  1. Unfortunately, attempts to pick the lock to the bedroom do not work. Pete states, "the Latin phrase said something about a common word that Crowley could not say. Maybe this refers to the symbols. I don't think KALI is a common word. Also, I think we should look at some of these books a little closer. Does anyone have any thoughts"?
  2. I just hope the new train line isn't too <insert that tiresome argument> (picturing Thomas Railroad in my head), but IR stands for infared technology. A crossing, light, sound, or other automatic mechanism could pick up the IR signal when the train is in close proximity and would result in a desired action (crossing raise/lower, light turn on, etc.). This sounds really neat if Lego keeps it from getting too <insert that tiresome argument>. - or the IR could just be used to control the R/C engine.
  3. I just stumbled upon this on Lugnet, the latest announcement from Jake re. the new train line. Also, if you read the entire thread, sounds like Lego plans to produce a Bulk Train Box & Design Your Own Train as part of Lego Factory. This is exciting news! More later but Jake announced a new "play train" line. The locos are RC. A few new parts are all that is needed. There is IR sensor input built into the baseplates The system will have new track, compatible with the old track and gauge, but which is plastic railed. This reduces the production cost which means that more content (parts) can be added at the same set price point. Huw Millington, Holger Mathis, Mike Walsh and Steve Barile were under NDA and giving feedback during the design process. Link => Jake's Announcement re. Trains & Lego Factory
  4. OK LV. I voted for the Museum, esp if it's illustrated. Either way, this provides an opportunity for many different historic sets/displays (e.g. Egyptian, Medieval, Pirates, Movie Monsters, etc.). You can count me in.
  5. Stumped Pete responds, "I believe that single door to the bedroom was locked. We might want to try analyzing some of the clues that we've found, starting with the initials on the blackboard. What could R.C. stand for? And what was Crowley trying to tell us in Latin"? "And what did the Egyptian hieroglyphics etched under the chairs in the dining room mean". These may provide a clue. There may be other clues that we missed. I really think we need to analyze what we've found. Bloody Jay, did we interpret the Latin correctly"? Pete asks.
  6. Pete says with dismay, "I think we've been everywhere we can. Did anyone see another door"?
  7. You can't get the chalk board off the wall.
  8. All attempts to pull each book do not result in anything happening. The table and chair are both quite ordinary. No markings of any kind and nothing that stands out.
  9. Pete states, "Yes, the initials R.C. are rather interesting, esp. if written by the late Dorian Crowley. But RC Cola was one of my favorites. What was that old saying, 'Keep Looking'? I never found a dime under those old bottle caps". Athos attempts to pull, push, and slide the chalkboard. It does not move.
  10. The Chalkboard, Control Panel, and Book Collection Mister Brickster, I would like to see what is written on the chalkboard, and press all the switches on that small control panel to see if anything happens - Xwingyoda The chalkboard has the following written on it: they es secundum mihi si vos can lego is they es secundum mihi they es in meus domus audio lemma they volo territo mihi reperio typicus EGO have left lemma vobis si EGO intereo adaugeo tabellae vox est securus tamen ego can non alica is they mos teneo cautum malum est inter vos rumex meus latin est non bonus R.C. The control panel has four switches with four red and four green lights. They all appear to be in the down position and the lights are all red. When switching upward, the lights turn green. Nothing seems to happen when switching them on and off. You also examine the placement of the book marks. All the books have the book marks at the beginning of the book except for Selected Poems by Edward Arlington Robinson and The Picture of Dorian Gray. The book marks are at the end of these books. You also notice that the book of poetry looks rather worn.
  11. Without a doubt. I definately believe we will see more KK. The only question will be what?
  12. And you were given Pirates Four Plus! - what a let down...
  13. I see Forestmen as a great classic castle sub-theme and fits in nicely with the overall plot of KK.
  14. Maybe I've been writing mysteries too long, but as I was reading the history of Knights' Kingdom, I was speculating on what Lego might produce next - and have a hunch. First, Knights' Kingdom is somewhat like Orient Adventures in that it is a story theme and when first producing, a map of Morcia was provided. Lego SAH provided the story to the theme in the Book of Morcia. The Book of Morcia provides information re. the "Land of Morcia" that includes the Kingdom of Morcia, the Moorlands, the Citadel, the provinces of each of the four brightly-colored knights, and the Lost Kingdom of Ankoria. - The initial KK sets included 8777 - 8781 and focussed on the Kingdom of Morcia (displayed on the 1st map). - The 2nd group of sets included 8799 and 8800 (8799 being the Knights' Castle Wall - which is the castle Talonjay, the 1st province mentioned in the Book of Morcia). - The 3rd release of KK sest included sets 8873 - 8877 focussing on the Lost Kingdom of Ankoria and Vladek. - The 4th release - in Germany includes 8801 and 8802 (I call the sea sets - Attack Over the Sea & Sea Fortress). What's next and where am I going with this? Lego has three remaining provinces to explore: the next (as mentioned in the Book of Morcia) being the Province of Banteras located in the Great Forest. This is where ancient trees line the forest path and follow the rivers edge. This is the homeland of Rascus who is the green knight. I believe that we may once again see a Forestmen theme/sub-theme in line with the KK story. Lego could certainly pursue another province but of the four: Talonjay along the coast and Banteras in the forest offers more than the other two (Orkosan resides in farming flatlands and Alendan in peaceful hills). Where would you build if you were Lego? I definately think that Lego will build a few more KK sets as it is a popular theme and fits in nicely with KK in Legoland. I could be wrong in regard to my hunch but don't be surprised if we see some of these "province-sets". There is much more of the Land of Morcia to explore and the Book of Morcia may be the guide.
  15. The collection of books is quite extensive, but as you start pulling out each book, you realize that it's mostly a collection of classic English and American literature: Shakespeare, Homer, Dante, Chaucer, Steinbeck, Twain, Poe, and numerous others. There does appear to be a few books along the top right section of the North wall that have book marks, some at the end and some at the beginning of the books. The titles include: Great American Mystery Stories of the 20th Century Selected Poems of Edward Arlington Robinson The Picture of Dorian Gray Lighthouse Ghosts Lighthouse Horrors The Best of H.P. Lovecraft: Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre Tommyknockers by Stephen King
  16. But would the new system be DCC?
  17. Library The double doors creek open as you enter the library. Two ornate stain glass windows on the south wall illuminate the room. You realize that it is morning. The room contains four large bookshelves with numerous books along the north and west walls (two shelves on each wall). Between the shelves on the north wall is a chalkboard. A column stands between the shelves on the west wall with some switches. A low wooden table is located in the center of the room with a small wooden chair.
  18. I agree with you completely and consider this a "huge deal" if the new system is not compatible. With new track, I also wonder if existing wheel sets will be compatible with the new track. Train collectors, including myself, will be outraged if this is not the case. A single average train set is over $100. Most of us have numerous sets, engines, transformers, and track. I'd put that amount more in the area of $500-$1,000+ for the average train collector.
  19. I've been reading some discussion on one of the train sites and hearing rumors that the new R/C train system may replace 9V motors and track. I surely hope this is only speculation and rumor. Part of the concern was caused recently by Lego re-numbering the 9V train motor from 5300 to 10153 and offering 5300 at half price as a U.S. SAH phone special. This made some train enthusiasts believe that Lego is phasing-out 9V trains. Although it does appear that 10153 is available, a new R/C train line does invite some questions about the future of the 9V theme. Will a new R/C train utilize a battery powered motor similar to Playmobil's R/C train? If so, there will be no need for electric track which is far more expensive for both Lego to make and for train collectors to buy. This would render existing motors, transformers, and lights useless, in addition to miles of electric grey and bley train track. Also, with new track, Lego could change the scale as a completely new system. I would hate to see all my trains used merely for parts or resting along a dusty branch next to a new <insert that tiresome argument> high-speed bullet train. I surely hope that Lego will continue the 9V train theme if they truly plan to develop an R/C system. Compatibility will be the key, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to purchase some 9V track and a few extra motors before one has to buy it off EBay.
  20. Pete asks, "ok, what should we do next"?
  21. The Seal and the Coin Turn the fixture on the east wall : The fixture does not move. Push the mural of the Seal of the State of Oregon : The mural is very large from the top of the ceiling to the bottom (about 6 feet high and wide at least). See picture and further details. You push the middle and nothing happens. Inspect the lamp closer: The lamp appears to be an antique tiffany stained glass lamp Does the ring fit the statue's hand?: No, it appears to be too small. Does the scaraab of the ring fit the pharao's "hat"?: No. Can we move the sofa to inspect the chandelier?: Yes, you do so. The chandelier appears to be quite normal. Many large crystals around a golden metal frame, about eight candle-shaped light bulbs. Even though the single door appears to be locked, can we peek inside?: Looks like it may be a bedroom through the open wrought iron pattern in the door. When you say "the seal of the state of Oregon" what do you mean exactly? They image on the state flag? If so, which side? (The Oregon state flag has two different sides.): In the United States, each of the 50 states has a state seal representing its unique history. The seal is also pictured on one side of the Oregon State Flag (pictured). Details include pictures of the following: A large shield, 32 stars, a ribon that says "The Union", mountains and a forest, an elk with branching antlers, a covered wagon pulled by two oxen, an ocean with setting sun, a departing British ship, an American merchant ship, a shear of wheat, plow and pickax, an American eagle, and the year 1859. Does the sofa have cushions? If so, can we lift them up to investigate? : Yes, rather dusty, but feeling in the cracks under the cushions, you find a small gold coin. The front has a worn image of a man facing left that says, "GEORGIUS II DEI GRATIA", and on the backside is a crowned ornate shield with the year above, 1759. The letters are rather worn, but appear to read, " M B F ET H REX F D B ET L D S R I A T ET E". (pictured)
  22. Why is pharoah standing in a bucket? A platform with small border but I don't see a bucket? >:( Lets pull on that light fixture: It does not move. Shake pharoah's hand: The Pharaoh is glad to meet you but nothing happens. Open those double doors: they lead to a library And swing from the chandalier: you can not reach the chandalier X:D
  23. Upstairs Hall You have decided to venture to the second floor of the mansion by climbing a tall set of stairs from the main hall. The steps are covered with a dark red carpet fastened to each step. The steps turn about half way up before reaching the Upstairs Hall. The room is large and contains the following: - One single door on the east wall (pictured) - Silver light fixture on the east wall (pictured) - Set of double doors on the west wall - Large mural of the Seal of the State of Oregon on the west wall - Statue of a pharaoh on the north wall (pictured) - Large, over-stuffed sofa along the north wall - Large arched window overlooking the ocean on the north wall - Small antique table with tiffany lamp next to the sofa - Large chandelier hanging from the ceiling
  24. Galidor and Jack Stone. I actually liked Antarctic. Never bought a Rock Raiders or Time Cruiser set but at least these had regular figs. Baketball and Soccer sets didn't do too much for me either.
  25. No luck tracking footprints. The dirt floor is rather hard and compacted.
