Jungle Adventure WIP
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It is a cute little plane. *wub* I was worried that the white would stand out and look too modern, but with the Sea Plane in the Temple Escape, I think it works well. I just added Scorpion Tracker as the latest addition: Also, a list of the official sets at the beginning of the thread. I think it makes a good Jungle Set Reference. -
Nice job Majek *y* . I really like the custom shield designs. I'd like to see a shot of the troops together. And welcome to EB.

That's called the "Eat'em Like Popcorn Trick". I do that with chocolates. :-D

Oh, definately. You should build a King Kong scene. That would be awesome!

Jungle Jewel Thief - Ninja Vignette

Excellent vignette LegoLyons! I love all the foliage. I like how you added the red bricks for a splash of color. We definately seem to be in jungle mode right now. As others would say, Jungle On! - oh, and welcome to EB! *y* -
Excellent! I can't wait. *sweet* I'm going to leave my jungle display up until then. I may in fact cover it with a sheet to keep off the dust. I've pretty much ran out of green, but I don't want to start pulling all of the smaller foliage pieces from every set that I have. It would make trying to return all of them to the right box very difficult.

I'm going back to the 80s, but Nena (German) and Falco (Austrian) were very good music groups/performers. Songs by them are available on YouTube (both in German and English). Gabrielle Kerner (from Nena) is still doing music. In fact, she did a remake of one of my favorites, Leuchtturm, a few years ago. Falco, (Johann H

Com'n right up Tex. Who do you reck'n is an outlaw? If you have even a hunch, I say let's take him out to the street and lynch 'em up. We don't have time to be dilly dallying with any of this small talk. We've wasted enough time talk'n. It's time to be play'n some Hang 'Em High!

Did you snap any pictures? I'd love to see it if so.

Everything except for getting rid of the spruce and cypress trees. I think they do work to add many different types of trees to the jungle (as someone else mentioned). Have you tried building a jungle Piranha?

Jungle Adventure WIP
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks Phes. It's a plastic mat that I purchased as part of a Christmas Village scene. You've seen it as part of Port Adventure: Port Legend: And Mystery Ship: It's been a great item for setting up bodies of water for Lego dioramas. I've actually been looking for some sort of poster or backdrop to add to the diorama. I'm not sure what to use. I've thought about the backdrops for fish tanks that come off a roll. You can cut them to any length. I may check out my local fish tank/pet store to see what they have. Good question. I chose to go with the new Indiana fleshies and leave out Johny Thunder and his crew. I thought it would be a bit much to have both competing adventure teams searching through the jungle. It's Indy figs, but more Adventurer sets - at least until the 2nd wave of Indy sets come out. Your question reminds me that I'm going to add a set list to this that shows all the sets that are included. Thanks for your feedback. Reminds me of the old days. *y* Thanks, but I can't take much credit as this is an official set (1371). I did not think of using it until Batbrick's recommendation (thanks again BB!). But I do have a few more small sets that I may add. I'll keep posting images as I add to it. EDIT: I should also point out that the plastic water mat is a bit transluscent. By placing different color sheets under it, the water chages color. Now I just need to get some green paper. -
Thanks 007. I'm going to try the snake idea. I had not thought of that one. I've got some stems and other foliage pieces on order, eagerly awaiting their arrival. Thanks for the tips. *y*

What brings you here Username_Taken? Thinking: I swear I've seen this stranger before???

Excellent! Easy design too. Thanks.

I always enjoyed the old dinosaur and monster movies, esp. those with special effects by Ray Harryhausen. He was known for his stop motion model animation and did movies like Clash of the Titans, Valley of the Gwangi, Sinbad, and many others. He was a pioneer in special effects. I also enjoyed movies from stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Jules Verne and HG Wells. All of whom were great authors of adventure movies. I recall building a few adventure planes when I was a kid, after watching some of these classic movies. How fun! I've added a number of movies to the list.

Thanks Wulf. And a special thanks to Batbrick for his idea to add a plane crash. Today's addition, the tree and airplane from Spinosaurus Attack (1371). What a great little airplane and tree to add to the jungle scene! I'm waiting on more green pieces from LSAH's PickABrick to add more trees and foliage. PS. This almost reminds me of Stone Soup. I had no idea I had all these jungle-related sets. -

Thanks. The Jungle Building Tips that everyone offered helped a lot. I never picked up the Adventure Blimp. Would you believe that I actually had it in my hand at a Toy Store and looked down upon the little grin thinking, I don't think I like this blimp. -
I'm not familiar with Dharma brand beer either? Edit: I think it has something to do with Lost, although I'm not familiar with the story.

Thanks for sharing - another good adventure movie discussion.

Excellent ideas. I really like the plane wreck idea. Reminds me of the game Pitfall. I might also try the waterfall. Someone else had mentioned that one (and Steve's jungle scene had one to). The use of brown around the edges might add an element of interest. Thanks. These are all great ideas. *y*

You know, I never got into the Indiana Jones movies when they came out. In fact, I don't think I saw all three movies (at least the whole thing). Now I love the new Lego theme and am really enjoying my recent Jungle Diorama. I may just buy the three pack of movies and watch them all again. My Indy knowledge is pretty bad as well. You guys gave me an idea to start a list of these great adventure movies. I'll add to the 1st message. I should also mention Casablanca and African Queen, two outstanding classics. Oh, and one other, the Last Dinosaur, a 1977 B-dinosaur flick starring Richard Boone.

That's too bad. I would have liked to seen it. On a side note, I take pictures of all my MOCs now, even the ones I don't post to EB or MOC Pages. I didn't always do this, but just in case I want to refer to them in the future, I like to have the pictures.

I esp. did this more when I was younger. As an example, I remember buying the Scorpion Tracker after seeing the movie, Mummy for the 1st time. After buying the one little set, I had to expand the collection. In any case, what movies have inspired you to build ADVENTURE Mocs? A few that I really enjoyed (from different decades) include: The Mummy (mentioned above) The Land the Time Forgot and sequel, The People that Time Forgot 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea King Kong (new version) Anaconda (not a really good movie, but it made me want to build River Expedition). What were some adventure movies that inspired you to build or buy?

An excellent idea. I had thought of this a while back. I actually got the idea from reading something that Playmobil was going to produce many years ago and never did (to be politically correct). Here's a quote from Wikepedia: Over the years, some proposed sets have included Chinese Railroad Workers and a Grave Digger for the Western theme, as well as a Medieval Torture Room. Prototypes were made. However, these sets were considered insensitive and inappropriate for young children, and were never released. There are however sets including ghosts and a mummy containing a skeleton. A Grave Digger would also make a nice addition.
