REVIEW: 71018 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17
JakeChambers replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
First, thanks for yet another excellent review, @WhiteFang. Me and my girlfriend have been looking forward to your reviews since I came out of my dark age and started collecting these a few years ago. Personally, I find them pretty interesting and complete. Some might complain and say they could do without the little scenes or the many pics you include. Sometimes they can give me ideas and give me some insight on how a certain minifig from the new series looks next to a similar one from another series. But honestly these scenes are the reason I look forward to your reviews. They are different. If I wanted a more neutral or standard review I could go elsewhere. They're not hard to find. But I find your reviews unique. It's your style and me, same as many others, check this forum eager to find your review whenever a new minifig series release is on sight. Can I please get an answer to the following questions regarding the mystery minifig?1. Does it look anywhere near as this hunter from the videogame Bloodborne?https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/shacknews/assets/topic/6423/Hunter_Art_1427135263.jpg2. Is his tricorn hat a new piece or is it the same one we've seen in pirate themes? Thanks in advance!! -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion

TLBM 2? Is that confirmed? -
I was torn between the classic king and the fencer. The classic king has some impressive and colorful pieces...and the fencer was so original and cool, but more simple. Voted the king. All hail the King!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
JakeChambers replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am hoping for an intrincate printing on the torso piece of the highwayman. Mainly because my expectations are high and everytime I think of it I think of the hunters from Bloodborne...- 1,421 replies

I've started reading the "Cat-Eyed Boy", a manga by Kazuo Umezu. Such a good horror comic! I'm also re-reading every GeGeGe no Kitaro manga I own. Before I start reading any new stuff I want to catch up with some of the classics! Thinking of getting Astroboy, too.

Nexo Knights wishlists
JakeChambers replied to JurrasicPiggy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'd love to see these girls! http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/nexo-knights/images/e/e4/Harpies.png/revision/latest?cb=20170113031152 Monster Fighters is the theme that took me out of my dark ages and as a monster lover I always appreciate a little bit of variety. While I don't collect ALL the set in this theme, I usually end up buying quite a few of them... -
First post, first question (painting LEGO)

If the piece seems greasy, wiping it with cleaning alcohol should help. This. Knock-offs are cheaper and if you're just using a few fake bricks they won't ruin your build. -
What Video Game(s) are you playing?
JakeChambers replied to Lego Spy's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Currently playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Such a great game! And waiting for Persona 5 to drop in a couple of weeks. -
Replacement pieces... how many is too many?
JakeChambers replied to froggy95's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've been having some issues with prints being blurry lately but only asked for replacements twice (when the minifigs were too important to me). I'm also afraid of them thinking I'm just trying to get doubles! -

Though I have never tried painting any LEGO, I think you might want to try using an airbrush. Using a regular brush will leave marks and texture on the pieces, giving them a look that I personally hate to see on bricks and minifigures. For a more smooth finish you should always use an airbrush. If you don't have one, you can just buy a 20 bucks airbrush from Ebay. I use them regularly on other models I paint and they're pretty neat. Then you'll need an air compressor, preferably with air tank attached to keep the air flow constant. -
I was thinking of starting my own thread, since I will share more of my creations soon, but then I thought they might fit here. If I was wrong, I don't mind taking em down! By the way, Roland had both hands, he's only Idris Elba - yes, I know! I need to do that one, too.

Gotta love those Scooby Dooh custom monsters, @comix ! For the first knight you shared, I agree with your choice for the helmet, as the metallics stand out too much, being the chest armor non-metallic. I need to check this thread thoroughly! there are so many great minifigures. Let me show you a couple of my creations. I've used official Lego parts, but also some BrickWarriors accesories and custom capes. This is my minifig take on Roland Deschain, the main character from Stephen King's saga "The Dark Tower". And this is a hunter from the PS4 videogame Bloodborne:

Hi guys! I've been following Eurobricks and other Lego fan sites for a while, but recently I decided to join a couple of forums and try to post regularly. I'm an AFOL from Spain and I mainly collect sets based, as most, on the minifigs. I like most themes, but I'm always a sucker for the monster-related one. Actually, it was Monster Fighter's fault that I started collecting again as an adult. I really enjoy customizing my minifigs, so I'm always looking for hair pieces and other parts. I also love seeing custom figures from other fellas, though I don't really like sculpt and paint on minifigs, as they totally lose their minifig appeal, at least in my opinion...but of course I see the hard work and love behind some of these customs. I look forward to seeing your MOCs and sharing my own minifigures with y'all!
