That is one big ship! Very nice display. I like these port/harbor scenes. Imagine dropping a MOC this size. X-O It would be interesting to see the stats on a ship like this (piece count, hours to build, etc.).

4888 Ocean Odyssey: Adventurer Fit

We don't have a Lego outlet/retail store, just TRU, Target, Walmart, etc. Most stores no longer have it. -
Hovercraft Hideout is really a better set.

4888 Ocean Odyssey: Adventurer Fit

I think it was the lack of figs. Totally destroys playability. Thanks for the info though. My local stores no longer carry the set. Amazon/Toys R Us has it for order though. -

Norro: do you have any pictures of your MOC? Sounds like a nice creation. -
Airline promo biplane
WesternOutlaw replied to optimus-convoy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I think it fits in nice with both the Egyptian Desert and Orient Expedition themes. The use of yellow, however, is a bit different than tan found in the adventurer sets. But I do think it would compliment the adventurers theme nicely The problem with all these small planes and adventure sets though, is that they never provide enough pieces to build a larger plane. I've always wanted to make a larger biplane about the size of the Island Hopper or large enough to fit 2-3 figs and adventure cargo. What good are these single seated biplanes for a team of adventurers? I suppose one needs to buy 3-6 of each of these sets to make a larger plane. I have not tried this, but it would be interesting if you could do so with a few of these sets. -

I think that was some good marketing by Lego -releasing the Egyptian Desert sets around the same time as the Mummy, and never having to purchase a license. -

I liked the island hopper because of it's size. Most of the planes during it's release were much smaller. I always thought Lego should have made it a two-seater though. -
I like the use of the Star Wars tie windows.

I like the colors -very different. The use of brown and yellow is pretty rare, although tan would look good as well. It has the large wheels to, unlike the Orient Adventure planes. -

We were discussing an Atlantis Adventurer theme (Adventure Sub) and talking about submarines, and it got me looking at 4888 Ocean Odyssey. This submarine would make a neat adventure sub. Have any of you purchased this set and tried converting the sub to mini-fig scale?
-
It's too bad that 4888 Ocean Odyssey was not mini-fig scale. I didn't buy this sub but it could have been easily modified as a real adventure sub.

Sting: I agree with you about having the small sets mingled within the larger sets, although I did the same thing with the adventure boats; and I think Jungle River 7410 got a vote or two (but it is a little larger than the small promotional sets). I combined them because they're all part of the adventurer line. Also, when I make the images bigger, the single picture comes out much larger and takes longer to load (so I try to keep the individual images small). Maybe for my next poll, I'll show more comparative sets with larger images. It's funny. The island hopper is a nice plane, but I found it in many stores deep discounted. Maybe it was the female mini-fig or just the fact it was a sea plane? I don't think it was a good seller though. -

I wrote LSAH last year when I first saw this plane to see if Lego would be releasing it as a regular set. As always, they did not answer my question with a yes/no. I like it and it's very rare in the US. Bricklink lists the set at $29 or $30 (USD). It's probably a $7-$8 set since it's similar to 7420 Thunder Blazer. I'd love to get one of these. -
WILD WEST sets wanted, high prices paid !!!
WesternOutlaw replied to Brick Miner's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
While I only buy MISB sets over EBay, because I don't want open/loose pieces that have been "played with", I am willing to accept sets with boxes that are not perfect. You have to ask yourself if you're buying Lego or the box? So basically, you already have a new unopened set (or a few), but want a box that looks like Lego SAH just shipped it (free of stickers or marks). Good luck. -
WILD WEST sets wanted, high prices paid !!!
WesternOutlaw replied to Brick Miner's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Wow! And I thought what I paid was pricey. They were MISB. Only a little shelf wear, but boxes were good. One label was either cut/loose, and you could open the box, but all items were sealed in bags. Both were very good. I'd still keep looking and I think over $100 for either set is too much. -

Athos: 16 out of 20 isn't bad though. So far, you've got the highest score which makes you an Indiana Jones. -

Favorite Adventure Plane
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
My favorite is the plane in 7417, Temple of Mt. Everest. I love the grey, black, and yellow color scheme. The plane is also very sturdy. It is much like/almost the same as 7420 Thunder Blazer. I agree with Yoda on this one. It's my favorite too.
