  1. Related discussion: TLG Ban Custom Minifig Printing. Scientific laboratory analysis of the Minifigure paint? Then sell them (on Craigslist, not Bricklink ). Wasn't too long ago that some were completely distraught and inconsolable at TLG's announcement to acquire Bricklink. The more rational individuals however posited that ownership would simply allow for better control of the brand by prohibiting counterfeits, fakes and knockoffs from being sold on the site, just like this (as well as access to potentially lucrative user transaction data). Now they're cracking down on counterfeits, precisely as predicted, but consequentially has some doubting prior purchases as being tainted by the notion that they might not have genuine Lego paint. Guess the only consolation that they're taking action to put an end to non-genuine Lego on Bricklink. Probably not the answer you want to hear but only getting sealed original packaging items is the surest way to know. Edit: which makes the Lego "speculators" very happy.
  2. The easiest way to do this is to keep track of what sets you own and use that to determine what pieces you have. You can do this on Brickset.com for example. Then you can look up any specific piece and see if you have it and how many via all the sets you've purchased. Say you need thirteen 1x3 bricks in yellow for what you're building and you've already found 12. You want to know whether to keep searching your big bins for one more. Look up that piece and see if through all the sets you own you actually have 13. Saves a lot of time especially in searching for a piece you might not have or motivating you to find that last one.
  3. Dang what the heck. As if feeling for the minifigures didn't already look ridiculous enough that guy is like "hold my drug scale".
  4. This is one of the most absurd MOCs I've ever seen and that puts it into a category of greatness few will ever explore. Absolutely hilarious, it's incredible.
  5. ITS GLORIOUS. I want to build that right now. This is the only way most of us will ever get Lego goat.
  6. Lucky. I think they should implement that as a business strategy. Every 500 sets they box up just toss in a random bag of parts, from a completely different set even. Would be fun.
  7. Unlikely that a ban on plastic children's toys would occur before a prohibition of new production internal combustion engines which already have proposed phase out dates in several nations (unlike toys) but don't take effect until well into the 2030s. Regardless the fate of some toy company will be irrelevant when the Earth is ridding itself of the creatures responsible for its destruction. Happy Thursday y'all!
  8. Realize this is late but I dug out my old Ninja figures (the castle subtheme 1998-2000, pre-ninjago), the old dark grey and black and they have either a 2 or a 3 molded where the head-stud seats. They don't have any of the listed part numbers on them but I know these are genuine Lego since I'm the 'original owner'. So I'd say yours are genuine Lego.
  9. Fully flesh Batman is the best Batman. Those skin-covered bat ears.
  10. LOL it's not going to work at all because Lego is literally the world's largest manufacturer of tires every year! For 2021 at least 140 sets had wheels! Try doing sets that don't have any pieces in medium stone grey, now that's a restriction.
  11. Fantastic recreation. Excellent engineering on that custom piece; it would be very cool to see MOCer designed pieces be produced. And your attention to detail regarding the color palette and official printing limitations is impressive. Wonderful MOC.
  12. Absolutely nailed it! Amazing work in the difficulty that is micro scale. Awesome.
  13. This is really cool and a great display piece. Builds like this truly push the envelope of what Lego can be. Amazing work!
  14. That ship is amazing. Also love the use of the 1x3 arches for fort foundation and use of off-grid angles. This is classic pirates done perfect with new pieces and techniques. Fantastic.
  15. Over the past few years just about every niche set like this has caused at least a couple people to discharge a tirade of posts, deride the designers, opine about the imminent demise of Lego with regards to their perceived moral obligations and business failings, claim they're being forced towards competitor's products and grumble about how back in their day everything was better. So they're going to do all of that. The set will sell and the fans of whatever subject matter in question will be happy. Yet a small but uproarious segment will grouch repeatedly about how that set means they're not getting what they want, that TLG never listens to them and very soon (any day now) Lego will be no more.
  16. "If your Product Idea reaches 10,000 supporters and is chosen to be made into an official LEGO product, you will receive: 1% of the total net sales of the product (this includes product ideas featuring original models based on third-party intellectual property such as a game, TV show, or movie). All payments shall be free and clear of any and all taxes, duties, levies, fees or other charges, except for withholding Danish taxes." I hope they never have to work another day in their life because of what you said.
  17. And the fact that EB isn't a gigantic multinational data mining corporation who's primary goal is to turn users into commodities in order to sell advertising and driving engagement by intentionally sowing division and animosity while simultaneously eroding liberty and democracy around the world. FoLlOw Me On InStAgRaM.
  18. Yeah according to the terms Ideas owns the rights to all submissions for 3 years. Under the portion regarding submissions not-selected in review regarding distribution of instructions it specifically says that one may not sell instructions; which in a previous discussion on the subject led some to believe that free/non-monetary distribution of non-approved Ideas instructions may be ok before the 3-years is reached but there was never any legal clarity and the Idea creator in question understandably didn't want to risk breach of the terms.
  19. Teri, if they don't turn this place into all those other places then everyone will leave this place for all those other places. Edit: in case it wasn't clear; this is satirical.
  20. I agree completely. The old stuff is cool to see from a historic perspective of where all of this started but that's about it. The incessant nostalgia from many AFOL stems from something in the mind that cannot be satisfied. Even if they got what they wanted it will never be the same as it was as a recollection. The longing will remain. Lego could give them a perfect recreation of all the old that they're ceaselessly posting that they want and it wouldn't change a thing. They will simply never feel fulfilled chasing the sentimentality for the past.
  21. Thanks Deutsch friend! I too am fond of repairing my own stuff, but I do grumble because they broke in the first place thus ruining my plans... of spending the evening not fixing broken junk
  22. That is brilliant! find wealthy single partner who loves Lego dolphin ask them to purchase dolphin Lego sets they get dolphins, i get non-dolphin pieces Me, later that night:
  23. New from the Lego 'i want realism' collection. Tract housing. Suburban sprawl. Cookie cutter neighborhoods. NIMBY land.
