  1. And there was me thinking it was the Riddler. He wanted to pursue a different construction based career and set up as a carpenter in Blüdhaven where he met Catalina Flores, who scarred him so badly he became Absolutely Nightwing, flamboyant costume and all? I feel there's a very dark part of the story where it's revealed that an as yet untold childhood trauma leaves Absolute Bruce with a very limited vocabulary, his only words now being, "I'm Batman", like Groot but sad.
  2. The Absolute Court are easy to spot in public, because if you greet one of them they'll always reply, "Good morning, and if I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night". This being the Absolute Bruce, it takes him an exhausting amount of time to decipher this tricky code. In fact his almost superhuman detective inability is the reason that he doesn't have an Absolute Alfred anymore.
  3. Indirectly really. It's more the tone of interview, how great is Marvel? I made a Batmobile! Of course we still love DC, we've used it as a testing ground for several new parts. It just seemed like a very easy, safe interview.
  4. Wow, DC CMF gets outed as the Contractual Obligation series. Way to make us feel appreciated, Lego. "Yeah, we'd love to make more DC stuff but honestly, we just don't want to".
  5. Babel, Justice Buster, Zur-En-Arrh, Failsafe. It's almost like one of the smartest people on the planet who is known for his solidarity and attachment issues, also has issues with trust - including himself. It's never over.
  6. Parallels between the Dark Knight and Monty Python's Black Knight are far from coincidental. 'Tis but a scratch...
  7. Joker wouldn't bother with parachutes for it though, because there's no fun in safety features. Batman wouldn't bother with a parachute because it's the quickest way down and someone will scoop him up and carry him really awkwardly to safety. Aren't Brickheadz roughly the same size as the Mario/Luigi digi figs? The reason we don't know what Luigi looks like is because he's a massive man in a regular sized world, controlling his pizza-villain black ops empire from the basement of his restaurant, because he's given up trying to get through the door. His original beef was with the people who work in ergonomic and anthropometric design in Lego City having moved there from the more liberally designed Fabuland, but he needed sustenance and couldn't break the Italian stereotype so started the pizza restaurant as a front. Not only is he behind the Secret Six but his time in Fabuland and his warped mind led him to mastermind Cheetah's Menagerie.
  8. I can't knock his enthusiasm but his tendency to agree with the last YouTube video he saw was exhausting.
  9. In fairness the story might differ but the message is the same. It's quite funny that the original discussion took place in August 2018, I wonder if there's a regular six year cycle.
  10. It's a reference to the character from the A-Team, whose nickname was Howlin' Mad. The joke being Murdock (note spelling) pleading for sanity. It made me chuckle anyway. It's a bit of fun. It has nothing to do with the tired trope of comparing autism with insanity. It's hardly a revelation that a member of the AFoL community is autistic, and I would be taking shots at myself were your accusation true, as well as both of my kids. And really, at nearly 42 years of age I've been called insane, mad, weird, odd, from the wrong planet, etc. enough times by friends for me to get the joke. Having been the person who brought it up in the forum six years ago, I can assure you that it most certainly had wheels and was very much in the MM style, given that everything else on the page was an actual MM that was released. There was even enough speculation about it that my screenshot was posted on Instagram as a leaked image of a potential set. Are you thinking of the Build Your Own Adventure book with John Stewart?
  11. Extra points for being called Murdoch and pleading for sanity. There was one in a kids activity book some years back, but the same book included a load of figures we don't have as well. I don't know what sort of access the creators of those books have to concept art.
  12. They get infected by a Joker venom variant that makes them take on the grin and complexion, but become fuelled by hatred for and determination to kill Batman. In a similar vein to the McFarlane figures, but I'm using the term retroactively here because I consider the Laughing Fish from the story of the same name to be Jokerized, and that was 1978.
  13. That's the one, and since his permanent vacation the lack of regular discussion has spewed out into other subjects. It would seem contrived if One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest didn't already exist.
  14. I am a lifelong fan and enjoy the modern and classic styles. I recently reread Endgame again which has a lot of Bat history and tropes in. However even I was taken back by the scene where the Justice League has been Jokerized and he cracks open the Justice Buster armour. Not the armour, no no, I love the extent of his armory (however the scale of said armory and where it gets housed stretches plausibility. As I've mentioned before I really like the rotisserie in the Batcave in Hush), it was how he took down the unrealistic, laser-eyed bee that took me out of the story for a second. Kryptonite gum stored in the cowl, just in case Supes was too corrupted for the Justice Buster to withstand him. I love it, it's nuts and it's escapism, which amuses me when people demand that their escapism be grounded in reality.
  15. This remains for me the greatest of facepalms for me, what with Batman being so believable. The Justice Amazos would make him pop, bless him.
  16. It was by way of example. And given that most of the sets had larger parts, it's not easy to find a suitable comparison. That picture was tiny and I had to get a lens on it. There were a couple of others but the lighting didn't help. This is a decent theory based on reasonable if presumably accidental evidence, but given the character I can totally see it. W H E R E A R E W E G O I N G W I T H T H I S ?
  17. Scarcity of such sets today aside, if they appeared on our shelves now with the PPP of the latest Batmobile then there would be a fair number of disappointed people out there. Rejigged for the modern market yes, reissued exactly as they were no.
  18. Jam-packed with fun features like flick fire missiles and a super jumper. It will also see the highly anticipated return of the black Batsuit. It'll include a little comic of characters we'll never see in Lego. It's going to look like it was designed for the original Batman theme, but with today's pricing. There'll be more stickers than pieces. Any or all of the above.
  19. @Renny The Spacemanfair shout on the differences. Going back through the issue it looks like Mr Polka-Dot (as he was) was drawn with individual teeth as opposed to the usual single strip to denote pearly whites. When he returned in GCPD his dots were smaller and more uniform in size, but I'm guessing his funding had been slashed as he had resorted to a baseball bat. The polychromatic goggles seems to be a BTBaTB quirk. If I was being picky I would say that the cut of his uniform isn't exactly, well uniform, but that's SA comics for you. Looking at the concept board featured in the book there's Silver Banshee. Dr Double X, Ventriloquist and Scarface, Hush. You also have Calendar Man with a calendar on his head, Hugo Strange with a skirt piece, Kite Man with a beard and boots, Calculator with firefighter breathing apparatus on his head, and a crowned Condiment King. Damn I forgot how good some of the rendering was in that film.
  20. My personal favourite is Guy's look, but I think I can speak on behalf of many and say that CBR are so wide of the mark on so many things. His figure is pretty ahem, spot on for his first appearance. It's one of my favourite covers and the fig is great. When I saw that they considered Doctor Double X I was gutted, as he comes close behind PDM for me. This then leads me to the rotisserie in the Batcave. Shades of Hush. Need a Hush figure too.
  21. You missed the second Nicholson Joker. Having said that the first one was bad enough as well. Farewell Turtle, stay lucky you nut. I have finished Caped Crusader and have reached the following conclusions: Having seen what the inspiration was, I get what they were going for and like it. I admire the decision they made with Alfred. I really like where they went with Harley. They've pulled the trigger too soon with Two-Face (yes I'm aware of my choice of words) Firebug episode hit hard. They've cranked up the corruption of the GCPD, and the lengths they will go to. The Leslie Thompkins child labour factory came out of nowhere but a interesting/funny way to go. Dialling back on Batman's reliance on gadgets, along with making him capable of mistakes is a good thing to try. The inspiration for Lois Lane was a touch of genius. Onomatopoeia came across as a nutcase you wouldn't want to cross and I'm here for it. They did Deadshot dirty. Overall I'd be pleased to see more.
  22. That's completely irrelevant given that it's a different character entirely. Post Bab's introduction they appeared concurrently anyway - not necessarily in the same book (although they have both appeared in the same title on more than one occasion), but certainly in the same continuity. I missed this part. I mean it is a list of fictional characters to begin with. The idea that the original creator chose an unrealistic hair colour doesn't mean that it doesn't count.
  23. Having been the first to mention the former statement, I can honestly say that I've never voiced an opinion on the latter. I'd be with TDK but I'd be thinking about Peacemaker.
  24. Yep, and that was the second director and they are on the third and fourth writers. Screams confidence.
  25. I've watched the first three now, and while I'm cool with a female Penguin and enjoyed the episode I don't think that the voice matched the character. Clayface episode was great, as was the character. The fallen socialite for Selina worked very well with the character they've given her. I would like to see her car realised in brick form. The Batmobile is low key, and reminds me of a hybrid of B:TAS and the Pattinson versions. I still find Alfred being referred to as Pennyworth jarring.
