That's really cool! Especially the functionality, would love to see a video of it in action as well!

That looks really good! I love the colour scheme!

They're really cute! I love the little consist like that! There's something charming about detailed yet "simple" in style models, can't wait to see your matching loading station!

I ordered something from them last time in August, and they don't say anywhere that they're closed. Could be a case of just having missed the email, 10 days ago was the tail end of the busy holiday period after all... Might be worth asking them about it again! Or if not, well, there's 3D printers for not too much money on the market, haha

Thank you very much! Honestly the challenge to build so small is amazing, whilst my next project after the 70.0 that's almost done, will be a Baureihe 56.2 (Prussian G8.2), I kinda want to build some even smaller locomotives with the same functionality, haha These small locomotives just have something that really speaks to me for some reason, and it's hard to choose! To be fair, I ditched most of the really expensive dark green parts. Though I did accidentally order 2 1x3 bricks because I forgot to check the prices for those... So the cost of this locomotive, without any of the electronics/3D printed parts, is only around 60-70 EUR, excluding shipping at the time of writing this. So could be a lot worse! But I really wish they'd make some parts again, because choosing between structural rigidity and looks isn't my favourite part! Haha

You could always try upgrading to a 3rd party motor, like the CaDa ones? Same for the 2200, it should be able to fit two L motors in the hood, one on either end I think? Less speed but more power than the standard train motors, just less speed, but you don't really need that with a freight train 😅
-
Yeah, I've got them in-between the frame too! But I've stacked the two motors on top of eachother to leave space for wiring at the front because when I was building it I had an insane idea... But I'll leave that idea for later, haha Technically there is still space for the cube to be hidden as well, but this way it just lets me pull out the cube easily for recharging and turning on/off, as I can just pull off the roof. A Sik wouldn't be too bad that way either! But to get the right proportions you'll probably only get a single motor in there, which is fine for a small shunter like that! But for mine, I really wanted the two motors in there as it's also intended as a local freight locomotive And that sounds like it's time to buy another CC box! Haha
-
Thank you! I actually tried to have a small cab interior too, it's there but hidden by the Bluetooth cube-driver, hahaha Geen probleem! I'll write it on a sticky note so I hopefully won't forget, haha 🫣

Thankss! Thank you! It's not as difficult as people sometimes make it look like, haha I'm currently working on a Baureihe 70.0, and if I get to the part with the LED's, I'll make some pictures on how I've done it! No soldering required either. ^^
-
Thank you! Ahhh, that explains why it's mostly next to either refill locations or steps! Didn't know that, the more you know, haha. Thanks! :D

I have it set-up so the rear is always red if the lights are on, because that way I can also have yellow on on both sides, as during shunting we run yellow on both sides in real life So when I'm playing shunting, I just turn on all the yellow lights and they're bright enough to overpower the red ones in that regard so the red isn't visible at all
-
Thank you! Yes it is, I don't know why it's on the locations it is, probably electrical boxes or generators that they placed in those areas, but the prototype has those warnings there, haha Thankssss!! Yeah, making the rods like this is actually one of the reasons I got into 3D printing as well. Especially since none of the options out there gave me exactly what I wanted for a in my opinion reasonable price compared to doing it myself, and the best part is also access to unlimited spares if I break them accidentally 😅 For the LED's it's like Ts_ said below: Thank you! Glad I'm not the only one who finds these small locomotives cute! Haha To be fair, I didn't even solder them either. I just wrapped the red LED around a 10k and the 3 white LED's around a 680 and the legs of the resistors wrapped together too. That allowed me to have use the remaining 2 channels for the front and rear light options, as it can present the same lights in either direction ofcourse.

Thank you!

Hello! I've already posted this on Reddit, but no shame to post it again here, right? I've finally updated and cleaned my Flickr page soooo... Either way, I would like to present my Baureihe 89.8 in Bavarian colour scheme. I tend to find the standard 1925+ colours kinda boring, but these classic dark green, blue, red etc etc tones really speak to me! The model is in roughly 1:48 scale, with some creative liberties here and there. And it's powered by two Circuit Cubes in 1:1 gear ratio. Scale wise it hobbles along at a comfortable and consistent 30 km/h with this. I've designed and 3D printed my own wheels and valve gear, which allowed me to do it with this level of detail and accuracy. Some might find it too detailed, but I think it fits well with the model compared to an otherwise simplistic rod system. A video of it in Motion can be found here, on my Flickr page: It has functional front and rear lights as well! Everything controlled from the Circuit Cube. The stickers are made and printed by Brickstickershop here in the Netherlands. I definitely recommend them, great quality and excellent customer service as well! Feedback and comments for future projects is ofcourse welcome and appreciated!

It's not an SLA ("Resin") printer, I think you mean SLS? They don't even need extra large surface areas, as you can essentially just stack prints on top of each other too. Industrial SLS printers can have massive build volumes. Just imagine how many tiny trains you can stack in even a 30cm³ cube from the simple ones! Only downside is just their massive cost... A simple generic one is already 40k EUR, let alone the industrial ones Lego will be using, won't surprise me if they're already 500k+ EUR a piece. 😅 And that might have, annoyingly, actually made quite a significant impact on the pricing too... So personally, I'd rather have had them omit the printed niche part, and give us a more solid looking locomotive, with perhaps a slightly bigger tender and more accurate boiler? I don't even mind the driving wheels just being 2 bogies too much, fits within the simplistic Lego holiday set approach, but they're just so unbalanced, too much wheel/bogie compared to how little locomotive there is, if that makes sense?
-
Honestly, printing stuff is very satisfying for such specific needs! I use it for all my wheels, so they're correctly sized by scale, and have the detail I want. As well as the whole rod system to have it look good, since with Lego you'd be forced to omit half the rods... 🥲 Only downside I find is that the surface texture sometimes can be kinda "rough" compared to Lego ones when FDM printing, and SLA printers the prototyping phase can be a pain, haha
-
I've been busy with other hobbies as well as a bit of a creative block the last few months sadly :( Maybe I'll find the opportunity to join in, but that's not very likely! Either way, it's nothing to do with Lego in and of itself, just doing other stuff as I recently got into airsoft thanks to a friend! :P

Looks good! Like Fraunces already said, it is very reminiscent of an old Dutch Flat-Bottom! ^^

We have tax over income, as well as tax over the "previous" total balance! @CapOnBOBS Excellent self regulation from the LBSF! It would indeed be a shame if they would have to be fined for tax fraud, the O-IRS is very pleased for sure! 😜

That's a very nice coop! Simple yet very well made! -
Excellent work, thank you! I've send you a message on Discord about one thing I noticed though! ^^
