  1. Um, I'm not actually sure what Mind Craft is? I have had a look at this and also googled it. Am I right to think it is a video/computer game where you build things in a similar manner to how you build with LEGO anyway, which if this is the case begs the question why not just buy a lot of LEGO and build stuff? Perhaps I am missing the point though?
  2. No doubt I'm being thick here, but I have no idea where this is? I have no 'torn page' icon that I can see? I have tried search and got nothing back for this function? Where am I supposed to be looking?
  3. I have had problems with mine derailing the tender when running backwards over the points. I think it was down to the cable though as fiddling with that seemed to fix the issue. It took a while to figure it out though as I was looking for a wheel thing until someone here mentioned the cable.
  4. I don't have any strong feelings, but I think if forced I'd prefer to see them all in the thread. What i do find really annoying is that when I click the link to follow it, it not only goes to the link (Leaving Euro Bricks.) but also opens another window on top of that with the exact same link. I then have to close one to view them properly and then click back to return to EB. What i would like and it must be possible is for it to either open a new window and leave EB open in the original, or just go to the link and not open a new one at all. Either would be fine. It is just if I am using one of my other computers they are a bit older and take ages to load two pages of photos. (This one is fine, but sometimes the wife is hogging it!)
  5. I prefer the fantasy era one. It is more like the trolls we have living locally that I remember playing around and with when I was a kid. They were fun, a bit dumb but in a kind of 'old man of the woods' way rather than actually stupid. They were very world wise if you get what I mean, show them an i-pad and they would try and eat it, but get them to live in the wild with no supplies and by their own wits and they were fine. The HP troll just does not look like a troll. It just looks to be some dis-preportioned doll with a very small head. I am pretty sure if I showed a picture of the HP troll to the trolls who live near my mother's house they would not recognise it as a toy that was representing their species, whereas the fantasy era one they probably would. (Not that I've ever seen them play with toys of course, but I mean in the way that a cat or dog recognises itself in the mirror.)
  6. After registering with Bricklink to 'Buy' lect the store, read the 'Splas and Terms' as they tell you things about postage and minimum spends and so on. If you are then you can put it in your basket, go to the checkout. It usually asks how you will pay. You get a selection, the usual sort of thing, paypal, crdeit debit card and so on. Sometimes it asks what postage option you want, depending o what the seller offers. Then you wait. The seller should send you an invoice for the cost and any postage. Once you get it, which is usually within a day I find (If not quicker.) you can pay using whichever method you have said. Then they send you the item. After that you and they both leave appropriate feedback, similar to e-bay. I have over a hundred purchases from them and have had no problems at all. I tend to use the same sellers though so I guess you build a raport with them. I have had many times when I have ordered in the morning, been invoiced within the hour and paid within the next hour, then the product has arrived in the post the very next day! I think the longest I've had to wait is a week. Generally it is a very good service. The only down side I can think of, (And it is really down to your control.) is that it is easy to get carried away and go there for a few things and come away with thousands, thinking that a few extra pence will not hurt. Having said that you can always review your basket prior to checkout and remove anything you have gone mad with, to bring the price in line with what you wanted to spend. But I would say, if you want the set and are happy with the price (Even if it is a bit expensive.) then the chances are you will get a good service as long as you pa on time.
  7. Fantastic! I have not seen a great number of Star Trek models, but this one is great.
  8. I use my local toy/hobby store for most of my purchases as I don't have a TRU within about 70 miles of home which adds to the cost anyway. The other day though I was going to the town where the nearest TRU is as my wife wanted to go shopping there. We stopped off to see what they had and I have to say that I was surprised that the prices were NOT discounted in anyway. Having stuck with the local toy/hobby store and spending so much there, (Not just on LEGO but other hobbies as well.) over the years they have now given me a 10% discount off purchases the same as the staff get, so that has paid off in the end.
  9. Yes I was using my other computer and could not get the keyboard to work properly, no matter how much I tried it just kept missing spaces and letters. I must have rewritten it about five times, which is possibly why it may not have been that plain. I nearly lost my temper with it!! What I am asking is this:- I have read lots of posts over the last few months and it seems at least from what I have read that a large portion of people posting have had or still do have 'N' Gauge layouts as opposed to other gauges. (Not saying nobody has other gauges just seems that most have had 'N' Gauge.) Given that 'N' Gauge is quite small, I was wondering if this is a reason why peoplw now like LEGO Trains as they are bigger sort of at the other end of the scale at least as far as normal commonly available models go. (I know there are bigger ones but I mean from what you can just buy in a everyday shop.) Just prior to getting back into LEGO I was considering purchasing an O Gauge train, but went with LEGO instead. One thing I found with my N layout was that although I could fit a lot in as it is a small gauge the detail of how much you can model is lacking as it is tiny. With larger ones, such as LEGO, you can model right down to the interior of buildings if you wish and so on. So my question is, did anyone else get into LEGO trains because it was a good size to work with and held all manner of possibilities for custom building after being frustrated by a scale that although allowed large terrain models did not allow for a great amount of detailed customisation, or were you just into it because you liked LEGO anyway, or both? Sorry, I know what I am trying to ask but maybe did not put it very well.
  10. Quite simple. I have been reading posts here for a while now about people's other train related experiences. It would seem to me that (From what I've read.) that a lot of s whilst being into LEGO trains also at one point had another more traditonal layout. It would also seem that a large number of us had or still have 'N' Gauge layouts. I find this interesting as certainly when I was younger the 'Normal' scale that people went for was HO/OO. If remember when I had mine first of all I wanted a HO/OO layout but my father got an N one with the view that you could fit more in, which of course was true. As time went on though i found the smallness of it frustrating and wanted to mdel larger buildings and stff. I really wanted an O gauge but we did not have room. So given the large number of us that have said we have had N Gauge in the past or still do and that we are now into LEGO L Gauge I was wondering if people felt the same way, that whilst small N Gauge is good for geting lots in there is a yearning to go big? I know for myself as an adult I had been contemplting an O Gauge layout in my garden for a while, thenI started colecting the collectable minifigs aain and thought about LEGO trains which is when I decided to go that route instead. So haveothers hd similarpaths toLEGO trains or are you all just into it beause you are ino LEGO anyway?
  11. Very nice and very leaf looking.
  12. On my N Gauge layout when I was younger it was all about creating a good scene. The fact that it happened to have some trains in it was rather by the way, the main thing was the town, country and what the over all picture looked like. With LEGO trains it is all about or at least more about creating the whole thing, the train obviously being essential. You can then make it as complicated or as simple as you like or can afford and design. It is up to you, whereas a model train is pretty much a model train and that is that. So yes, they can be models but they can also be toys, it is for each indivdual to make of LEGO what he wants, rather than having an outside manufacturer do it for him/her.
  13. I like what you did with the red train. I am thinking of something similar. I really don't like the pantograph thing as then the trains feel wrong unless you model the masts all around the track. When I was a youngster I had an 'N' gauge layout that had a DB railcar in red that was just a normal train. It kind of looked like the red passenger train without its pantograph, just stretched a little.
  14. I would like o see few different leg and body options. By that I mean, perhaps a leg section with a knee length skirt, sort of a half trainagle with legs/feet sticking out, perhaps a slightly different shape of body, either fat or thin? Maybe a few extra alien body shapes? How about a wheelchair?
  15. Very true, the style is classic space. I have some ADU alien flyers that I made which are very similar. I was thinking along the classic space lines from my childhood when i made them.
  16. OK whilst we are on the subject of copyright, are they actually going to call the 'Space Marine' a 'Space Marine' as that most definately is copyright by Games Workshop and the figure as was pointed out earlier in this thread does have certain similarities with that companies models, ie large shoulder pads, full armour and so on. I love the look of it and would hate to see the range (Or even that figure)get pulled over legal tussle. But I know from reading other forums that GW have seem to send C&Ds to anyone who even remotely looks like they may be infrining on their IP. Hopefully they will call it something generic enough to not cause a legal row. Would love to see both companies do a colaboration, but I know that is unlikely, but would hate to see them getting into an arguement as well.
  17. Well, most of the others are European or American, it is just so typical of British steam. Not that I don't like some of the others but it just reminds me of what I used to see when I was a samll child.
  18. Looks like the colour is spot on there. I cannot quite make out the wheels though, perhaps you have some other pictures? Looks good though from what I can see.
  19. I think I would have to say the Emerald Night, I really like large steam trains, they take me back to when I was a (Very very small.) small child. When ever I run it about the track I get that old Saxon song come to mind. (Princess of the Night.) It is just so steam train at least in my mind!
  20. It does seem as some people have said that the siding is a little close. However I note that you have plans to fix this. It can be very hard when there is limited space. I had a thought about maybe making the oval a bit thinner by taking out the straight and putting a siding on the outside? The benefit of this is that then even if it is a dead end (Which I guess most sidings are.) then you can cover it in a tunnel entrance or something so as to give the impression of your train disappearing on some long journey even if in reality it is parked in the tunnel. Just a thought.
  21. So many details and a good use of colour, it looks so real it is hard to think it is all LEGO.
  22. I've found these ones the easiest to find by the feel method. I had bought a few random ones from my local WH Smith as they keep them behind the counter anbd as such un-feelable. I bought ten and out of that got four skater girls, two genies, a minotaur, a chef and a gunslinger. Since then I have bought them from shops where I could feel them though and have got the whole set without resorting to duplicates apart from the space girls which I wanted several of. (And still do.)
  23. I had a similar conversation with the manager of my local hobby shop. They have a couple of little stores in our town as well as the main hobby/toy shop. One of these over Christmas was made into a LEGO only store. When they were doing this I asked if they were intending to set of a PAB wall and Mini-fig bar, but he told me the TLG would not support this. Basically there was not much stopping them doing it though other than cost and how much they would make from it. If they wanted to do it they would have to fund the bricks / minifig parts from TLG in the same way that nayone else would so it was just not worth the hassle or investment. They were not allowed to part out sets to sell on a PAB wall though.
  24. They are supposed to fly off at full speed, that is part of the fun, it is LEGO and can be rebuilt assuming you can find all the bits! On a more sensible note for older users just don't go as fast. The way the trucks join together has changed as well over the years. In the early stages of 4.5V (Blue track.) I used to get connectors that were little hooks that went into an opposite hole. They never came uncoupled as they were actually touching and hooked. Then they changed to magnets, blue and red if I recall. I found those magnets not so good and you could only pull about two trucks before they came apart. Nowadays the magnets are much better and if they are not strong enough you can pop a little 1X2 plate over them which works fine. (Not sure what connectors they have in 12V era as I have not had dealings with them. Space is a real issue. For me I have to use the floor and keep taking it up and putting it down. I have not even got room for a small loop, so whatever you can manage will be better than nothing.
  25. It is a two man skimmer for the ADU so they can chase after and shoot down all those little alien skimmers.
