Witch's Shanty Some say that the Phantom Rider was awaken by an anciant Indian curse, while others believe him to be the evil spirit of a long lost miner. The truth regarding the Phantom Rider's true identity may be found within the desert near a horrible old shack... Along the desolate tracks leading out of Grave Stone, within the Valley of the Dead, a quiet little shanty stands alone in the desert. Within its rotten wood, lives an old witch, known to few by the name of Millicent Clemens. What spells does she conjure with her book of black magic, and what evil does she call upon to do her bidding? The mysteries of her magic rest within the caldron outside the Witch's Shanty, waiting to be summoned.

As Jesse and Mary run away from the Frightening Freight Wagon, they recall their horrifying encounter with the horribe creature within the wagon crate:

Thanks Metalandi. That's a really nice compliment - I appreciate that, although my building style is pretty simple. I think I could have made this one a little more scary, but thanks still the same. Inspired from the MOT Open Freight Wagon - with a little more detail. I had considered a closed boxcar, classic in western trains, but tried to be a bit different with this. I also got the idea from a picture of one of the Lego Factory Trains. You should have seen me typing Freight and Frightful, definately hard to keep straight - kinda like Imperial Scouts and Imperial Shadows (at least for me). Perhaps there is some hope with a new Lego Factory Wild West collection. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aside from Batbrick, I'm getting a sneaky suspicion that you all want to know what's inside the box. This reminds me of Mystery Ship (for those of you who remember). Perhaps the mystery will be revealed in a later MOC.

Adventurer Monsters
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It's great to see some of these old threads revisited after a few years. I voted Yeti because I always enjoyed the legend and stories about the Yeti. Then there's the Yeti inside Disney's Matterhorn, the Wampa from Star Wars, the Yeti from the old G.I. Joe Adventures, and other sightings in movies and cartoons. Definately the Yeti! -
Thanks Basiliscus. I've got some more creations up my sleave. No offense taken Cardinal. I appreciate your honesty. I rebuilt this little box car a number of times trying to capture an otherwise plain wagon. I think the final result came out much better than the other builds. Building it in just black (which I had originally done), was just too plain - although somewhat more mysterious. I had to add the brown log pieces and the grey roof just to add some color and detail. I had seen a clever idea that I might incorporate in a future MOC. I like the final picture too much to rework this one. Your welcome WF. If I did see this set in stores (in the US), I don't remember, or I passed it up during my dark-age era. I picked this up a number of years later on E-Bay, and I'm glad I did. It did not include track, which makes the set incomplete from a stand-alone set perspective. Now with the issue of different track colors, I would have loved a set like the Classic Train. Thanks. The Euro-Freight #4563 Train provided some inspiration as well. Brickset is down at the moment, otherwise I'd post a picture. definately more to come. Thanks. I could still use a lesson from some of the post-apoc creators though, to create a more beat-down look. I never really build a creation as old - this is definately something I need to keep in mind when I'm building these. Thanks BB. Yes, they do. I'm starting to run out of space on the old bookshelf though. Here's a pic of the train (without the recent addition though (the Freight Wagon)): What I'm enjoying most about this is that each train car is completely different, and building them reminds me of buying the My Own Train collection and building each car as an addition to my first WW town. It's been fun, but the photo-editing tedious. I'm learning new tricks every day though, and how to make the images look better. Thanks for all the great feedback!

I look forward to seeing your fig, but I'm having trouble finding it on your "My Space Page". You might want to consider uploading to Brickshelf or Maj.com for a quick link.

Amazon Ancient Ruins 5986 Review
WesternOutlaw replied to voltio's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I've always wanted to see this set close-up Voltio. Thanks for sharing the image review. This is the only Jungle Adventurers set I don't have and it's got some great unique pieces (esp. those leaf brick pieces). What's great is they're not stickers. This is a really a nice review of a neat set; with the extra little humor you shared. Thanks again for taking the time to photograph and share over EB. -
Frightening Freight Wagon Jesse and Mary were able to jump off of the Haunted Train Coach just before it passed through the Tunnel of Horrors! Unfortunately, they found themselves alone on the spooky tracks trying to make their way back the way they came. Along the desolate tracks, they discovered another line that had almost been covered in the sand. "Let's go this way", Mary suggested. Jesse agreed. Along the tracks, they stumbled upon a frightening freight wagon standing by itself. A large container box rested on the wagon with iron chains holding it to the car. "I wonder what's in the box"? Mary asked inquisitively. Jesse responded, "I don't know, but it gives me the heebie-jeebies, let's get out of here". Mary then noticed how cold the box was as she placed her hands on the door. Suddenly, they heard a THUMP! Then the box began knocking. Jesse and Mary ran away in fear...

That would be interesting. Please share if you do AR. Thanks Norro. That means a lot coming from you. I'm almost done with the train part of Grave Stone. I think that Wild West still has a lot of possibilities.

Ghost Train Haunted Train Coach
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I redid the image of the Passenger Coach. Here's the new picture, which I think looks a little better: -
Thanks for the comments FT and WF. Good question. Classic Train (#3225) had some great accessories including the mail cart and mail crate. I've always liked these additions to the train theme and wanted to include these parts for their rarity. As far as the color, I'm OK with the yellow and don't mind a little exra color in the otherwise black & grey Grave Stone imagery. In addition, as you mentioned, Lego uses yellow for mail and I like to keep an element of Lego tradition in all my MOCs. EDIT: Thanks. I'm glad you pointed out the brown log pieces. I built this MOC a few days ago and had used light green to match the passenger train (also a black roof). I did not like the result at all so rebuilt it this morning using the brown logs, as well as the dark grey roof. I like it much better.

Yes, exactly, well said. I loved the simplicity, yet the amount of detail captured in such a small number of pieces. This is what Classic Lego did so well, not just with city, but Castle, Wild West, Trains, and other themes. I really like this building style.

The latest addition: Mutt Williams and Irina Spalko Indiana Jones and Col. Dovchenko I like Irina. Her hands can be moved as well as Mutt's to create some sword battles. There are three left in the collection of nine.

Mysterious Mail Car If you follow the dusty train tracks past Crawford's Junction, you'll discover a section of track that leads to nowhere. On this desolate rusting track, you may find a Mysterious Mail Car resting quietly in the dark of night. Something is creepy about the wagon, something frightful. The door to the wagon is not locked, but rather open just slightly. A crate of mail rests outside the car with an unopened letter. What mystery about Grave Stone might the letter reveal? but worse, what evil lurks within the Mysterious Mail Car? :skull: The third addition to Ghost Train, the Mysterious Mail Car:

This is really an impressive steamer StA. The color looks fantastic. I love the blue and white which just goes together so well. The wheel-system is very nicely done. Where do those blue wheels come from? I don't remember ever seeing blue wheels. Overall, this is a magnificant engine. Do you plan to add some rolling stock? In any case, terrific job on this blue beauty!

Nice job BH. I really like the Himalayan Indy. Nice use of that torso. The sleeveless Indy reminds me of Croc Dundee.

I think we've done this before, but since you asked. This was my modest collection before buying a few of the newer sets: There's something about the Crownies that make them really fun to set up/display in formation.

I was looking at some classic city sets today and stumbled upon this old set, 1620 Chocolate Factory. I remember many "old-timers", but I don't recall the set at all. It appears to have been a promotional set from Holland. Do any of you remember this great classic? The roof design is featured in the Legoland (#6000) Idea Book. I remember copying the design and modyfing the building a number of times years ago.

Very nice H&C. This is a really slick engine. I esp. like how you designed the boiler. Are those round pieces? I also like the design of the cabin. The use of the upside down arch is very clever. Overall, a nice train indeed. Great job! But the link to your clip doesn't seem to work for me.
-
Yes, you can find the complete train (so far), here: Grave Stone Ghost Train. If you want to check out the engine by itself, click the image below (in my signature). Thanks for the nice comments.

No! I can't believe it. Wild West!!! - I'm speechless. Could it be? Return to Legoredo? Remember Ambassador BigDaddy's question a while back, Ninja vs. WW? Could we see the return? Yes!!! I want to be a consultant. I want input. Ghost Town perhaps? Either way, Wild West - I can't believe it!

Definately a must for Wild West. I had listed "Expanded Mine" meaning a mine scene much more developed than the official Lego Mine. Something along the line of a Dwarf Mine, with mining carts, a few tunnels, traps, etc. I went ahead and listed your suggestion - definately a good one.
