[MOC] Aston Martin DB11
brickhank replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Received the last of my missing parts today ! When I walked through them I didn't find the exhausts. It was only until I checked my Rebrickable parts list, that I found out minifig parts are excluded, Lol I think I'll wait for @Jeroen Ottens's final parts list and than do the final buy for the updated parts, including the minifig exhaust pipes... -

No problem to re-order a few added and / or replaced parts due to the final parts-list update. Having a few spare parts available for future builds is always good. Let's hope the changes are not affecting too many (very) rare parts (such as the head lights), though... -

@Aleh: Make a custom list with the DB11 parts, and than hit the button build this list => it will show your missing parts -

@Blakbird: Wow, impressive ! BTW, I like the remark "Instructions available soon." on your Bricksafe page. I think @Jeroen Ottens did a great job, not only getting the outside shape of the car right, but also the technical inside of the car looks very interesting as far as I can judge from the renders only, pending the LDD model or instructions... -

@Appie: that's also how I did it. Make a custom list with the DB11 parts, and than build it. (I would go for it with 91%...). -

That's what I assumed; It was meant as a joke... Nevertheless, I hope the final model and instructions will be released soon. I will keep following this thread closely -

Yes, I noticed that yesterday evening the site was "read only" for a long time. But as soon as it was fully functional again, I imported the parts list and made a missing parts wanted list for this amazing MOC. I have secured most of the parts (except for the electronics) via Bricklink already, so I hope no major changes will happen... (BTW: @Jeroen Ottens: in case you need another test builder, I volunteer ! ) -

I know Bricklink and Rebrickable, but Brickstock is new for me. I'll give it a try => DONE, this worked ! (I am still relatively new to this. The Porsche I got myself for Christmas got me into it again after > 30 years... ) -

Thanks, but somehow I can't import the xml file in Excel (although this mornings list was no problem...?!?). Would it be possible to re-supply it in a different format ? error message: "invalid file reference or one or more of the referenced schemas could not be found" BTW: I already secured the connector # 3 parts for my upcoming build of the Scorpion CK-R MOC -

OK, I will keep monitoring this thread for an updated partslist. Regarding the instructions: you are going to release these, right ? I am definitely interested. Good luck with the testing & debugging, optimization and implementation into the final instructions ! -
Don't worry, I still have the Scorpion CK-R MOC project to concentrate on first. Just received the last remaining missing parts (of course, the currently quite rare 32016 connector #3 's) But I will keep a close eye on your progress as well... Good luck with the testing and optimization before final release !
-
Just received the last of my ordered missing parts for this MOC; of course these were the infamous Connector #3 parts... Supply on Bricklink is still quite low and scattered (a lot of sellers have only 1 or 2 available). Luckily I was able to get my hands on some from a German eBay supplier Looking forward to begin the build (after having disassembled the Porsche)
-
I noticed that quite a lot of 42003 (Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular 3L with 2 Pin Holes) are used in the bodywork. Is it correct that these parts are not available (yet) in orange color ? (I was evaluating to possibly build this model in orange as I have quite some orange parts available from the Porsche and Scorpion CK-R builds... )

Thank you @legolijntje ! I would really appreciate a preliminary parts list to check if the amount of missing parts is "feasible" or not. I really like this DB11 MOC... -

Hi @Jeroen Ottens: Could you let me know what the lengths are of the silver soft axles you used ? I am preparing already pending the released parts list and instructions. BTW: could you shed some light on the expected date that the parts list and instructions would be available ? Groeten -
Hi @goldstripes, manual comparison is not needed. If you make a rebrickable acoount and add the Porsche to your set list and the additional parts for @Didumos69 "ultimate playable" version to your parts list in your account, you can just hit the "Build this MOC !" button for the Scorpion MOC and it automatically generates the missing parts list for you. Which can be exported to e.g. Bricklink for purchasing parts, etc... (found all of this out in the last few weeks myself... )

Hi Jeroen, that's what I was hoping for . Got myself the Porsche for Christmas and am now preparing for @Paul Boratko's Scorpion CK-R MOC. with these additional parts I should be relatively close to the parts of your DB11, I guess... I hope you will keep us informed of status and progress of the instructions. -

@Jeroen Ottens: I came across your project and it looks really impressive. What's the current status and when would the part list and instructions be available ? -
@RISCy: I understand what you mean, but it is possible to build it based on the LDD model, without additional building steps. Make use of the groups and select multiple parts of the model and by inverse selection (temporarily) delete the parts around it that you're not interested in at that moment. Don't forget to undo after completing the specific part and don't save the model with the deleted parts of course. It takes patience, but it's part of the fun in my opinion and get's you really into the design of the model. See my post of January 1st above for some of my lessons learned. Good luck !
-
@Didumos69: Hmmm, I think I might have a new problem now: finding enough time (and not to forget money to acquire all missing parts...) for all these great MOC's... I will first concentrate on @Paul Boratko's Scorpion, but will definitely monitor your Rugged Supercar build; this also looks very COOL and hard to resist to get into...!

Talking about stickers: found additional stickers on the internet especially made and pre-cut for this model. See the pictures below of my finished build of Didumos69 ultimate playable version. This build is amazing ! I think the extra stickers really complete it After nearly 30 years of not touching LEGO, I think this build really got me into it again. I am already considering ordering the missing part to build this MOC: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/crowkillers/scorpion-ck-r-supercar, although that means I have to disassemble the mighty Porsche. But hey: than I can re-assemble it again after I get tired of the mentioned MOC...
-
Just finished Box 1 of your ultimate playable version. I am impressed how you developed all these modifications and am very happy with the result ! The assembly process was rewarding but sometimes frustrating. For me, the main lessons learned during the build were (in diminishing priority order): PDK-unit: make sure the yellow gears have the correct orientation before connecting it to the gear box, otherwise the shifting will not work as intended. It took me some time to figure out the sequence how to assemble the shifting unit side panels with the added beams for increased sturdiness of the chassis. Sometimes the elasticity of the plastic parts turns out to be very handy In general: think many steps ahead to avoid having to disassemble and re-assemble parts again because the wrong assembly sequence was followed. While checking your LDD-model, always keep an eye to the original LEGO build instructions. I am looking forward to proceeding with Box 2 Didumos96 Keep up the good work !

Thanks. Keep up the good work ! Can't wait to receive my extra parts (unfortunately no shipments during Christmas... ) and actually start the build.
