  1. I've started doing a few Roman MOCs, and here's my first one. This one is a vig of a gladiator showdown in an amphitheatre. Here it is: A gladiator awaits his next foe: Another gladiator enters the arena, 'escorted' by a Roman soldier: The emperor stands safely above the gladiators: Prepare to fight!: The crowd cheers as the two fighters engage in combat: The next foe awaits behind the cage, watching the battle: Alternatively, the amphitheatre can be used for EB sigfig fights X-D (There can be only one pie :-P): Enjoy! X-D
  2. Thanks again whung :-D *wub* This set is a must buy for me too, the wheel is just brilliant. Also, the box art is great, I love how th scared soldier has been posed X-D About the armour, I'm sure it'll be changed into the new armour when it comes out, why wouldn't they use their new armour piece? One more thing, Is it just me, or is that chain in the first pic longer than the normal ones?
  3. When we have enough players. By the looks of it though, it doesn't look like that will ever happen :'-(

    Caravan

This is great *wub* It looks so realistic, especially the part that would attach to a car (name escapes me). The shape is very well done. The interior is wonderful too, and the use of blue capes for curtains is a pretty good idea. Nice find *y*
  5. That's the second time someone's called me Lord of Pies.. :'-( :-P I was originally going to make an MOC of a painting of French cannons, but I thought it was a little boring. I converted the cannons I made for that into ones for the Russians. The rest is just how I imagined the Charge of the Light Brigade :-)
  6. Great job! *wub* The Doc Ock arms and Indy pieces are put to very good use, especially those whips *wub* The flutes and binoculars work very well as exhaust pipe type parts too. The minfigures are also great, but I'm not so sure about using those blue goggles :-/ Overall, another great one of your MOCs, and a brilliant first try *y* *y*
  7. Ooops, you're right. Next time I should probably do some research instead of recalling from memory :-$ Thanks everyone *sweet*
  8. Nice work, escpecially since you didn't have a minifig to compare your pics to at the time. That said, some of the proportions look strange in some of your pics. Still, great job, I especially like your Ventriloquest, Two Face and Lucius Fox *sweet*
  9. Nice review *y* Though I have a question to anyone who has this - do you think it's worth trying to buy it if you've already got the Pharoah's Ruins set? Thanks :-)
  10. Here's my MOC on the Charge of the Light Brigade. I'm not sure if it should go here or in the history forum, but since it's using imperial pieces, I put it here. Moving on: During the battle of Balaclava against the Russians, Lord Raglan, the British general during the Crimean War, noticed that the Russians had captured the British and Ottoman cannons in the north of Balaclava. He ordered a messenger to tell Lord Cardigan, commander of the British Light Brigade to attack them. The message got jumbled on the way there, and the Light Brigade ended up charging into the wrong cannons, which were well fortified. The Light Brigade were destroyed. Here's my MOC: The British charge: But the Russians are ready: The Russian guns fire: The Light Brigade continue to charge, but are beaten back by cannon fire: Poor Sir Nadroj, killed by his own bush technique :'-( :-D : A pic without the smoke: One of each minifigure (I used Mosana's Austrian artilleryman and infantry officer torsos for the Russians, but changed the colours to grey): My custom cannon: Feedback appreciated *sweet*
  11. Sorry, I can't do it for about 4 days. My brother has gone away and took the camera with him |-/ Yeah, I got pretty good bargains for the two I bought though. I got my first one for about $100US, which included the Emperor's Ship, and the second one I managed to get for $45US *sweet* Yeah, the other two big sets come with a chrome armour piece. The Scorpion Palace came with a chrome gold shield and the Temple of Mount Everest came with a chrome gold sword. I believe they were supposed to get all 3 items and put them on the Guardian to get the Golden Dragon. That's what happens in the comics at least :-$
  12. Well this is the first time I've done a review, so bare with me. :-$ 7419- Dragon Fortress There are no problems with the instructions in this set, so I didn't take any pics. There are also no stickers *sweet* The Minifigures There is a good amount of minifigs in this set, 9 in total, with 3 minifigs exclusive to this set. First the good guys. Pippin Reed (with two hats), Johnny Thunder, Jing Lee, Dr Kilroy: Now the bad guys. A Chinese guard (I love these guys), Chang Wu, Lord Sinister, another guard: Here's Jing Lee. The torso looks great *wub* : Here's Chang Wu, an amazing figure. The detail is great on the face and torso (looks like all of my photos missed out that his staff has a dragon plume at the top): The back of his head has printing of some hair: The Guardian. Nothing much to say here, but I think the scimitar, samurai armour and bat helmet look quite good together): Without his helmet: The Truck The truck isn't all that special, but I'd say it's one of the better Orient Expedition vehicles. Although it's mostly <insert that tiresome argument>, it still looks pretty good, and it comes with quite a few useful parts, such as the black chain and the treads (?) It has two crates on the back allowing it to carry the many accesories that come with this set (pith helmet, pick axe, spade, rifle, pistol, binoculars, map of Dragon Fortress (unfortunately, I can't find that at the moment :-( ), magnifying glass and camera): The Fortress Clearly the best part of the set. The Dragon Fortress is a beautiful building, with many details and playability. On the left side is a small fortification with a barrel of fireworks. The fireworks are simple yet effective, and I am pleased TLC would make such a nice detail. On the right side is identical to the left side, except instead of a fireworks barrel, a catapult is placed. Obviously not as good as the other side, but TLC has to put a catapult somewhere, don't they? :-| :-P The stairs leading up to the main building. I am very surprised with how effectively the baseplate has been used in this set, especially here. The stairs are nicely done, the colours work very well together. The two torches on the sides are very well built, and look great. The entrance to the palace. The doors have been done simply but effectively, and the two dragon heads are well-placed. The walls are done very nicely as well, and once again the colours look great together. The top of the building. The general shape of the building is very good. two flags poke out of either side, and shows a dragon with a nice oriental border (I forgot to take a picture of this, but if anyone really wants a pic I'll show take one). The roof is absolutely beautiful, and is definately one of the highlights of the set. A detail worth mentioning are the Chinese lanterns that hang under the rooves. They are very nice and decorate the building well. Like the fireworks, I'm surprised TLC would make something like this. Here's the inside of the building. The bottom floor is a throne room for Chang Wu. The room is pretty empty, and could've done with some more details, but it's alright. Here's the throne: ..Which can lift up to reveal a stash of diamonds: Here's the top floor. Contrary to the bottom floor, this room is a little cramped, but it is pretty well made with plenty of details. There are two contraptions that you put some 1x1x1 bricks into.. ..And then tip up.. ..Dropping rocks down on those that try to enter the palace: In the middle is the golden helmet, the last piece of armour the adventurers need: Pretty simple to take, right? Wrong! :-P Pull a technic piece out from under it, and one of those pesky trapdoors send you flying down to the bottom floor again: Once all that is over with, you go to the very back. The building is quite a nice little thing, nothing much more to say about that. You open the doors, revealing the Guardian statue: Then put the golden helmet on him.. ..Allowing you to take the two golden keys! You then go up to two more small structures (sorry, didn't take any proper pics of them) with doors that you can unlock with your keys: Inside each is a wheel.. ..Which you turn (Aaahh! What is that?!), which causes two technic-type pieces to be slid away.. ..Which allows the structure with the Guardian in it to be pulled out.. ..Which reveals the Golden Dragon! Phew! :-$ And there's the Golden Dragon, in all it's glory *wub* I love the tail and chrome head, as well as the great printing on it: Now all the adventurers have to do is escape :-| :-D Oh yeah, it also comes with a board game and cards. While pretty cheesy, I'm sure it would be good for children. I've played it a couple of times, and it's pretty easy to beat the "baddies". Here are the cards: And here's the game itself: Round-up Playability: 9 Detail: 9 Swooshability: 4 Price: 8 Overall: 9.5 I strongly recommend this set to all lovers of the Adeventurers theme and even those who aren't. It comes with some great parts, great minifigures, and a great build. This set is without a doubt the best set of the Orient Expedition theme, and in my opinion, one of the best sets that have come out this decade.
  13. Madness? This.. Is.. LEGO!!! :-P (That's right, Ol' Leonidas is kicking your heads off >:-( :-D ) Good job, by the way, very "abstract" 8-| :-P
  14. Don't worry, you are only not allowed to edit once the actual game starts. Even then I'll give you a warning. Thanks for the ideas for a pirate mafia game, I might make another game after this one is finished :-)
  15. Very nice indeed *wub* The interior is done especially well. From what I can remember, this tank looks very similar to the one from The Last Crusade *sweet* Nice find *y*
  16. Yes, except they'll be replaced with something Western, eg. sherriff, bandit, deputy, cavalry officer. I've got all of the roles ready, now we just have to wait for about 7 more people to join :-| :-P EDIT: I'll be away for the next 3 days.
  17. Magnificent! *wub* *wub* *wub* 12 days after Christmas and we've already seen the next advent calendar? :-D Could this be the special surprise at the end of the year TLC was talking about? Great find, Hinckley *wub*
  18. Here's a link for those of you who don't know how to play :-)
  19. Nice review *sweet* I love that Harry Cane minifig, especially the face *wub* This looks like a great set for that little money :-) I just did a review of the Dragon Fortress and the Temple of Mount Everest, but our computer got a virus of some sort and it takes about 20 minutes to upload one photo |-/

  21. Yes, but I think it's only the battles. In the last Total War game you could play a multiplayer campaign as long as you used the same computer though.
  22. The unvote option is to unvote the person you voted for if you don't think they are guilty or you want to change votes. Feel free to ask anymore questions (I'm sure i missed something out :-$ )
  23. No, you mostly do fighting on land. I think they've only got pics of naval battles is because it's the first game in the Total War series that will have proper naval battles. The land battles sound very good. You can form many formations, choose to bayonet charge, fire your cannons (which send soldiers flying into the air with ragdoll physics), there are drummers, flutists (sp?), bagpipers (sp?) who make music for your marching troops etc. Also, in case I didn't make it clear in the first post, it's a turn based campaign game, where you build up your cities, train your armies, train agents (such as spies, assassins, diplomats, merchants, priests), conquer enemy settlements, much like Risk or the Civilisation games, really. It comes out around October 2008, but if you can't wait that long, you can get Medieval 2: Total War. One of the campaigns you can choose is about the Spanish arrival in the Americas, so I suppose that fits into the Pirate Lego theme :-) Well, that's enough rambling for me :-D
  24. Ah, thanks, Colonel :-$ These should come in handy *y*
