No thank you, but you must try the pâté. It's to die for. -
Mystery Castle - Day 3

Words of the DEVIL! (immediately pulls out Ex-communication For Dummies Handbook). I have STRONG reason to believe that one of the Lords is in fact a traitor, and perhaps one of the Generals. (looks at Lord Savril... Lord Ash... Lord Gary... General Marcus... and General Spencer very suspiciously before pulling out a large magnifying glass from under his robe). I would suggest that you men stay visible, and don't turn around! (begins having a and speaking in "Tongues", "Der Kommissar's in Town"!) -

Yes, an excellent series of books indeed! (pulls out a few with various titles from under his robe). My favorite is "How to be Witty When Playing Murder Mysteries, for Dummies That Is". -
Mystery Castle - Day 3

What a tangled web of devilish dismay - Could such an individual be so keen and cunning? - I think not, My Son; but it is good that you mentioned it to show the foolishness of the thought. Now, I must retrace my steps to figure out what evil can do such a thing and why (which is the real question)??? -
Mystery Castle - Day 3
WesternOutlaw replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thank you all for your concern. It was just a flesh wound (Has a quick vision of a future Monty Python film). Yes, I was wearing my Holy "polka dot" undergarments under my robe (makes the sign of the cross). Yes, someone wanted me dead; and once again, I draw your attention to the foul smelling Calvin the Fishy. I assure you that I was not "black mailing" anyone, nor was I doing anything other than praying to Him to grant us insight as to who has killed our beloved King. Let he who walk without sin cast the first stone! As I've said before, those who hide their treachery shall be revealed through their actions. Also let the failed attempt on my life show that I am but a pious servant to the Church. I shall be watching you closely KurttKruegmeyer, for you are quick to openly suspect a man who just survived the treachery of the evil that dwells among us. -
Great review Sinner. I own the later version, 709 released in 1977. Mine no longer has decals though. The variations were minimal. It looks like your boat is in really good shape considering it's >30 years old. Excellent review!

Mystery Castle - Day 2
WesternOutlaw replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Although I am not pleased with your lack of faith in my loyalty to the Church and our Kingdom, I will gladly turn over anything that may show you that I am a man of the cloth. (begins pulling out random objects from his robe - a frying pan, some rear-view mirror dice, a garden hose, two bowling pins, and a picture of Hinckley). Oops, how did that one get there??? Seems that we have some Doubting Thomas', my Son. Thank you for your support, however. That may be the case, but life and death are balanced in the end by he who reigns in Heaven. No man can truly judge another, esp. a servant of the Church. I stand resolved, but as I have said before, with the Devil hiding among us, these are difficult decisions that we must live with. I bless you Calvin the Fishy, and if your life is spared by the group, then so be it. If you die at the end of the day, then feel blessed that you had a chance to live among our good kingdom, and I will be willing to accept your confession at any time. (pulls out a small lie detector machine from his robe) -

Not exactly. Kill them but make it so that we know their story and who they were. I'm sure Dragonator is a talented enough narrator to do this without sacrificing the story or mystery. But I also like the idea of replacing them, esp. if someone else wants to play. I really like to keep things moving, otherwise these mysteries get boring and I begin loosing interest. That's why I'm not up for the constant debate and questioning. (pulls a microphone from his robe and begins singing "You say potato, I say patoto") -
Adventure Tree Outpost
WesternOutlaw replied to Batbrick's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I can see the forest through the tree! Nice job Batbrick, and a nice addition to your superb temple. I only have one suggestion, and that is, the tree seems a bit tall and lacking green. I would add some more leaves to this, esp around the middle where the guard tower rests (sort of like some camouflage). It's still a nice creation and I like how you designed the base with a few roots around the rock. I also like the use of the monkey. -
Mystery Castle - Game and Index

Sorry 'bout that Pencoin. I like to keep the game moving and thought you were another "Bad Fish". Speaking of which, the game seems a bit slow. There's a number of people who are not participating. I have no idea who they are, but I just assume see them hung to keep the game moving. I recall reading something from Dragonator that you have something special planned for those that don't post for some time. I think they should be taken out after a few days. That way, we can get this mystery solved. - my thoughts. -
Mystery Castle - Day 2
WesternOutlaw replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Alas! Someone has seen the light! Good for you my son, you shall be rewarded for your galant display of courage against he who cloaks himself in foul-smelling deceipt. I've always been fond of the Forestmen. Now, I have some reading to do before Day 3 (pulls out a large magnifying glass from robe and begins thumbing through Excommunication for Dummies). -
Mystery Castle - Day 2
WesternOutlaw replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
You dare question the teachings of the Church! Your words are blasphemy! Another word of this sacrilege, and I shall be forced to excommunicate you from the Church and the Kingdom! - You will be cast out among the place of demons and devils, where you shall languish in misery and torment for a lifetime. (Proceeds to pull out an "EXCOMMUNICATION FOR DUMMIES" handbook from robe, and a plastic chicken). -
Mystery Castle - Day 2
WesternOutlaw replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
You must have faith to do the work of the Church. No one can blame the work of men if it is for a good and noble cause; and in these troubling times, where the Devil dwells among us, it takes a hardened soul to battle the forces of evil. I shall walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I shall fear no evil. List if you will, but my vision has spoken to me. I am confident that something smells fishy here. My decision is firm. I would also recommend that we begin finding those that hide among us and do not speak, for they should be cast out. Lady Suzanne is among them. -
Mystery Castle - Day 2
WesternOutlaw replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
There is no dealing with the DEVIL! If he is telling the truth, we will know as his spirit raises into the sky and his soul shall be saved. If he is lying, his soul will be sent to the fiery plane of Hell for everlasting torment. Let he who seeketh the truth cast his vote now! -
Mystery Castle - Day 2
WesternOutlaw replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I remember a gospel regarding the subject at hand. I think it goes something like this, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Allow a fisherman to smell up the castle, and you invite the Devil into your home". I vote to see our good Calvin the Fisherman find his place next to The Devil! (Begins having another vision) Stinky Stillman the Fisherman was the first to be killed in Mystery Ship. His brother, Diver Dan was a traitor secretly trying to overthrow the ship for its mysterious cargo. (Begins to awaken from the spiritual trance) Never trust a Fisherman for his mark shall be that of the beast. <- Notice the Mark of the Beast! -
Absolutely spectacular! I had always thought that Lego could build a Death Star playset similar to the old Hasbro one which I actually still own. Here's a picture: I had even thought about building one over the years, but never thought I had enough pieces to do it justice. This is even better in the shape of the Death Star. I'm not a big fan of the high-ticket sets, but this one is a must buy for any Lego SW fan (even for any SW fan). Can't wait to see the real thing. Any idea of a release date? (unless I missed it in a previous thread). Thank you so much for sharing on EB Svelte Corps. I really look forward to this set! EDIT: Interesting that the box does not have a piece count.

Interesting interview WhiteFang. It's always great to learn more about "good message posters" like yourself. I had aslways thought your name might have come from a wolf/dog reference of some kind, so it's was neat to learn how you actually picked it. Maneuvers in India. Sounds like you've done some traveling. That's awesome! Thank you for mentioning Grave Stone. Although Wild West is one of my favorite themes, I'm a big Classic Castle fan at heart. In fact, I own all the new Castle sets. My only regret is that during a very long Dark Age period, I missed out on ALL the classic castle sets (esp. Forestmen). It's also neat to hear your story about you and your girlfriend building three copies of the same set together. It's great that you and her shared your Lego interest together. Many years ago, a young lady had bought me the Caribbean Clipper. I'll never forget that someone had bought me that great set. These are the sets that one values the most (rather than the ones you pick up yourself at the local toy store). Great interview. You're definately a valued member of EB and bring a lot to the Lego community. I'm glad to know you better and I hope you keep up the great posts.

Neat thread. I must have missed this one. My first castle (and one of my all-time favorite sets), is none other than the Yellow Castle. I've kept it in an old shoe box all these years, although the stickers and pieces still got pretty worn. I restored it (washing each piece) a few years ago for this picture review: Yellow Castle #375 A few of the knights with fresh new stickers (thanks to Classic Castle.com): It's great to see all the excellent First Castle Sets. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: I recall sharing a personal account of the yellow castle a few years ago, that I just had to dig it out after remembering this great set: The year is 1980. During a summer vacation in Germany, a happy Lego city collecting child receives his first Lego Castle, the Legendary Yellow Castle! Later, from another continent and vast sea away, he takes the following photograph of his collection with his favorite set being the highlight of the city: 1980 The Dark Ages of Lego has lasted 21 years. Out of a dusty "Fragile" box, the aging yellow pieces are constructed once again as a tribute to the Days of Yore. The Legendary Yellow Castle once again stands proud in the center of a booming Lego metropolis. Pirates and Adventurers have come to see the mightly yellow fortress! 2001 During the last holiday season before leaving a long-lived-in home, the pieces to the Yellow Castle are once again constructed, this time cleaned for an image review for other Classic Castle fans to appreciate. Its aging yellow bricks are carefully disassembled for a move that will last several months. 2005 And now, resting quietly in a dark but safe place with yellowed instructions and five green baseplates, a pile of yellow bricks awaits reconstruction, perhaps one day to be shared among a Lego community, its well-loved memory not forgotten. A personal story of a favorite Lego set, The Legendary Classic Yellow Castle

Mystery Castle - Day 2
WesternOutlaw replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
The spirit of the One Above is always with us, my son. (pulls out his flask of spirits and takes a drink). Would you like some to? It is very unfortunate that we have unfairly convicted and sent Lord Martin to his resting place in the sky. May the Church and the Saints grant his salvation, and forgive us for this terrible sin. We are admist troubling times in which those that do the Devil's work mask their true identitities. I may be but a simple servant of the Church, but I have my suspicions of one in our congregation that bears gold coins for tiding. I dare not speak his name at this time, but you will know him by his actions. Let him know that somebody is watching (has the following Nostradamus-like vision). And where hath the Lady Suzanne hidith? -
7411 Tygurah's Roar Review
WesternOutlaw replied to Batbrick's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nice review Batbrick. I picked up the "monster adventurer sets" for around $5.00 at a Kay Bee discount store a year or two after they were retired. I like Tygurah's Roar, esp. the sliding plate trap. While many don't like the monsters, I think for a smaller audience, they're great! (not to make a Tony the Tiger joke/pun). I also like how you included pictures of the comic. This was a neat little set with some good pieces, esp. for building Casablanca-style or Indian MOCs. Great review. Tygurah says, "Rrrrrrrrrrrrooooooaaaaarrrrrrr!" -
A man's got to have some fun... Thanks. I must say that I love the jug piece. I opened up one of the pirate 4+ sets just to use it. After several attempts to place it in different spots, the upside down "dripping jug" seemed to work the best. Thanks WF. I'm not sure why some of you are saying "Unexpected" though. I've been building the Ghost Train collection for some time now and have had the images as part of my signature for a while. Do you mean the style, the use of the werewolf, or just the MOC of a still? I always like to add a little color. Yes, a red jug contained in set 7080. A fool moon always helps. As Batbrick mentioned KD, stills were quite common in some parts of the country, during the late 1800s. Don't ask me what made me think of building one, but it just sort of pieced together. I doubt Lego would ever make a still though - for the youngens and all. Thanks BB for your comments. I always value your reviews (as well as others above). As I mentioned above, I love the jug piece. This MOC uses all old brown. In fact, most of my brown is old brown, but I do have some of the red-brown from all the new sets. This particular MOC was intended to be a little humorous. I've been wanting to add a werewold to Grave Stone for some time, and just could never think of the right MOC to include him. After building theis still, I thought to myself, "now how could I tie in a werewold to the story"? MOON-Shine. Lupine. It worked out perfectly. I was hoping someone would pick up on the story. I have to uphold my reputation some how. - I'd hate to be type-casted as a holy man. All the bad guy parts were taken. Thanks for your comments Lt. Col. It's good to see you reviewing some of my Ghost Town collection.

Moonshine Still Under the light of a full moon, good Ol' Hank's been experimenting with a rusty still, somewhere outside Grave Stone. The last brew was some really good stuff, but after drinking a cup or two with its eerie green glow, Hank didn't feel quite right. There's a howling in the air and it's not from the coyotes that seem to be drawn to the still. This is certainly a special batch, sure to set your soul on fire!
