  1. For my wife, just the small fishing boat from the harbour theme. We do have a Yellow Cargo train to build though that is sort of a joint present for both of us. I think my cat has got me some holiday baubles but I am not sure which colour?
  2. I have to say that although some of the licensed sets do seem to do well, I much prefer LEGOs own sets. I do think they have much more scope for builds simply because they are not tied into a movie or whatever and therefore people can feel free to make whatever they like or can imagine. Sometimes with themed sets you feel constrained by what is in the world of the theme. For example in Star Wars you can only build things that have been in the films or one of the spin offs. Now i know that actually you could build whatever you liked, but I get the impresion most people do not think that way.
  3. Really nice details, I liked the little waterfall in the garden. You should keep it, it would make a good edition to the town next to the railway station, especially if they are tyo be similar colours.
  4. Looks interesting but I think that you are right in wanting to put a few trees and so on the break up the white. Have you got any pictures of the tunnel entrances as these are hard to see clear in the photograph?
  5. I have had a fiddle with my Maersk and have come up with a way to have lights from PF and keep the sloping cheese bricks. No drilling, but I have had to make it 4 studs wide and put the lights side by side rather than top to bottom. This is not a brilliant photo, but when I get time to set up some track to run it on over the holidays I'll try and take some better ones. Still you can get the idea of what I have done. Before anyone complains, yes I have tiled the whole train as I did not like the look of all those studs sticking up in odd places. I know not everyone will agree, but that is what I prefer.
  6. Really nice train, I always like to see models based on real engines.
  7. I think he is saying that he is building what is probably a hill,(But maybe part of a larger mountain?)that will have a tunnel/cutting going through it for a train to go under/through. I am assuming from the comments that at the moment all those multi-coloured bricks are just filling and that it will be covered in more natural greens, browns and greys and so on once those bricks have arrived or been purchased. I guess as we have had a tunnel thread recently it does tie in with a train theme from that persepective. It will be good to see how it progresses though once the proper colours have been applied to the outside and the tunnel/cutting entrances have been constructed. I hope you mmanage too get your hands on those bricks you need soon and can post some updates so we can all see how it is progressing. It may help to get a better idea if you lay some train track across it where it will eventually run, even if it is only to show us the effect you are hoping to get? This should be interesting with lots of little details added to it!
  8. Yes, i thought of that but wanted to keep the cheese bricks. I was thinking though of widdening the front plate to four as discussed. Maybe I'll have a play about with it a bit. But if there are photos of the front plate and how that has been done as a four wide section it may save me some time. But I'll probably still fiddle with it anyway.
  9. I had a look at the book my local toy store gets with all the LEGO products in it the other day for the start of 2012. The Yellow Cargo train was still in it, although the red one still was not? Which surprised me as I wanted to order one. (They do a thing where you can put one aside and pay a bit each week/month until you have enough as opposed to the website which does not.)
  10. Sorry, but I cannot find any reference to this in the search. I was wondering if anyone has managed to find a way to add power function lights to the Maersk train, at least in the correct place where they are on the model in the first place. It does not seem to cover this in the instructions on how to power it? Any links would be useful. Thanks.
  11. Very good, I did wonder what you were talking about first of all, then I scrolled down and saw the pictures! It is lots of little things like this that add character to layouts and make them fun to play with.
  12. Unfortunately I my wife and I don't have any children of our own. But I do like to play with my LEGO. If I had children though I think I would be OK with them playing with the bricks and parts that are not made up into stuff. I do have some MOCs and otheer models that I want to keep intact and as they are, so would not be so keen to let them play with them as I want them in good condition. But, I would buy them there own stuff, (And have just been doing so for my niece and nephew.) and it is fun to join in with them and watch/teach them to build. I always enjoyed playing with LEGO myself with my father as a child, it is a really good learning tool for counting and basic engineering.
  13. Well I have had a look at the site and I actually found it quite hard to navigate and find anything, at least without quite some time which I assume a lot of people will just not bother to give it. Then after giving it some time there are some things that appear to have duplicate entries or at least themes that are very similar to each other and as such have spread what could be combined interest rather thin. I think it would possibly be better if they had a general 'I would be interested in this type of thing' option rather than a specific model. Not sure how it would work though? If it had an option for something along the lines of:- Would you be interested in buying seperate railway trucks? or Would you be interested in buying a modular terraced house, or something along those lines, (Maybe a bit more detail describing a theme or something.) then perhaps they would get an overall feel for what people wanted? I don't know really what others think? Then when I actually found something that I did want to potentially support it asked me how much I would be willing to pay and how many I would buy? This was a bit off putting as to be honest I have no idea and what I would pay or be expected to pay in the UK is not going to be the same as someone in the USA or Asia and as such it is almost impossible for me to estimate especially without seeing the finished finalised project. Also how many would I buy? An odd question, most of the time I only buy one of each set especially the big ones? It just seems that the way they have set the site up is in such a way as to almost gaurantee people will be put off from nominating anything.
  14. My cat seerms to ignore it although he did run away from my Emerald Night when I set it running around the track the other day. He has never chewed anything though. When I was a child and they had blue railway track with the old 4.5V system we had a rabbit. He used to come in the house and steal the odd section of track and take it out into the grden and hide it. He had a whole stack of them once we found that he had hidden away in the back of his hut. They were however unchewed, just covered in straw and stuff.
  15. I would go with:- Battery box 88000 (You will need AAA X 6 batteries as well.) XL Motor 8882 This is the one that fits correctly in the EN. IR Receiver 8884 This will work with the remote to control speed and direction. Lights 8870 If you want it to have lights on the front. Remote control 8879 which works with the IR receiver to control speed and direction. (Also needs 3 X AAA batteries.) This is what I am using for my own version. I am not sure if it is possible to run it without the IR receiver and remote, it probably is but I imagin it would be going a little fast for a small circuit and may fly off the track on the sharp bends? I know I keep the speed on mine right down. The correct motor as in the instructions is the XL one. I am not sure if you can fit any smaller ones in there as to be honest I have not tired.
  16. I had an e-mail back today asking me to telephone them. I did this and they sorted it out for me ovewr the telephone although the lady I spoke to did not know why the 'Add to basket' button was not showing on the website. Still at least they were able to put my order right easily enough.
  17. No I am not from Indonesia, I am in England. My wife is from Jakarta though and we have been there on holiday. Always stay around the Senayan district when there. Back home to the UK now though. Yes I expect it has gone now as it was just there for the duration of the games according to the information I got. It is always interesting to see what is going on in the community around the world though, so I took the opportunity to e-mail bricksindonesia before leaving home in order to see if anything was happening and they told me about it. I was surprised/alarmed at the price of LEGO over there!
  18. Have been trying to add the Holiday Baubles, same problem no Add to Cart button. I've added other stuff and after finishing order without them I went back in and the add button was there. No idea why it would not do it in the actual order bit though? I have e-mailed them to see if they can be added though so hopefully they will come back to me.
  19. Did you not see the one at FX Mall in Jakarta last week? I think it was something to do with the SEA Games display that they had. I took a quick look as I was over there. I remember they did have a swimming pool, but I don't seem to have any photos of that particular bit of the display. I'm sure there must be some though on youtube/brickshelf somewhere?
  20. I have to admit that with all the price rises over the last few years it is getting a bit hard to justify the cost. It is also difficult to know what to buy, GW or LEGO?
  21. Oh yes I see what you mean, it is a bit of a large pantograph isn't it. Nice model though, it seems to be just right.
  22. Nice layout and i am quite (OK Very.) envious of the space. Just one question though and feel free to ignore it, but in my home town we 'Used' to have a functing frieght yard at our harbour back before the cuts. It used to have a couple of sidings where they would have trucks being loaded and unloaded onto ships whilst leaving the main line free. Is that something you plan to add?
  23. Very nice Eldar ships there, got any Imperial ones. I have a huge Imperial fleet somewhere in the attic. I am an avid collector of W40K minatures and love converting, not so good at the painting but better than I was twenty years ago. Don't get to play though as I find it a bit tedious. I did used to enjoy the odd game of BFG and even Man 'o' War when I was younger. Can't get interested in this new Dreadfleet nonesence though, it is just not the same! Other than that I am a keen writer of poetry and stories. Appears that there is quite a cross over between the W40K and the LEGO communities. I guess LEGO makes such good ruins/buildings to fight over or set your troops up on for display!
  24. Having powered switches is all part of a layout, I'm surprised they don't make an official add on as it is something any serious train fan is always going to want. I guess there just are not enough? Very good to see one though, maybe I can get around to getting the bits together. Nice crane too, although I don't have a lot of room unfortunately.
  25. I'm normally in the UK where it goes for the price on the website normally, however have been in Jakarta for few days and just popped into a shopping mall behind the hotel. Could not believe the prices they are charging, nearly double on most sets!
