  1. It’s the repetitiveness that is annoying me: a music instrument store like in AS, the round shape corner like BH; there are so many architectural styles around the world not to repeat the same patterns on such a short notice… It is not yet the 20th anniversary of Modulars to put some Easter eggs of past buildings like it was the case in AS for the 10th anniversary. It is as if the designer had wanted to do an extreme exercise of angles to prove to the Lego world what can be done. OK for the prowess, but the final result is not as convincing as the past 5 or 10 last Modulars. So little surface area also for each floor interiors…
  2. I’m somewhat disappointed about the whole product: bland color scheme, too reminiscent of former Modular that yet I loved when they were produced (AS and BH), like a déjà vu experience… I loved building BH with all the angles, the curves, terrific new techniques, overall design and the curb appeal; same thing with AS; the alley that was “real” in AS, here it seems like an afterthought, too squeezed between the 2 buildings. Maybe the interiors will convince me, but I’m not sold on it yet, even though I’ve got all the others.
  3. Hospitals are necessary in any city of a certain size and they’re not always unpleasant ! Mothers give birth in hospitals, people undergo surgical interventions and treatment to get cured; the staff is generally devoted for the welfare of their patients. I don’t see why a police station with a small prison cell is much fun than a hospital where sometimes small miracles happen. So much educational and story telling in a hospital ! Tell it to the authors of Grey’s anatomy, General Hospital and all the other tv shows in that setting. Anyway, it is a popular Lego topic since many City sets were created on that subject. Maybe next year for the 20th anniversary of modular sets with a greater footprint. In Bricklink Designer sets serie 9, a great university of science has been made with less than 4000 pieces, so it is possible to build that kind of multifunctional construction in a 32x48 or 32x 64 surface.
  4. Lego should go into Internet security services: they would do a great job to prevent account hacking 😂
  5. But this time it should be a corner building
  6. Last year, the first leaked picture was seen on October 29… I guess we have another 3 weeks to wait !
  7. Not necessarily : I made an elevator for a MOC appartment building (not yet completed !): my elevator shaft looks like a chimney with a door on every floor (4) and is fixed, a little bit like like the Lighthouse. Each appartment floor tough is removable. The removable floors are kinda U-shaped and the fixed elevator shaft is in the middle ou that U-shape.
  8. My city is in dire need for an appartment building since I often buy some minifigs in surplus of those included with the Modulars. I think it would be nice to have wraparound balconies (if it is indeed a corner building) on the second and third floor, in wrought iron like the ones we can see in New Orleans. Or some colourful tiled buildings with small balconies like the houses of the Ribeira quarter in Porto. I would be quite surprised if the next Modular was an all appartment building: I think a hardware store, a pharmacy or a convenience store could take place on the first floor; it could have a separate entrance for the floors above just like the hotel in Cafe Corner, or a small lateral business on the first floor like the laundry in the Brick Bank. What do you think ?
  9. I totally agree with you: while several post offices have a classic exterior design and represent an important amenity in any city, the playability aspect and interior decor ? Shelves, counter, boxes, letters…about the same as a library (although I love them in real life !) A hospital with all the medical instruments, a cafeteria, a pharmacy, an ER and OR and ICU, rooms, offices…so much to build and so many possible stories ! What about a school ? A gymnasium, a school class, a chem lab, a library, a small store to buy school supplies, a concierge office, a principal office, a geography class with globes and maps all over the walls… Or a media center with a television set on the lower floor - the cameras, rooms for make up and suites for the stars, news bulletin desk , a newspaper in another floor with all the presses, desks for journalists and on the top floor: a radio station… I’m dreaming !
  10. Why not ? In real life, a city is often made of buildings of different eras: some hyper modern city skyscrapers, some Victorian mansions, some very old gothic churches, many not too specific, even some eyesores 😆 ! The different timelines are what make a city rich in history and dynamic. Sometimes it is voluntary to renew an area because it’s not adapted to the needs of the next generation, sometimes it’s because of a natural disaster (flooding, hurricane, fire, etc). The challenge is to try to better incorporate those different features (styles, heights, colors, etc). So let’s use our imagination !
  11. So (crickets sounds), anything new under the sun ? Fall is coming soon and not even a little tiny hint of a theme, a color scheme, a piece count for our so awaited Modular ? Meanwhile, I’m happy to have receive today The old train engine shed; I love its color and design and it will be a wonderful inclusion in my City. It will become the departure point of my future purchase of City tramway, next year (no more budget for this year !)
  12. Ooooh Big week for early reveals ! Yesterday were the 2024 Modular early pics, and today: my second best collection : CMF Serie , the 25 th of the name ! Not the largest selection for me to buy, but 2 definite yes : the goat herder and the dog groomer with that elegant Afghan Hound to enlarge my dog collection. A maybe for the lady with the kettlebell who will fit perfectly in the gym (upstairs of the Downtown Diner), a maybe/maybe not for the dark detective, who can work in Detective Office. unfortunately, the last time I bought CMF was earlier this year with some minifigs from Serie 24, when we still had the chance to feel the bags. Don’t even know if the Toys’r’us nearby keeps them anymore, when I read about the free for all with open/destroyed boxes… I guess I’ll have to buy them from EBay or else… too bad
  13. Or better: a media center - tabloid office with presses, television set and radio station !
  14. And still, a post box near the bench … we can already speculate on the next modular - which should be a corner one - the much coveted Post Office ! But let’s enjoy this one for December 1st !?
  15. Overall, it seems like a yes for me: I like the roof line, reminds me somehow of the PR. The pillars, the portal and the stairs in front of the entrance share many resemblances with TH. I will place them on the same street, but not side to side. For the color scheme, I will give the benefit of the doubt - I disliked the ones on JC, but when I saw the official reveal with more contrasts than on the initial pictures, it grew a little on me (not my favorite though). I thought it would be taller: the details of the model mentionned the office of the curator on the third floor … an inside mezzanine perhaps ? On the outside, it looks like the FB: a tall 2 stories building instead of a 3 stories construction.
  16. How about the little hat people wear with their national costume in Bolivia - that would be so cool !
  17. Now that the theme is known, what I’m eager to see are the dimensions and the color scheme; first: will it be very tall or very large ? In older cities, the tallest building is often a church or the town hall; then I assume that it shouldn’t be taller than TH. For the number of pieces, it has to be on two plates. With AS, the mini buildings with their different shapes and colors made the whole block appear not too massive. Also, the fountain in the middle made a recess on the building (flower and photo studio behind it), so the façade of the whole ensemble wasn’t all gathered near the main sidewalk, it made the area more open. second: will it be monochromatic or will the aisles be of a different color ? If it’s too much of a same hue, it will dwarf all the buildings around it. The shape of the whole thing will also play a major role of the curb appeal it will produce. I guess I will have some major city rearrangements to do next January, but hey, it’s Lego ! So everything is easy and possible !
  18. Since it will be a natural history museum, a little touch of earth green (too rarely used) for accents with gray for the stoneworks and brown for wood would go with the concept
  19. Maybe there won’t have the new mould that you are searching for, but you surely will find some old molds 😆in that museum !
  20. Too bad for my hospital; I guess I’ll have to wait until the next anniversary set; I hope it will be of a classical architecture style
  21. go to bricksfanatics.com 10255 Assembly Square references 10 years of modulars - an excellent article that was published on 17/10/2016 all the design styles, the techniques used, the colors that have been chosen in earlier modulars are described in this new anniversary environment
  22. Assembly square is also an interesting choice for someone entering the world of Modulars since it includes Easter eggs details of all the sets that came before. I wonder if they will do the same concept for the future 20th anniversary Modular, not too far away in the future.
  23. What a nice idea ! I’ll vote for that motion 🇨🇦
