Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
BacktoBricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Unless you have any solid evidence otherwise, I wouldn't use the words 'almost guaranteed' because as much as I would like there to be FB figs as well if the series has been pushed back we just don't know. So as of yet, nothing about the CMF is guaranteed. And @Legoman123 asked what we are actually getting because there has been so much speculation about different things that unless you are on here all the time it can be hard to quickly separate fact from fiction/speculation. That was what I tried to do in my post - separate confirmed products from speculation. -

As far as I know, the only confirmed sets are the five in June (75969 Astronomy Tower, 75979 Buildable Hedwig, 75968 Privet Drive, 75966 Room of Requirement and 75967 Forbidden Forest) and the September 75981 Advent Calendar. There are two more sets rumoured for August (and last year's pattern would suggest this is true), but I don't see any solid information that these are confirmed. I have searched back through this thread and found nothing, but if anyone can point me to a post or Insta leak from a 'reputable' leaker then please do. EDIT: As @Guyon2002 says, @Falconfan1414 confirmed two sets for August over on Instagram - sets 75978 and 75980. A D2C has also been rumoured, but again there is no solid evidence. jedijacpenguin's 2020 set list does have it on, but they have the set number (75978) as being the same one as one of the rumoured August sets so again there is a discrepancy. A HP CMF series was also expected to be released later this year, but there is a rumour that it has been pushed back until next year, potentially due to the release of the new FB movie being pushed back. This series was meant to have 16 figures in suggesting it was just going to have 16 HP characters and leave out the 6 FB figures if it followed the same pattern as last time, but the potential push back could mean that Lego may now be incorporating FB character into the mix. This is 100% guesswork though and the news of the potential delay in the CMF series surprisingly does not seem to have got any further than this forum. So either it is not true or it is our best kept secret yet. Only time will tell. There is also a new book Lego Harry Potter Magical Treasury: A Visual Guide to the Wizarding World releasing in September (UK) which will include an 'exclusive' Tom Riddle (COS version) minifigure. I hope this helps. -

So apart from them being on jedijacpenguin's list (which is now saying that both the smaller rumoured August set and the D2C have the number 75978), is there any other evidence to support the existence of two more August sets? I've had a look back on this thread and I don't see anyone really confirm them before speculation begins as to what they may be. Can anyone remember if last years August sets were in the retailer catalogues? -

I really hope so. Like you it would have to be a Day 1 purchase for me, as much as I would want to wait for a price drop. What this DA discussion really reminds of though is how fortunate we are to even be thinking that a new big DA set is a possibility. To think that two years ago we hadn't yet had the first new sets and now we are speculating as to a D2C DA ... Good times. -

I meant a $300 microscale Diagon Alley. The small promo shows how much DA can be covered in microscale so it would be a big jump from that to $300. And like @Guyon2002 said I don't think a $300 microscale DA would hold as much appeal as the Hogwarts Castle. Hogwarts is iconic and makes a great display piece, but DA, whilst still a big location, is not quite so iconic. Plus the castle is already in minifigure scale, albeit in section, so we have both minifigure and microscale, but no DA currently exists in the new wave. I think (and hope) that Lego would release a playable DA before they do a microscale one. But only time will tell. -

I still can't see any 'evidence' on the back of that book. What am I potentially missing? -

1) As much as I want DA, I too am not believing anything as yet, but ... 2) I can't see a $300+ set being microscale either. 3) If it's minifigure scale I'm in no question, but if it's microscale I would have to see pictures; it certainly does not sound appealing on paper. -

I've noticed that too. It's quite strange actually, but then the message never seemed to get out on the main #legoleaks Instagram which I think is how news normally explodes. I was listening to Bricks & Bits #81 the other day and the next CMF series after Series 20 was mentioned and neither Ryan or Just2Good seemed to have any knowledge of this either. Of course, we don't yet have a definitive answer as to whether it has been delayed so we could be wrong. What I don't get is why a new CMF has to equal a D2C anyway. I know that's how it usually works, but with the Disney, Simpsons D2Cs for example, the figures in the CMFs complimented those sets and could be used to add extra playable or displayable characters. The last HP D2C did come with the founded minifigures, but it was essentially a microscale set, so none of the CMFs could be 'used' with it. Is there are specific reason why a CMF should = a D2C? -

Do you mean on the back of the Magical Treasury book we've been discussing? I don't think there is a Diagon Alley symbol. There is the Wizarding World symbol with the wands, but that's just a brand symbol used these days on HP merchandise because it now covers Fantastic Beasts etc and not just HP. I don't think there is any hint as to a Diagon Alley D2C. -

Also just keep in mind that Ryan has been using this forum as a means of information; so he often has little more idea than we all do. But I can understand his scepticism even if he does have a more trusted source; he's been wanting that 501st battlepack for so long. And I can see his point for coming down either positively or negatively if the rumour is true. As for the A-Wing rumour, someone reliable on here suggested this was the case quite a while ago now (sorry I can't remember the name). So I'm inclined to believe that one. -

Surely a COS set just wouldn't make sense without Tom Riddle in it though? It would have to be really poor planning not to be able to fit him in; as much as I know most of us really want a new Lockhart minifigure, even he would be less vital to a Chamber of Secrets set than Riddle. To recreate the actual chamber scene only Tom, Harry and Ginny are really needed. As for the crest, they've printed the robes in a manner that the crest would be hidden underneath the front crease. Best case scenario: A COS set is coming in a future wave, probably next year, and will feature a version of this minifigure (e.g. one with another expression, or a dual moulded head) just something slightly different so that this minifigure remains technically 'exclusive'. This way Lego has used the book's budget to create that figure and included a figure with the book that will entice adults and collectors who wouldn't otherwise to buy the book because they can't know for sure a Tom Riddle will be coming with a future set. Worse Case Scenario: A Chamber Of Secrets set is not planned and Lego is including Tom Riddle to yes get collectors to buy the book, but also as fan service; because whilst we appreciate Tom Riddle, I think there are other figures that Lego could have included in the book that would be more appealing to children or recognisable to parents/grandparents who may be buying the book on a whim etc. As much as it might mean me buying a book I don't really want and doubling up on a similar figure, I'm personally hoping for Option 1. -

Thank you @UKFan922 It definitely looks like COS Tom to me. You can see a clear image of the character here in the extra images: https://www.amazon.co.uk/PotterTM-Magical-Treasury-exclusive-minifigure/dp/0241409454/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Lego+magical+treasury&qid=1582975756&sr=8-1 So I think this rules out a Chamber set anytime soon, but definitely as one of the unknown August wave; this book is released in September so I would say has the new sets in. I do hope they go back around to it. But a good figure to get, so long as it doesn't mean Lego has no intention of going back. -

No I'm of the same opinion. I have no interest in these minibuilds, but at the same time, I don't want to have to chase exclusive figures. There is nothing I want from Lego so I would either have to buy something for no reason or spend a rather high amount to get that figure off eBay or Bricklink. And I would really rather do neither. -

Well that would suggest the HP theme is carrying on next year (I think we all know that is probably the case, but still...). However, that is a long push back. Still hoping it's not true tbh. -

Thank you. Well if that means we get the HP figures that we are meant to be getting plus more FB characters I suppose it's not a bad thing. But in another way, I'm sure the characters will compliment the new sets so we may have to wait longer for characters we are expecting to see. -

There was, but then the person who mentioned it (sorry I can't remember who) said that the 'owl with spread wings' could well be the brick built owl and they had just thought the person speaking about the new HP Lego meant a new small owl mould. So there is a bit of confusion, but I'd bet the owl was probably the brick built one and there is not a new owl mould coming. -

'Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one remembers to turn on the light' ... Now where's the light switch for that top secret back room with all the HP Lego. ? -
Just seen a picture of a new Spider Man set which has a 'spider pig' minifigure and to me it looks like a new head mould that may be what they use for Piglet. That way it wouldn't be a 'new' mould for Ideas. It's large and maybe a bit oversized, but it feels like a bit of a coincidence to me.
