[WIP] Dodge Monaco
nick97 replied to nick97's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hey all, here is some progress Starting with a video: A few pictures: What has been done: All lights are installed and work via a second SBrick. Front and rear are almost complete, only need to fill some gaps in the bodywork. Some changes: Gearbox got new gears. It is now 3:1 and 1.66:1 (was 1.66:1 and 1:1) Drive is now done by two L motors. Front wheels have both two yellow hard springs. Rear axle got also two yellow hard springs on both sides. To do: Filling the gaps in the bodywork. Building the roof of the car. Building the interior of the car. A video of the suspension is in my BrickSafe folder: http://bricksafe.com/pages/nick97/dodge-monaco Thanks for reading, comments are welcome. -
Just voted and saved it as it should

Didn't work for me. After voting it said 'thank you', but it didn't save it. I used Microsoft Edge on Windows 10

[WIP] Dodge Monaco
nick97 replied to nick97's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I used sariel's scaling tool, where I used the wheels to scale it. There I used 8 studs for the wheels, but in fact they are a bit smaller. And this is actually my first project, so I wanted full numbers to make it a bit easier Dark blue is the only color in my collection with 3x11 panels to make the whole bodywork. And I think you can guess which set they come from -

The bluesmobile is the reason I build one a few years ago, also only bodywork. And now with more experience and parts I try it again. I'm also using a blueprint of the police car for building. But I don't have many panels in black, so I use dark blue. -

Hey, here is some progress: The front suspension got an extra spring, as one wasn't strong enough to hold the car. This is how the exterior looks like at the moment. All doors are openable And a better picture of the rear suspension: For more pictures, use the link in the first post -

The rear suspension is based on the rear suspension of the Mercedes Arocs. The fake leaf springs actually keep the axle in place. I think I make a video of the functions. Then you can see the suspension work. -

I'm not sure if someone mentioned it before. The 2H sets are online in the lego shop, language set to united states: here -
Hey all, currently I am building a '74 Dodge Monaco. I've build one almost two years ago, but that one wasn't really nice to me. I also made a smaller one, which has been on ideas. The car is controlled using one S-Brick unit for steering, driving and shifting first/second gear. Functions: Steering using a servo Driving with two m-motors 2-speed gearbox, shifted using one m-motor Opening doors V8 driven by two m-motor Independent front suspension, rear fake leaf springs Pictures: These are my fake leaf springs. Will make a better picture I already started building the exterior of the car and found that it was to short. It was 6 studs shorter then it should be. Rear doors are already openable. This is what the car looks like at the moment. The next step is to complete the exterior and make the interior. I also want to put on all the lights, but I need to order an extra S-Brick and some lights. Hope you like it, comments are welcome. [MOC] Mini Claas Xerion
nick97 replied to nick97's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hey all, Finally I found some time to share the LDD file. It's in my bricksafe folder: http://bricksafe.com/pages/nick97/mini-claas-xerion I tried to make it in the original colors in LDD, but I can't get it to look nice. Maybe someone else can try it? Tell me what you think of it. I'm currently building something else, WIP will come soon. When I finished it, than I will build the slurry tank for this tractor. -
Technic 2017 Set Discussion
nick97 replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've been reading the description of 42070 a few times and I think 'moveable lights' should be 'moving pistons'. That makes sense to the rest of the text. -
Congratulations to the winnners and to all the participants. It was a great contest with lots of great entries. Well done everybody!

[MOC] Mini Claas Xerion
nick97 replied to nick97's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I haven't tried to replace front and back as it is just standing on a shelf as a show model. Not for playing with it. I do want to break it down and start over on my own as I need to make some changes for some implement ideas, but that comes later. And than I think I build a 3800 instead of a 5000 -

I read Jim's review when the set came out and I read it yesterday. The problem I have wasn't discribed. Hopefully the next picture shows a bit of the problem. When the wheels are turned and I drive the model backwards, than the front wheels hit the part in the green circle almost every time and most of the time also the part in the yellow circle. And it also happens more with the right wheel than with the left wheel. -

The claas itself is almost completely build. I only need to change some colors. This model is about half the size (l x w x h) than set 42054, but I didn't said my model is a xerion 5000 like 42054. And if you look to the front lights it does look more like a 3800 than a 5000. And beside that I took these tires as they were the best for this scale. Smaller tires have more rim than tyre and the slightly bigger balloon tires were hitting the frame when turning. That is actually quite easy. If you have 42054 than just put the Unimog tires on it. They fit perfectly. It even drives better, as in my case the tractor tires hit the frame somewhere when turning. -

Thanks for the nice reactions so far Here is the picture that hopefully shows a bit of the turning system in de cabin. The two blue axles under the cabin 'lock' in the two of the three pinholes. One set in frontposition and one set in backposition. And for turning the cab, you first need to lift the cabin to 'unlock' it. These look indeed like communal tires, but how about these: I started in LDD in de Original colors, but there are some parts not excisting in the right colors yet so I can't build it in real life that way. But for comparison I can do that after I have rebuild some errors. -

Thanks for the replies I stick to black first, as most of the parts appear in black. After that I will try to make it in the original colors. The cabin is turned by hand. First lift the cabin, than turn it and lower it when it is turned. I can try to post some detailed pictures of it tomorrow. -
Hey all, here is something I've been working on. Its a mini Claas Xerion, black edition. Length, width and height are about half the size of set 42054. It started with an idea for turning the cab, as I want to put almost the same systeem in my bigger Xerion. (It isn't complete as I'm missing a few parts.) Building the steering systeem to get 4 wheel steering has taken the most time. Turning of the cabin. I'm also building an implement for the Xerion, which I also want to build for the bigger Xerion. It's a slurry tank based on the Kaweco swan neck tridem. some more pics: http://bricksafe.com/pages/nick97/mini-claas-xerion# I hope you like it. Any comments are welcome

8. Name: Fire Fighter Cat. B PF IR Signature move: 4 rotating blades especially for ripping of tyres. The bot drives on tracks, so it has to be very maneuverable. It is powered by two m-motors, one per track. As it turned out to be very heavy, these motors struggle driving one track in reverse. The 4 blades are powered by one m-motor. The yellow part on the bot is a defending mechanism for attacks from above. This one is powered by two m-motors, both LA's have their own motor. For battles at the end of the day, the bot has some lights. pictures: Video: Discussion topic

[TC11] Fire Fighter
nick97 replied to nick97's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hey all, Here is finally some progress as I finally had some time last week to build. The yellow part is part of my special move, but it isn't finished yet. After that I need some finetuning to make it look a bit better. A picture of my controller can be found here: http://bricksafe.com/pages/nick97/tc11 Hope you like it -

Looks great I like that it drives at both sides, so the trick to win is getting it on his head -

[TC11] Fire Fighter
nick97 posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hey all, I present to you my TC11 entry in progress It is called Fire Fighter because it has fire stickers on it It has tracks for easy drive and steering The blades at the side are for defend and as weapon. (I won't tell my signature move as it isn't build yet.) This vehicle is 45 studs long, 29 studs wide(without blades) and about 16 studs high. As for the discussion about the size, I find my vehicle quite big. So 45x45x45 is big enough to me -
