    A few years ago - I can’t remember which modular it was - the reveal was made, either from a leak or the official thing, well before Thanksgiving. It was a picture from the set or at least the theme was known. I should search from previous posts. i just found it: with DD, the images were shown (maybe not officially) on November 18. I can’t go back further, I was a newbie on this forum then ☺️

    I agree with you: a traditional costume that is integrated in the history of a country shouldn’t be perceived as offensive. Au contraire, it should be seen as an interest in other cultures. When I travel, I don’t want to eat like I do at home, I want to see differences in living the day-to-day life. The same for how people dress differently. If done respectfully, it shouldn’t be seen as caricatural. I find it very sad when we want to erase the past because the values we have nowadays differ or are in confrontation with what was done centuries ago. We must learn from the past, reflect on the context why it was done that way and keep searching to improve ourselves from it. Anyway, I collect the CMF that have some kind of a national costume and I begin to have a happy bunch of them, always happy to make that group bigger and more diversified !

    I was rather taken by surprise when I read the last rumour - which is now considered to be the real thing - that the next modular would contain over 4000 pieces, for no particular reason (no anniversary to commemorate, etc); then I thought of all the sets that I’ve built in the past, for example the GE. I love shopping in real life and I would have been pleased at the time if the store had been at least twice that size. Many people have bought two sets to make a bigger one with success but you know, having one big ensemble with all the new exclusive colors and all the bells and whistles of new pieces and new construction techniques in a single box is more appealing to me, since I don’t consider myself to be a great designer to modify and adapt many sets together. Maybe at that time in 2010, the rise in price would have been too steep for a « all-included-double-set » for many since the collection was still new. For Star Wars collection for example, fans are already addicted from the movies, so enlarged Millenium Falcons one after another is no big deal, they will sell ! Same the with the Ninjago theme: how gigantic is that City Market ! But back in 2010, the Modulars had yet to achieve their recognition. So now that we’re all hooked 😆it would be no surprise to me from now on that Modulars will slightly enlarge, even with non-anniversary sets. Then I hope that from time to time, TLG will dare again to do some buildings with only one function (hospital, school, multimedia center, bus/train station, etc).

    You’re not the only one ! It seems to me that it is too close with elements we’ve already had in the past : flower shop, yellow awnings; why not go with a big building with city services: school, hospital, etc Any city needs those elements that are overdue for too long

    Hospital or school / university are on my top list. We’re overdue for a grand, single function building since PC, FB, TH ! I think a Assembly square # 2 would arrive too soon for our little town (2 poles of attraction - 2 « downtowns » - for too few other buildings). A nice « low skyscraper » of appartements of 5-6 floors with an elevator would be a welcome addition for all my CMF that are wandering on the streets of my city for too long… I also like the bus / train station that someone has submitted a few pages ago.

    Still waiting for a GWP to suit my taste; when I’ll buy the JC, I think I’ll stick to the original color scheme to go along with FB, PS, DO, etc

    Has anyone from Canada found them in store yet ? My best brick and mortar store is a Toys R Us near my home (where I’m at ease to feel the bags before buying them at 6 $ a piece !)but it has not received them yet, though they have plenty of Serie 23, more than when I bought some a few months ago…

    First, I will remove most of the stickers and put aside all the Marvel minifigures (I love Dr Strange movies, but he won’t fit in my city); I’ll fix some rooms to make a suitable inside living space: the Keep Out ! room will be opened to enlarge the space around and under the giant stairs: that will make one single large room, maybe a small restroom; the library doesn’t have much flooring space - I’ll put up some more planks, maybe put a dining a table; the top floor will be the bedrooms. I don’t think I will do much redo outside though: I saw some pictures where the Sanctum was placed beside some Modulars that are less tall (BH for example, or maybe DO for the NY vibe); it will leave a small deserted alley: a bike rentals could be placed there.

    I’ll also wait for future GWP, either the tiny Mexican house or the pizza van; maybe for the tiny house since I already have many vehicles in my city. First time I won’t buy a Modular on the first day. I think the tiny house could become the beginning of a new valuable collection. Well, I’ll resume the construction /modification of Sanctum Sanctorium to include it in my city layout. Happy New Year every one !

    I love that collection so much ! It never happened that I bought all the items of a Serie, sometimes not one at all, but this time, it will be the the highest proportion that I intend to get, 75 %

    It would be a good idea with black and white accents. I wanted to build a MOC appartment building in these colors with modified bricks (with groove, profiled brick, palisade brick) but not much to be seen at PAB. I will eventually buy the JC to complete the collection; I’ll wait for the GWP pizza van. It won’t be of my favorite ones, but it should fit well near Town hall, detective office or Fire brigade. Could someone post all the abbreviations for the previous sets, I kinda lost track…

    I really think we should get a school AND also a hospital as a single use modular. Even if those two types of buildings have been created under the City collection, the target audience for City and Modular isn’t necessarily the same. How many Police stations were sold under the City banner - it didn’t hinder PS to reach the market as a Modular set; IMO, the argument “ it has already been released as a City set” doesn’t stand anymore. We could use a school for all the children we get in some sets. A kindergarden ? With all the restaurants we now have, a culinary institute could be useful. A post office, a media building (radio, newspaper, television) are mandatory for a respectable city ! The JC has also expanded the possibilities for Modulars for more “mature” themes; a jewelry, a shop for sporting goods,…

    Even if an artist put all his blood, sweat, tears and heart in a project, a song, a movie or a Modular, it doesn’t always end up with acclaim maybe because the product is too personal or d’avant-garde to be appreciated by a large audience. I don’t think people in this forum minimize the work and the ethics of the designer. We simply compare with previous Modulars that may have been more in sync with our taste.

    I feel the same way… I prefer the architecture of the Sanctum Sanctorum. The colors of the Jazz club and pizzeria don’t bother me that much; it’s rather the finition details that in my opinion are lacking or look simplistic. Like someone has written, it reminds me of the fire station that I was reluctant to buy at first. Even the detective office with its very urban look had a little balcony, water reservoir, etc. I don’t find much innovation / relief on the outside. It looks as if some architectural details have been recycled from previous sets, very few innovations… For the first time in many years, I think I will wait for this one, at least when there will be a GWP. I hope the interior will raise some interest from a construction standpoint. I wish in the future we will have a full façade modular and not 2 mini cramped buildings (hospital ? School ?) maybe for the 20th anniversary !

    Indeed, I’m with you on that. Christmas is mainly for children, with an Advent calendar and all the sets advertised for that period; January 1st could be for adults, a mind game with some hints to make them wonder and dream… and budget ! Nowadays, all we hear about people in marketing is « create an experience around the product » : that is what some business « brick-and-mortar” - no pun intended- are struggling to do to keep their customers away from their Web - only counterparts. I’m a 100% fan of Lego products, but competition is fierce ! The product itself : yes; the dream around it : invaluable ! Happy January 1st in advance for all of you ! 🎉

    Indeed ! I think TLG could create a mega countdown to the official reveal date, with just the right amount of blurred insights, vague hints, etc Play/flirt with the fans, not just business-business-business. I don’t see how to simply say « stay tuned till…» would give some advantage to concurrent companies…
