  1. Hi Blakbird, yes I am aware of that and will probably have to throw my principles aside. I still find it hard to understand why these electrical parts are so relatively expensive. For example the part 87513c01 is not much more than a 9V battery, right ? BTW: is it just a LEGO box with a standard 9V battery inside and can the battery be exchanged when it's empty ? (Putting it in perspective relative to the cost of a real Aston Martin DB11 this is of course a non-issue... )
  2. Secured my yellow connector #2 on Bricklink in the meantime. I'll find out as soon as the instructions will be released... (can't wait... )
  3. Apart from the electrical parts: only 9 parts to go I think I will go for a different colour #2 connector; I wonder how the aesthetic reason can be important when the part is nearly invisible...?!?
  4. Looks great ! Can't wait to start the build myself. Hope there's not too many changes compared to the preliminary parts list as provided earlier by Jeroen (and that I used to start buying missing parts already)... Kudo's to the team that contributed to finalizing this great MOC and instructions ! Question: is it possible to not integrate the electrical parts by simply not including these in the build, or do these components also have a mechanical / structural function in the model ? (As these parts are quite expensive, I am still considering to buy these or not...)
  5. Hi @Paul Boratko, I hope you don't mind I slightly modified the looks of the front side of your wonderful MOC. I started with the bonnet and finished with the head lights. I used the "spare" parts I have sitting here waiting for the final release of @Jeroen Ottens DB11 MOC (I prepared already by buying my missing parts based on the preliminary parts list as posted earlier by Jeroen). I like the shape much better now, but it's a matter of personal taste of course and it might not do justice to the original car that was the basis for your MOC... I wonder what you and others think of it. Here's a few pictures: I am considering doing some additional modifications to the back side, although I like the original back side of your model much more than the original front.
  6. @Fargo73: do you have a Rebrickable account ? In Rebrickable it's easy to add the Porsche to your personal setlist and activate: "use this set list in build calculations". Than add @Didumos69 lxf file as a new set list (you can import an lxf file in the set list). Now you can hit the button "build this set" and it calculates the missing parts based on the parts that you already have (i.e. the Porsche set and possible extra sets and / or parts). As a next step import the missing parts list in Bricklink and follow the buying process there. Figured all of this out - helped by all the guys here of course - since I am back into the LEGO business again as of last Christmas... Good luck ! BTW: I would go for the ultimate playable version, not limited to the errata only. I built it myself and am very happy with it
  7. Nice work ! Only thing I personally don't like so much are all the small bricks over the flex axles to create the fenders, although it gives the car a very robust look on the backside. On the other hand, in my opinion creating really nice looking fenders is always a challenge by only using flex axles...
  8. Completed the build this Sunday. It confirmed my earlier judgment of this MOC. Very good quality design and robustness overall !
  9. Exactly, the Batmobile is the first thing that popped up in my brain after seeing this. Nice job, although the shape of the car is a little "over-the-top" for my personal taste...
  10. OK, thanks for noting. Corrected it. BTW: what determines the max. file size that a user can post ? (mine is currently limited to 0.02 MB). (sorry for off-topic question).
  11. Exactly, this lava orange model triggered me to come out of my LEGO-less cave where I spent 30 years since my youth and made be pick-up the LEGO virus again...
  12. Thanks Didumos for this service . For me it's not only the re-use of the Porsche parts, I personally like the orange / black contrast better than the red / black combination. But hey, that's only a matter of taste, isn't it... ?
  13. Wow, very nice ! (you make me doubt my decision to concentrate on 1:8 MOC's only... )
  14. That's what I figured out in the meantime by closely inspecting and experimenting with the construction. Thanks for your explanations. Now that I have completed my chassis, I can confirm and completely agree ! (looking forward to completing the model this weekend)
  15. OK, thanks for the update. Much appreciated. No need to rush. Better make sure everything is right before going public. At least we have a target date on the horizon now. Good luck with finalizing everything in between your travels...
  16. Hi @Jeroen Ottens: any news on current status and progress and expected release date of the final parts list and instructions ? (sorry for being impatient... )
  17. Hi @Paul Boratko: After finishing the chassis and connecting the wheels I noticed the maximum steering angle is quite small resulting in a quite large turning circle of the car. Is this a deliberate choice by design or a compromise for another reason ? Like I already mentioned here I am really impressed with the functionality and design of your MOC . The above item should therefore not be considered a real issue; I am just interested to know the background for this...
  18. I agree about the original Porsche, but have you tried the ultimate playable version of Didumos ? It's a great improvement in many areas such as shifting mechanism, and not to forget the (front) suspension... I like your idea of making a personal body design, but before I begin experimenting with that I still have to learn and get more experience from building more of the great MOCs found here. Currently on my To-Do list: finishing Paul's Scorpion CK, definitely Jeroen's DB11 !, and probably Didumos Hammerhead Super car...
  19. @Didumos69: I agree on the bodywork of this Scorpion. I personally like the shape of @Jeroen Ottens DB11 better and I'm anxiously awaiting his final release of the parts list and instructions. In the meantime it's well worth building @Paul Boratko's really nice Scorpion CK MOC. (the bodywork preference is more of a personal taste thing than a matter of bad design...).
  20. Although I personally liked the blue / white seats, I understand your choice for DBG / LBG for your model. The spoiler shape is much better now, but in my opinion it should be lifted a little to stand out from the body a little more (not too much, just subtle). (I am still trying to figure out a way to build it in orange, despite the fact that some of the parts you used or not available in orange...)
  21. Up until my current build status, everything seems to be running quite smoothly. I will keep monitoring during finalization and report my findings here.
  22. I agree and I will start: I started the build this Sunday and am currently @ page 61 of the instructions. I have to say I am already really impressed by the shifting mechanism and the sturdiness of the chassis ! @Paul Boratko really engineered this well ! It's much better than the original LEGO Porsche and even @Didumos69 ultimate playable version of it (no offence @Didumos69, you really did a great job in getting the most out of the Porsche within the boundaries of the model, whereas the Scorpion was build up from scratch ) (and I am also following your Rugged Hammerhead Supercar with interest... )
  23. Yes, or the other way around. I really like the white, but a blue centre contrasts more nicely than the lbg in the above picture, I think...
  24. I agree about not using flex axles, but I think adding some panels to act as fenders could work (in the front possibly exchanging the small 11947 panel with a bigger panel, would be sufficient ?). I don't mean to completely cover the wheels in fenders, but only a panel (wing shape) partly covering the top of the wheels could add something in my opinion. But of course it's a matter of taste. I like the relatively big wheels in this concept though.
