[TC19] Exocet
Rudivdk replied to 1980SomethingSpaceGuy's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This color scheme indeed suits it better. It makes it look even bigger and, like you said, more mature. It also takes away some of the nostalgic feelings the original design gave me, but I totally understand your decision and I think this is the better option. Your welcome 🙏 -
[TC19] Katana supersport
Rudivdk replied to steph77's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This turned out great (as could almost be expected from someone with your experience). That drive train is so intricate yet elegant, and very compact. It really shows the thought and dedication that went into this design. And the brake function is a nice add-on too. I think you've almost reached the summit of Technic bike building, at least with the currents parts assortment. As for the looks: I'm personally not entirely convinced by the bodywork, but that is just a matter of personal taste. Maybe a different color would do the tricky for me. But the bike looks realistic enough to be a scale model of a real-life model, and again, the amount of thought that went into the design shows off. A podium candidate I think! Good luck in contest! -
This is a nifty little build! The front fork with suspension is a great solution, those rubber parts are really versatile! And the looks (although maybe not exactly spot-on) give the proper vibe of the model it represents. A great achievement at this tiny scale! Good luck in contest!

Another beautiful bike... The concept with the two different drive units is great and really convincing too. That trellis frame is insane, just gorgeous. And the stance of the bike oozes power and adrenaline, it looks so realistic! A top notch creation! Good luck in contest!

[TC19] Nurses speed
Rudivdk replied to MangaNOID's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The level of detail is fantastic, and the first aid theme brings it to the next level. There might be more technical builds in the contest, but this is one of the best looking and best thought-out visual concepts I've seen. And all standard bike functions are there and nicely done. Great build Also quite interesting to follow your journey in this build, you took some big turns along the way But it paid off! Good luck in contest! -
[TC19] - Hybrid (2WD)

This also stands out for me, even more so than the front drive which is also very well executed. All in all a great and unique concept. There are too many unique and beautiful bikes in this contest, voting will be very hard (once again)... -

Nice looking bike! It instantly gives me classic Technic feelings too, has the same vibe as the 90's trike (with the 8880 wheels)! It looks bigger than it probably is, you managed to make it look very 'complete' despite the scale and lack of panels thereof. The shape of the frame with the stacked 5x9 double bent liftarms wrapped around the engine is beautiful! And the drive transfer is a smart and simple solution, it helps the minimalist looks of the rear suspension. And by the way, good to see you active again, it's been a while... Good luck in the contest! -
[TC19] Electric scooter
Rudivdk replied to johncarpenter's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is a lovely build, very elegant and clean. I really like the front steering and suspension setup, quite unique, works well and looks great too! It's a little sober functionwise when it comes to the drive train, but the little details like the electric motor and battery pack make up for it. Well done, good luck! -
SNAKE custom chopper Inspired by Ninjago's numerous snake designs and wacky vehicles. Features: steering front fork full suspension (front and rear) chain driven rear wheel 4-speed gearbox with 4<->1 block sequential stepper shift pedal fake V6 engine retractable stand 'snake mode': rear adjustable ride height, linked to adjustable tail foldable 'neck flaps' (cobra 'hood') Video: More pictures: Discussion and build progress topic: Once again this was a fun contest, good luck to all!

[TC19] 'Snake' custom chopper

Thanx! The Sian arches (which I really REALLY wanted to use) sort of defined the theme and overall shape for me, I just filled in the rest so to say... The concept for the side view was created in my mind in just a few minutes after defining the snake-theme. But I am also quite pleased with the mechanical part, I ticked all the boxes I set for myself and then some, so all in all I am very happy with this build. -
I'm not sold yet on the fairing... I liked the naked look with the wide, bulky gas tank A LOT, although (as mentioned by others) it is a bit heavy in the belly like that. Maybe keep the fairing in the bottom, but lighten up with the fairing on the sides. Right now they mess up the clean declining line of the LBG beams, I think that should be a primary characteristic to show of instead of hide...

Tbh, I liked the first version with that short front fork way better, unrealistic or not. Your reworked version takes a lot of character out of the appearance for me... Still good, but not popping anymore. Just my opinion, no offence... -

[WIP] High performance car
Rudivdk replied to Rudivdk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I will at some point, but I do not know when they will be finished. The digital models are nearly done, but instructions take a lot of time, which I don't have at the moment... -

[TC19] 'Snake' custom chopper
Rudivdk replied to Rudivdk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Eureka! I got it all working during the afternoon, now it's just some polishing and finishing touches and it's done! -
I love this design! Overall it looks like some hunting robotic predator, very sleek and aggressive. There is almost a humanoid feel to it (crouching on hands and knees). The subtle red stripe is a nice touch, together with the red shocks it makes a nice contrast. And the wheels look fantastic, way better than the first ones.

[TC19] The Red Blaze
Rudivdk replied to MajklSpajkl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This turned out fantastic! Great shapes and all the functions are nicely embedded. But for me the best detail is that licence plate in the back: 'GO-TC-19', that is just brilliant. -
[TC19] 'Snake' custom chopper
Rudivdk replied to Rudivdk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanx! I actually have quite a lot of those transclear engine blocks from a number of different sets. They are my first pick nowadays, without even really thinking about it... What I like most about them is that you can see the crankshaft turning and cylinders moving inside from all sides. With these parts it doesn't really matter how you build your engine or chassis, the 'technic' part of it always stays visible. -
[TC19] 'Snake' custom chopper
Rudivdk replied to Rudivdk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, a month has already past since my last post... Well, there is little time left in the contest so I did a long building session tonight. Got most things done, at least the important parts are finished. Functions sofar: Front and rear suspension Chain drive on rear wheel 4-speed gearbox sequential stepper pedal V6 longitudinal engine Kick stand I've also added some extra functionality beyond the standard stuff: Rear adjustable ride height Adjustable 'tail' linked to ride height adjustment What I still want to do is make some flaps on the 'neck' section of the snake and link them to the ride height adjustment control, so they will expand when the hide is adjusted (like a cobra in 'attack mode'). A WIP flap is in the above picture, and some control links are added but not connected yet. -
It seems that the hood has been made 1 stud longer in the Lego version, or at least on the sides there are 6 studs of those rounded bricks from headlight to side mirror, compared to 5 on the original ideas version. Could also be that the side mirrors are placed 1 stud backwards though. But it messes with the proportions, throws it out of balance a bit, at least for me. The original looked much smoother and better balanced. I think the Lego model is just 'good', but nothing more than that... @Ecclesiastes the review is great by the way!
