  1. I'm interested in where they're going with Red Son's redemption arc. After season 3 revealed When do you think we're likely to get leaks/reveals for the next Monkie Kid wave?
  2. That would be awesome :D
  3. An idea I've been batting around for a couple of years that I'd like to eventually MOD/MOC would be a minidoll theme based around Unicorns. Basically, there would be a group of maybe 5 teenage minidoll friends (2 boys and 3 girls) who live on Earth, but befriend a group of 5 Unicorn siblings who had to flee their magical realm when an evil sorceress or sorcerer took over their world, imprisoning the Unicorn King and Queen. I would probably have the villain allied with an evil Unicorn who was the sibling of the King or Queen. This evil Unicorn would have been jealous that his sibling was chosen to rule instead of himself and is perhaps manipulating the villain for his own designs on the throne. The 5 Unicorn siblings (2 stallions and 3 mares) would be the royal children of the Unicorn King and Queen and would need the help of the 5 human friends to battle the forces of evil with a view to liberating their world. Maybe the unicorns can only access their full power when they have an emotional bond with a special human. Which could also explain why the evil Unicorn needs his evil minidoll ally. Perhaps the Unicorns can only grow wings and fly when ridden by a human? The gimmick for the sets would be that each Unicorn would appear as a "normal" horse most of the time on earth, masquerading as pets of the teenagers. Though it's a minidoll theme, so I'd still want them to be fantastically coloured or detailed. The existing minidoll horse mould would suffice for these characters in their regular horse disguise. However, when magic was needed, there would be a Unicorn horn piece that would attach to the horse's head, as well as armour and/or wings to give the toy a transformation feature. In their magical mode, the Unicorns can enchant everyday items to give them special features. So I'd maybe design a set that had a car that one of the minidolls drives on Earth, but it could transform into a chariot that could be pulled by the Unicorn to fight magical battles. Perhaps a bed belonging to a minidoll could transform into a magical flying boat, or an ordinary Wishing Well could flip up to make the magical gateway to the Unicorn's world.. and so on.. I would have each of the 2 Unicorn Princes come with 2 of the female minidolls as their chosen rider and 2 of the Unicorn Princesses having the 2 male minidolls as their riders, so it's not just all about having boys with boys and girls with girls, there would be more of a sense of different genders getting along. Though there would be the 3rd minidoll and her female Unicorn as the main characters to still kind of code it as a "girl's theme". So there's 2 more female protagonists than males, but it's not only got minimal male representation. Each unicorn would probably share personality traits and interests with their rider, so the sensitive male unicorn connects with a sensitive female rider and the warrior Unicorn Prince connects with a more aggressive female rider and so on, so each gender is represented in different roles to show any gender can be good in any role. The main minidoll and Unicorn will maybe be the eldest of their respective social groups, with certain leadership responsibilities to give them a commonality. I don't know, I haven't thought it all through yet. I did experiment with making an attachable Horn for a minidoll horse, using the existing small hole in the Lego minidoll horse's heads but it's not great.
  4. There's a video discussing it here, though obviously it isn't an official statement from Lego or Flying Bark, it does reference conversations with the handsome showrunner Villads Spangsberg, one of which is here, I hope we do get further seasons of MK, even if it has to be produced on a lower budget by a different studio. There's so many awesome directions it could go in
  5. There was an interview referenced online that mentioned Lego only commissioned Flying Bark to make 3 seasons of Monkie Kid and aren't willing to fund a further season after the current story is concluded in the upcoming special. I hope the theme continues, even if there's no new cartoon episodes. Maybe Lego will do a comic that continues the story like they did with Nexo Knights in Europe? Or produce their own webisodes like they did for Hidden Side?
  6. DC just launched a new comic book superhero called The Monkey Prince, who is friends with Shazam and has a phobia of Batman. Like Lego's Monkie Kid theme, this new DC hero is based on the Chinese epic; The Journey To The West. With Lego focusing some of their products on the Chinese market in recent years, I wonder if The Monkey Prince will eventually appear in a Lego DC set, since sets including characters from The Journey To The West have apparently been selling well in China? I suppose it will depend on how popular the comic book is.
  7. I've just read the prequel comic (issue 0) online and it's dark inasmuch as; The comic may be a big mess, but I'm going to read it when it comes out before making up my mind on it. Since Lego makes DC licensed sets, we may eventually see The Monkey Prince in a DC set, in the unlikely event of the character becoming popular.
  8. So.... There's a new DC comic where a teenager takes on the mantle of The Monkey King, becoming The Monkey Prince. The story, set at least partly in Gotham City, features The King Bull Demon, Shifu Pigsy, Nezha, Red Boy, Princess Iron Fan etc.. I'm cautiously hoping it does well and expands on the Monkie Kid lore, hopefully making The Journey To The West more popular in America and Europe etc, so Lego may release the Monkie Kid sets in more places and continue with further seasons of the show so that season 4/the next special isn't necessarily the end of MK's animated adventures. "Introducing the newest hero in the DCU, the great sage, equal to the heavens, better than his predecessor the legendary Monkey King, even better than the Justice League—and definitely the Teen Titans—(actually, all the heroes combined), everyone put your hands together for…the Monkey Prince! Marcus Sun moves around a lot because his adoptive parents are freelance henchpeople, so this month he finds himself as the new kid at Gotham City High School, where a mysterious man with pig features asks Marcus to walk through a water curtain to reveal himself as who Marcus really is…someone who has adventured through The Journey to the West, can transform into 72 different formations, can clone himself using his hairs, and is called…the Monkey Prince!" https://bleedingcool.com/comics/new-10-page-dc-comic-monkey-prince-0-in-full/

  10. Found it on youtube today, even without the subtitles it was pretty easy to follow.
  11. Thanks, just watched all except the Chang'E episode. It was all so epic! It was interesting how they handled Mei's connection to the True Fire of Samhadi as seen in set 80033 and it was great to see Macaque's mech in action. I hope the Chang'E episode gets subtitled soon
  12. Oh, Cool. Where are people watching season 3?
  13. Has anyone heard the rumours that Lego are planning a soft reboot of Ninjago. Basically ending the current story with a "final battle" this year, then continuing Ninjago with a new team of Ninja? People are speculating that the current Ninja may appear as older, mentor characters. I just saw a video called Ninjago RETIRES the Current Ninja in 2023? discussing this possible (but not officially verified) change by TannerFishies on YT
  14. The new intro looks amazing!!! Now I just need to figure out how to watch the Chinese version of the show with english subtitles before it comes out in the english dub
  15. I finally built the dragon from the Ninjago movie theme that I've had sitting around for years so Mei could ride her Great x 1000 Grandad into battle against the baddies. Link to the pic below, picture quality isn't great, but you get the idea lol. https://www.flickr.com/photos/30580957@N04/51826095252/in/dateposted-public/
  16. In the same way that Lego used the codename "Leaf" when they were developing a recent new theme, I saw an article on, I think it may have been Brickfanatics that said Lego are now using the codename "Coconut" for a theme to be launched in October, I think it said. I hope it's an original in-house theme and not just the rumoured Avatar or Indiana Jones sets
  17. The season 3 trailer has an underwater location, you can see coral in the background. I imagine the Scorpion demon riding a giant scorpion will come in a set similar to how they had the Spider Queen riding on small spider themed mech vehicles in some sets. There's already been a set released showing Mei wielding the power of all three Samadhi Fire Rings, I'm interested to see if that plays out in the show. maybe only a dragon can use them, and that's why it's Mei and not MK or Sun Wukong? Actually, since the Monkey King's staff came from a dragon, I wonder if Mei can wield it? Unless The Great Dragon enchanted it for TMK specifically, so only he or his chosen successor could lift it? I'm surprised Monkey King's iconic circlet hasn't featured in the show, except on the mural and when MK first powered up. Since achieving enlightenment, the Monkey King didn't wear it, but I'd love to see Yin and Jin trick MK into putting it on so they could debilitate him with the headaches it causes by squeezing tight. It's be a great callback to a popular aspect of the original literature and would create character development for MK having to increase in wisdom or overcome his impulsiveness to be able to remove it
  18. Reminds me of Megatron from Beast Wars
  19. I dislike how easy it is to get fingerprints on the clear stickers. I always use tweezers to apply them now.
  20. While I have no interest in Ninjas, I have so many Ninjago sets that I bought for the builds or the enemy characters. Most of my Lego sets are fantasy themed, I love Hidden Side, Ultra Agents, Scooby Doo, Nexo Knights and Monkie Kid. I use ghosts, Skullkin and monsters from Ninjago with these other themes. Crux, Acronix, Pythor, Eyezor, Ninjroids, Overborg etc fit into most of these other themes as fun supervillains, Ninjago City and Ninjago City Gardens are my Monkie Kid City, Ninjago's Temple of Resurrection was my Flower Fruit Mountain/Monkey King's house until Lego made Flower Fruit Mountain for real, My Nexo Knights drive around in Ninjago vehicles (and Star Wars ones that I modified with Nexo Knight colours). Like Ninjago, I also have no interest in Harry Potter, Marvel, DC or Star Wars but I have lots of those sets to add fun creatures, characters, vehicles and locations to the themes I am interested in. I imagine many AFOLS buy a lot of Ninjago sets without actually being into the Ninja narrative.
  21. I've ordered Macaque's Mech and the Chang'e moon cake factory. Since they parodied Food Wars in season 2, I really hope there's a scene in season 3 where they parody Sailor Moon when Pigsy steals the moon cakes from Chang'e. I'm imagining her yelling "In the name of the Moon, I will punish you!"
  22. I'm just watching season 1 episode 9 and thinking it'd be cool if they made Monkie Kid versions of the recent Ninjago Epic Battle Sets. They could do one with MK vs Macaque or a Shadow Monkey, where MK has the purple eyes and the evil Macaque symbol on his torso print. That'd be a fun MK variant. There could be a mini build of the shadow puppet theatre from season 2. Not sure what else they could do... Maybe Sandy Vs Huntsman with a mini forest build and an animal or 2.. Maybe Tang with Jin or Yin and a little library build with a collapsing bookshelf feature to squish the demon since Tang isn't a fighter... I dunno, just brainstorming
  23. Looks amazing! I wonder if we'll ever see a monthly Monkie Kid magazine with minifigs as free gifts like they do with Ninjago etc...
  24. Yeah, it's quite subtle with Joshua and Trevor waving to each other in the pics, plus Maya is pictured alongside each of them suggesting they're her caregivers. And they have a rainbow wall in their apartment. Of course, kids can make any story they want, they could use Evelyn and one of the guys as Maya's parents if they wanted. I just love that Lego is being inclusive with a non-traditional family, I hope Lego is brave enough to show Joshua and Trevor together in the Friends TV show so kids with 2 same gender parents can feel represented. Lego have been keeping their descriptions of Friends sets gender neutral for years, saying things like "your child will enjoy this" rather than "little girls will enjoy this", but I love the new direction they're taking with adding more male mini-dolls into the line up to balance out the previously female heavy line up. It's a step in the right direction so that little boys who love cute animals and more "slice of life" themed sets can feel like Friends is also including them. I hope the inclusive trend continues with Lego putting same gender parents in City sets. They're finally representing the visually impaired and wheelchair users in sets, so they're making lots of steps in the right direction.
  25. Oh cool. Can't decide which I like better
