  1. I would not necessarily say that Playmobil rules Lego out, but Playmobil is a great toy company. The two are very much different in the obvious fact that Playmobil is not a construction toy (although System X and other Playmobil sets require some construction (castle, buildings, etc.)) I have always loved Playmobil as I do Lego but for differnt reasons. Playmobil has some great themes and I've always loved their buildings. They remind me so much of memories in expensive "European-style" toystores in which the toy store window was decorated in Playmobil castle and pirates. I collected a number of Playmobil themes including pirates, castle, jungle, and my favorite: Wild West. Here's a few shots of my WW Playmobil diarama from a few years ago. Look at the detail and the quality is outstanding! Collecting these old sets also cost quite a bit on EBay, but the pieces are exceptional (esp. for the older themes that have been retired >10 years).
  2. There's tracks. On the "front page", the "headline", where it says "Topic Title", "Replies", "Topic Starter" etc. I know, I still think the top banner needs a train though- like the front part of the Super Chief.
  3. When I see MOCs like this, it makes me want to break out all my tan basepaltes, and make some sort of desert scene.
  4. But I would never guess that blue is a popular color for an antenna piece. I would think black, grey, or other more common color that the piece is offered in.
  5. I have to say that I like the choice in colors. It really adds to the Asian look of the dragon.
  6. I like all the red, which I selected by choice. I think it looks good with the black; not to be mistaken for a Lego Fire Station :-)
  7. I've got the Emperor's Stronghold. I like the blue and tan colors. The fortress looks good with the blue samurai. What I like about this theme is that you've really got two main opposing armies; the blues and the reds. The greys, greens, whites, and blacks can be added to either main army. I actually own the Ninja's Fire Fortress and the Emperor's Stronghold. I use to have battles between these and Robber's Retreat and Samurai Stronghold. The two sets I'm missing are the Flying Ninja Fortress (that I was never too impressed with) and the Stone Tower Bridge that I do like and never bought. Athos is a Ninja! Steve: on a side note, what's your all time favorite theme. I know you also like adventurers.
  8. Looks good but it needs a train.
  9. West World and sequel (Future World) were great movies, but I don't think that these MOCs depict Yul Brynner's role as the gunslinger very well. You might check out Oblivion/Backlash for another western/sci-fi film(s). The mocs are very creative, however. I like the tall black gunslinger on the right. The "spider-droid" looking fig to the left reminds me of Dr. Arliss Loveless in the 1999 Wild Wild West movie.
  10. Thanks for the positive feedback. Here's a few shots with the Japanese art work: I don't plan on doing anything more with this MOC.
  11. I wanted to try building a detailed interior of a Japanese palace, so here's my attempt. I've been having trouble with my printer, so what's missing, is the Japanese murals/art work for the red wall areas. At an angle: Emperor near his treasure: Upstairs: Different view: Middle roof section: Larger view: And at a slight angle: OK, now it's time for someone else to share some Ninja Adventure MOCs. I know there's some of you out there who like Ninja.
  12. I came across an "Enter the Land of the Tragon" Brickshelf Gallery today. A rather neat MOC depicting an Asian Dragon Train (the best that I've seen), and the surrounding area. Very interesting MOC that fits in very nicely with the Ninja Theme: The whole gallery: Land of the Tragon - by Megan Rothrock
  13. Very impressive MOC. I love the grand scale and lining up all the figs. Awesome! And the probe droid is outstanding.
  14. I voted for 6088 Robber's Retreat. I consider this set like the Forestmen of the Ninja Theme. I like the green elements in this set and it's much different than the look of the other sets (sort of unique). The Black/Red/Green fig is very nice too. Inside this set is a swinging trap with four katanas. It swings down and strikes those entering the door, with a pull of the pin. Maybe I'll do a photo review at a later time.
  15. At least is sort of makes sense.
  16. Share your thoughts on your favorite Ninja Fortress:
  17. Build a little faster!
  18. Pretty nice BM. I like your graphic work most. When will we actually see some of the buildings? (what are you planning to build?) And does the miner have a name? I'd also like to share a post from a number of months ago, my Ghost Town concept from last year: Brickster's Ghost Town
  19. Now here's the kicker: I've been using a 56K dial up connection and due to a lot of line static on local phone service, I get numerous disconnects >:-( . I finally went to a high speed cable modem (4MB/sec.), but just hooked it up last night. I've been loading all these images over a 56K modem. I will upload a picture, then build a little, upload another picture, etc... *wacko* I have to say that high speed is great! OK Brickminer, it's your turn to share some WW MOCs. :-P
  20. I don't think the "action pose theory" is correct in this case. The picture does not have the ninja in an action pose but rather just grabbing the piece, as if to use it as a weapon. Oh, I take that back. His legs are off the ground. Action pose all the way! Maybe it is just something to hold him up.
  21. That is so awesome! I really wish I had purchased more of the Egyptian desert sets. I used to limit myself to one set each, and that never gives you much building opportunity.
  22. Good idea. I'm tired of the fortresses now.
  23. To be honest with you, I never liked any of the flying Ninjas. I've got two of them from larger sets and don't even bother building them.
  24. ya, I guess he is a little big.
  25. Flying? He's grounded. That's a path he just came up from.
