I’m quite satisfied with this serie: I think I will easily buy 8 or 9 in the lot even though many people in this forum consider that there are too many « city figures » and that they could be included in City sets instead (the fire woman for example), well the fact is that in City sets (which I don’t buy much) and Modulars (for which I’m a HUGE fan) don’t always have enough of those specific figures (for instance - in Fire Brigade: not much of a real firefighter in uniform); so I take advantage of the CMF series to « bonify » my Modular environment. Also, the CMF are inevitably more detailed than the minifigures included in sets. I agree that the ratio city figures vs monsters vs fantasy vs pirates vs costumes vs castle etc could be more equilibrated - for instance, not more than 4 « city figures » per serie (that would be good for my wallet... !) That way, a larger part of this forum would find their interest in each collection what do you think ? I can’t wait for September 1st !

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

The question is : who buys the Modulars ? Who is the main target « user » ? Are they mainly used for display or for playing time ? The answer to that may lead us towards the future building themes... -
I think I will buy many minifig from that serie to populate my city; I read many complaints: we all have our « agenda » or idea of what we would like in the future series; like many others wrote, I’m not a big fan of monsters, costume guys, licensed series but even then, I’m always surprised that I finally end up to get some of those I thought I didn’t care at first... long live to CMF !

I wish for an hospital or a school - absolute necessities but how about a media center ? Our city deserves the latest news ! the first floor could be a television station with all the cameramen and the crew, decor, show host and his/her desk and couch for guests, loges for artists and makeup, etc the second floor could be a radio station - that could remind us a little bit of the recording studio above the Diner at the third floor, there could be a meteorological center with maps, consoles, computers, globes, antennas, etc one of the floors could be also a newspaper room -
I agree with the commentaries above about some saturation with the costume theme. Some people mentioned their hopes of having historical theme (castle, pirates): I will add some real historical theme (Renaissance, medieval time, or a Beefeater for example). I collect Minifig with a food theme to advertise in front of my Green Grocer, but they’re actually collectively bigger then the store itself...

How about a Dalmatian with his fireman/woman, a bird of prey with a falconer, a zookeeper with his hippopotamus, a young cavalier with a poney (after all, they must fit in those tiny bags... ) I always wanted a Dalmatian to make a better fit with my Fire Brigade. So cliché ! A nice trend could be the national animal / bird of countries: the bald eagle for the USA, the cock for France, the beaver for Canada, etc

I’m 100 % with you ! Hospital, school : those sound universal as a theme and allow for nice diversity on each floor. I’m still dreaming ! And as someone wrote before, some kind of pitched roof for a change would be much appreciated. I’d like also to see new colors: light yellow, dark red, white and why not, some purple accents. Even though I love every single modular building I bought, I admit I’m longing for some classical building à la PR. With new building techniques as we’ve seen from newer sets like DD, that would be awesome ... -

I don’t know what is the average age of this forum but reading all the hype about the countdown, sorry but we are not yet 16+ to be “legit” to build the next modular ! -

A music school perhaps ? (Hoping...) yes a police station has its place for the community, but what about the limited features (office, interrogatory room, cell detention and above, a donut shop) ? Too similar IMO to DO school ! Hospital ! -

November 18 was the date that the first leaked image of DD has been revealed last year. About 10 days after, it was official that it would become the 2018 modular. A little later year after year... -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I’m just about to finish building DD ; when I buy a modular, I like to delay a little bit to construct it, when the fall arrives and just before the next one is announced... it helps for the wait... I must admit I’m really impressed with the techniques used. I was a little bit skeptical about the theme when it was revealed about a year ago (another eating place ? Really ?) The counter, the façade, the stairs, etc. From my point of view, it must have been the most complex to build yet. I think I was like many others who couldn’t resist to buy it anyway and I’m glad I did. Now: somebody somewhere, a little leak of information please ! P.S the BB also has a computer in the banker’s office -

I think TH is one the most important buildings and essential component in my city. Also, it’s the only one to have an elevator. I wish some further modular will have that same amenity, hopefully built differently for an extra challenge ! -

when I think about a new modular, I wonder also about the interior: what kind of furniture or accessories will make its decor. Although a library or record store would be “useful” to my city, it seems to me that it would be a little bit repetitive (bookshelves, display tables for records, a cashier or computer etc, things already seen on other modulars and not very specific) ; sure, some apartments could be seen on the second and third and even fourth floor , but I think we need some new innovative articles; indeed, a museum could be interesting in that way ( if not a school or hospital...) -

A school with classrooms, gymnasium, chemistry lab, principal office, little supply store, music classroom, art classroom, geography with maps all around... or hospital with an emergency room, X-ray room, laundry, cafeteria, pharmacy, etc Soooo many possibilities ! -

Just by curiosity, does someone know which is the bestselling modular overall to date ? I wish for the next one to be a hospital or a school : so many different rooms possible for each one, and enough elements to be a one theme building... Since I am the happy owner of them all, an hotel isn’t a first choice for me -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Hippocampe replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Personally, I will prefer a third series from the Simpsons over another hypothetical Disney theme for example; I need some civilians for my Modular city, and the Simpsons can deliver that (bus driver, teacher, groundskeeper, bartender...); this could also be accomplished with the future serie 19 for which I’m eager to see ! Milkman, postman, teacher, hairdresser, musician in a march band, referee, fireman, majorette, pharmacist, folks in national costume for my ethnic quarters, name it ! -

I agree with you: it adds some variety to the architecture styles of the city; also it’s an appreciated appartment building for all those otherwise homeless little minifigs ... also, on top of the gated market, there’s plenty of space to build a tennis court -

To help the wait, I went to last year forum pages and the year before at approximatively the same date as we are today (and before - October, etc); at least, we had first the OFFICIAL NAME of the set either from TLG or a very reliable source; this year, only a picture - a good one for that matter - and a name we supposed by seeing that image. Very secret this year TLG and for good reasons... -
