I didn't use a lockbox", Snefroe1 states. Xwingyoda looks for box E-44. It's a medium box with a three digit lock: _ _ _ (numbers 0-9).
  9. As you convene in the dining hall for breakfast from a rough night of little sleep, one of the dining room waitors enters the car rather startled and tells you that there has been another murder :^^D Rosa the housekeeper was found in her room shot to death early this morning when she did not report for duty. The waitor knows no reason why anyone would hurt Rosa. "She was a quiet woman who pretty much kept to herself. Why would someone kill her"? he says bewildered.
  10. The cleaning woman finishes mopping the floor and proceeds to the dining hall to put the mop and bucket away. She takes off her cleaning jacket and hangs it in the closet with the other. She notices a few of you watching her, then knods cordially, and in very broken English, says goodnight. You're not quite sure what to think of the song but wonder how Bloody Jay knew the lyrics... A good night's rest will give you a chance to compile your thoughts. You tell one another "goodnight", and retire to your rooms. Hopefully no more murders tonight.
  11. Her English is broken, but she mutters the words, "It's our funeral too"...
  12. Bloody Jay quickly walks toward the observation room to listen to the cleaning woman's song. Although he knows the translation, what she sings appears to be shorter than the full hymn.
  13. Akkhraziel, as the newest member of the group, decides to follow the advise of XWingYoda and follow the cleaning woman with Athos She leads them to the observation train where she proceeds to mop the floor while singing a rather catchy tune, and although you don't know the words, she sings, "Vita dulcedo et spes nostra"... Bloody Jay and XwingYoda immediately go to the broom closet only to find a few mops, a bucket, some cleaning supplies, and a green and black housekeepers jacket similar to what the cleaning woman is wearing.
  14. Your group has decided that maybe retiring to your rooms may not be the best idea just yet. You make your way to the dining car to discuss some of the clues and as you enter, a short foreign woman passes you chanting, "Salve regina mater misericordiae". She appears to be a maid/cleaning woman. She grabs a mop from a small broom closet, then walks out of the dining car...
  15. Excellent poster Phes. What program do you use?
  16. Mr. M walks in to the room as some of you look over the body and he immediately recognizes the man as Captain Blackbeard, another old friend. "Who would do such a terrible thing", he says with dismay and looks at Sarg Kulo sharply. "You were labeled a pirate hunter, and if I found out you did this, I will have you keel-hulled a dozen times before I feed you to the sharks", he warns! Mr. M's monkey scratches around the bed and then picks something up from the floor. It appears to be a small piece of scratch paper with the following written on in: PO Box 70 93464 More clues possibly?
  17. I just stumbled upon this post. The images depicted are in very bad taste. I'm not sure why someone would waste their creativity toward this trash but I wouldn't even bother sharing over this board or other places for that matter. I'm surprised these weren't removed. Very distasteful and disrespectful.
  18. You've all decided that this has been a rather long day, and decide to retire for the evening in your rooms. A few of you make your way through one of the narrow halls only to notice that a passenger must have left their door open. Out of curiosity, Wolf peeks in the room to discover a man lying on his bed in a puddle of blood. You do not recognize this man, but he has a dark black beard and wears a puffy shirt similar to that worn by Mr. Phes. He has been shot in the chest and from the look of the blood stain, it may have occured some time ago... You have discovered another murder... :^^D
  19. This Train Murder Mystery continues at=> Chapter 2
  20. If your in the mood for a train mystery, check out the Trains & Town Forum.
  21. Welcome Captain Blackbeard. Are you any relation to Mr. Phes? This theme is right up his alley...
  22. The story continues: The enigmatic Mr. M. has boarded the train upon the request of a telegraph from the train conductor. Mr. M. enters the observation room with a pet monkey and introduces himself as a close friend of Mr. Phes who will be escorting the deceased to Prague. "What a sad loss of my old marauding sea partner Phes", he comments. "We shared many o'pirate tales and legends of the sea together, not to mention those most irritating pirate surveys", he adds. (Mr. Phes, you may assume the role of Mr. M.) Another Eurobricks member has boarded the train that you all know as Jipay. As he moves to shake hands with Mr. M, he notices a piece of crumpled paper on the floor. He quickly bends down to pick up this possible clue and opens it to discover that the paper is stained badly of coffee but appears that it may have been a list of names. Unfortunately, only a little of the writing is legible, the 2nd name on the list, Vlad... No more of the script is identifiable. Could this be a clue you wonder...
  23. As you watch the midget enter the room, he appears to be very nervous and twitchy. His eyes stare upon the empty scabbard of the murdered Mr. Phes. "Why is he acting so funny"? you wonder to yourself. He almost appears to be hiding something... But what and why?
  24. The Lego Express steams through a small German village on it's route to Prague. The clock strikes midnight when a few of the Eurobrick members identify the murdered passenger Mr. Phes :^^D . He has been shot in the chest with a single bullet. You have the murder weapon in your possession, a 6-shot revolver with two missing bullets. Upon further investigation of the crime scene, you have also discovered that missing from Mr. Phes's scabbard is a pirate cutlass which you believe has significant historical value. At your stop, ApovisV and Cardbox Hero Languages have decided to gett off the train in fear of another murder. A new member to your group, a short furry midget known as Darth Ewok, climbs aboard. You look at each other with great suspicion knowing that one of you is a murderer, but who??? (Chapter 2 requires that you do some creative investigation. The story has a set outcome but the way you reach your conclusions are open and may change). Can you solve the Murder on Lego Express? Join me in this spine-tingling train mystery.
