  1. Watch this video Amazing what a bunch of plastic bricks can do!
  2. you could swap in double thick 20 tooth then, they fit in the same space
  3. Try this, it uses 4 knob gears for max strength. edit: the images show up in editor but won't show in the actual post?
  4. I dont know why people are disappointed sure it may not have all the features you want but we are guaranteed 2 new motors plus whatever else lego surprises us with. But the biggest part is Legos recognition of motorized vehicles with wheels! This opens the door to new and exciting vehicles next year and the year after which will use gearboxes and everything else we could dream of. If this works and doesn't have an epic PR relations disaster that is...
  5. why not use larger wheels? that way you can get alot more speed for the same rpm
  6. This is like the 8880 supercar, it was revolutionary for the time but we are spoiled by todays standards *looks to the unimog* and these sets are now "antiquated" it doesn't mean its not a superb set it just can't keep up with the new waves of lego technic coming out
  7. The new Unimog portal axle parts, are they able to be retrofitted with the new female cvt joint in the block with the old male cvt joints connecting them to the differential?
  8. in the portal axle blocks, so youd need 4 24 tooth and 4 8 tooth gears for each of the portal blocks
  9. hmm how would you get around the cabin having to lift up and the steering wheel remaining in sync with the system?
  10. I think the best and most possible creation to get the green light from lego would be one of Jurgens technic cars. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44299 no only does it not make extravagant use of parts (the count is somewhere around 770) it is also fully remote control which will do well with all sectors of lego fans it is not some behemoth axle twisting trial truck and does not model a real vehicle so there should be no legal issues therefore i think this is the set we should vote for (if there is some problem with the use of the old discontinued rc buggy motors he made a pf motor version as well, gotta find that link )
  11. i think they should make a new airtank studless style with connections like the old technic figure seats, studs bottom holes on the side. the airtank would have a rubber balloon like a water gun which wouldnt expand until you reach a certain pressure and once the air reaches that mark the balloon expands inside the plasic shell slowly, so this way they can make the plastic as cheap as they like because its just the rubber inside that matters and it will also not give less pressure as the balloon will decrease in size therefore compensating for when you use the air.
  12. wow this is quite good, one question is it a cvt? it looks like some automatic transmissions ive seen
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbS27qDb2eE&feature=related the first and last transmission designs are both cvts alas the first works the best but obviously is super parts intensive, the last is an intresting design but a bit impractical
  14. this is insane, just think how much that would cost! this looks great so far just trim the excess but it looks good so far, one issue, how will the power get to the top like power needs to come from the top of the structure if i remember correctly also how will it get steered? but what you have so far is great
  15. great looking truck to bad it seems the rear axle gets torqued alot so it twists and doesnt keep full contact with the ground, nevertheless still a great design btw what is your gearbox design?
  16. wow thats insane, i cant believe how the technic can even support itself anymore wow i thought it was gonna be a crawler crane to bad haha that would have been amazing!
  17. wow those wheels are great haha btw did you use a differential? because it really seems to slow down when turning. edit: cant believe i didnt see dluders pictures yeah you didnt use one
  18. wow this is really good you have made a very good digimon character as well haha, though unfortunantely it seems you can only fire by tilting the it up no independentley but still very good!
  19. woah thats awesome, just one issue, it seems the first pair of cylinders connected with 3L half beams doesnt want to stay together, maybe you could use the special part from 8421 that attaches 2 cylinders securely (sorry dont know part number right now) Edit: sooo many pneumatic cylinders btw what is that chain part for on the gripper part? sorry i dont know what else to call it maybe a hand lol
  20. much better than the first but it seems the wheel that gets attached is only supported by 1 hole on the end of the suspesnion beam and under the circumstances with such a huge model its going to be very heavy and the axle attacked to the wheel will sag/bend you should try to make the whole "bottom" part of the construction move everything that is the diffcase should move and power would be transmitted by bevel gears even when the suspension tilts
  21. they did it for the front because when steering at max compression of the suspension it would rub due to the panhard rod forcing an arc motion of the suspension, with the half stud offset it aligns perfectly at max compression and therefore doesnt rub when steered since the rear axle doesnt steer i guess they didnt need to and chose the regular piece to save abs maybe
  22. hmmm under such a heavy weight that unsupported t piece will probably create alot of friction
  23. darn you dluders always providing information when people need it, i couldve gotten that set cheap if you didnt advertise on eurobricks
  24. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/cvt-17.gif&imgrefurl=http://auto.howstuffworks.com/cvt3.htm&h=300&w=400&sz=329&tbnid=rgmT-xjF1FbwYM:&tbnh=93&tbnw=124&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dtoroidal%2Bcvt%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=toroidal+cvt&usg=__SPso7zoyu9C8OjzwmcJzYPRTJxI=&sa=X&ei=SroXTrTqCM7egQe99pQW&ved=0CCMQ9QEwAQ is something like this possible? it certainly seems the most able of the designs, unless someone can figure out a ratcheting cvt
  25. what might that white rubberband be for?
