For independent tracks driven by one motor you need a something to pass through turntable. Most of the time older type of differential is used, see pictures from my rope front shovel excavator where I powered 6 functions from 1 motor, including independent track movement: 20170515_182156 by Ivan Moc, on Flickr the shaft in the middle is drive for right side, you have to place old differential on it that will drive the 16z gear on left for left track. Then you have to use top 24z gear on differential to move left track and shaft that goes in the middle for right track. I hope it is clear.

Of course, I mention it above - the bodywork is mostly from Jaap because what is good doesn't have to change -
[MOC] Front loader w instructions
Ivan_M replied to Ivan_M's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh yes sorry, I forget to include link for video, thank you: -
Hi everyone, I would like to present my latest creation. It started by building this loader: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-0400/JaapTechnic/komatsu-wa320-5/#comments by JaapTechnic and it was very inspiring because the model is quite old and it just reminds you how many parts were introduced and how many new possiblities are opened. So before jumping to another nice loader I decided to create my own drivetrain leaving nice bodywork that I liked. So the rear bumper, engine cover and partly cabin is work of JaapTechnic, the rest is purely done by me. The whole thing is powered by L motor with final reduction 7:1, steering is also by L motor geared by 1:2,8 for faster steering. Bucket is operated by two M motors. I'm particullarly proud that the whole build is very sturdy, all gears are supported from both sides and all moving parts are system locked. The one thing that is bothering me a little is gearing to bucket - while the two LA for lifting are geared 1:1 the one LA for bucket emtying is geared by 3:1 so it is much slower. Otherwise everything works perfect. Why on earth is it blue?? Because I have only blue in sufficient quantity Lastly I really like making instructions, last time I did it I had quite fun so it was no brainer this time. Technic 2018 Set Discussion
Ivan_M replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm not interested in sets at all in general, but I'm interested in recolors, new parts and reintroduction of colors not produced in long times. 2017 was quite good in recolors but it was lacking new parts. Prelims are also showing some nice recolors and comeback of certain colors, I hope there are some nice new parts as well -

Yes, exactly. This is why I think the Mack truck will come with 49,5mm tires, no PF at all and piece count ~1700 for target price 130-150€ (RRP). It would be cool if it comes with new more narrow tire to acompany current 49,5mm tire. -
B-models are designed by other designers than main model, I would say some rookie did this and I suspect Samuel Tacchi might be the one. Take a look at interview on brickset: https://brickset.com/article/29340/interview-with-technic-designers This line exactly: Brickset: Are there any vehicles which you would like to build but have not been able to so far? Samuel: We are definitely always looking for new challenges every year and constantly trying push the boundaries, either by improving on vehicles we have done before or seeking out new ones.

Very nice review, I would also mention new recolor - thin 7L liftarm in DBG -

Yes I will order them on BL or S&H, but I have bunch of 32L already so I thought I will ask before doing anything stupid- 5,465 replies

General Part Discussion

Reddish brown expanded a lot in terms of connectors and panels, but the liftarm selection is very poor - only 3,5 and 15L are available and zero thin ones. I think the most funny is that we have 63869 in brown as third color ever released: where the hell is yellow, white, blue and red!! It is interesting that the best recolors are now originating from other themes than Technic. Different topic - I need 16L axles and they are quite expensive, esp. in black. Anyone cutted 32L axle in two? They are quite flexible so I'm worried if it will work.. (sorry if I offended anyone with this)- 5,465 replies

good spot, thank you so much! It is indeed much better to search by element ID and not by part ID. Not sure if 20 pieces is enough now #2 DBG connector from 75532 is not yet available unfortunatelly, but pin with pinhole in DBG is VERY reasonably priced!- 5,465 replies

Anyone knows how bricks & pieces work? I would like to buy bulk of recenty re-released parts that were last seen decade ago, namely 32184 in DBG that appeared in 75119 last year. Since its release this part is "out of stock" and it is still overprices at BL- 5,465 replies

Doing something different for sake of different is nothing I appreciate. The linkage steering is usually much more sloppy than rack and pinion and I would say that young builders would understand rack solution better. Give a kid example of linkage system and rack and let him build his own creeation - my bet is the one with rack will get working steering.

Thank you. I have checked Sariel's speed build and you are correct, hard ones are in back. Based on my experience from mocing I would swap them because front is usually heavier due to more parts there -

Would you please take a picture with technic figure inside on seat and outside of the car? I also think you misplaced shock absorbers - hard should go front and soft into back. -

I agree that vibrant colors appeal to young children, but is it the same for (boys) in age 11-16 as TLG is promoting? I'm not sure about that. -
Good news everyone! First of all, here is video showing final version of outridges, as i thought, 4x4 bent liftarm was indeed good solution as when deployed they can lock and support whole truck above ground. However they are not strong enough to lift it, you have to help it by hand and I wanted to keep them driven by gears, not by hand like on Xerion: Second, more important news, the PDF building instructions are done! It features whooping 272 pages and 194 steps not counting sub-assemblies. The whole model consist of 1301 parts. To give you hint how it looks like here is sample: military recovery truck_page_93 by Ivan Moc, on Flickr I hope you will understand that it took a lot of time finish it so I have decided to humbly ask 10€ 5€ for the instructions, I hope you will understand. If you are interested please send me a PM, drop email to moc.ivan@gmail.com or use direct paypal link http://paypal.me/IvanMoc/5EUR I have reduced price to 5€, 10€ was too bold to start with. Thank you Rebrickable entry is here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-8976/Ivan_M/military-recovery-truck/

Technic 2017 Set Discussion

One more thing about 42070 - I really miss HOG steering on it - you can disable drivetrain for push-play and HOG would make a lot of sense -
Technic 2017 Set Discussion
Ivan_M replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
live axle - whole axle with both wheels moves towards chasis, wheels stays same to each other independent - as name says, each wheel can move independently (up, down) from the opposite wheel The 42070 is even worse then I imagined, what about the pins near front axle, doors held by one pin, color vomit not just on small parts but color coding by liftarms.. The only thing I like are outridges -

I would be surprised if another truck similar to Arocs is on the way. It was mentioned in Q&A by designers that they tend to make larger gaps between similar sets. On the other hand, if Arocs sold really well even when reaching EOL it would make sense from economic perspective. -
[MOC] Mining Excavator
Ivan_M replied to Krall's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice little build, I really like your solution for emptying bucket, I build similar excavator few months ago and that function was very difficult for me to implement. I like your attention to detail as well.
