  1. hm...this new Milsbo line is quite interesting...the problem with the high vitrine though is it's only 37 cm deep..many UCS sets wouldn't fit there I'm afraid. Altough the TIE for example is only 31cm, on the stand it doesn't fit because of the tilt... I could barely fit it in the Fabrikör, which is 42 cm.
  2. Ah, I wasn't aware of that...well in this case yes, that sounds like defensive measures. Lego still has the BrickHeadz (which I can't say enough how I loathe...), so I guess that's enough for them for now. I don't think CMF-s would cannibalize anything in their line, there are enough obscure characters/outfits that probably wouldn't clash with minifigs in sets in a million years.
  3. Well the only thing Disney likes more than it's money is earning more money, and Hasbro probably realizes that none of their n+10000 figurine lines would actually clash with Lego minifigs. (Or at least as far as I'm aware they don't make anything in this category)
  4. Plus, Disney so far could only really cash in on material that is - one way or another - somehow connected to Vader. So I expect the Vader myth to expand, and obscure characters from his vicinity popping up here and there...
  5. I would imagine it's not entirely TLG's decision what to make into a set. I guess they asked Lucasfilm: we could put out a surprise set for the holidays, what do you want to promote? And then Lucasfilm was like:"well heck, dunno, we don't have anything significant coming out in the next 1 year (except for the animated series but who knows how that will go down), so I guess...Vader's Castle from the VR game?"
  6. Well it's pretty much a "certain point of view" situation, quite literally. This pic for example matches the pose of this, but yes, it's a bit more chubby, and just 2 "spheres". But if you look at it like a buffed, sitting Porg, it looks ok.
  7. Might be "nothing fancy", but this is a darn great model good sir! (As per usual)
  8. They are clearly promoting the Vader theme heavily with this, (with the VR project coming and all) which is all fine but yes, a RO-themed minifig-selection/ vehicle (think a small size version of Krennic's shuttle + Krennic and the creepy servant guy from the movie maybe) would've been nicer. BTW is this the same TIE Advanced as in the DS sets?
  9. You do have a point there, but I'm not sure a separate topic for each set would make it much better in the long run. 1 year and we'd have more topics than we could follow. Perhaps separate threads for different type of sets (UCS, MBS, normal system sets) would be better, but not really my place to say.
  10. Does this really warrant it's own thread? I mean the general 2018 discussion is full of it right now anyway. Or are we making separate topics for every set now?
  11. I am more infuriated with the price compared to other countries, every set is more expensive here then anywhere else in Europe or America. Which is baffling taking the low VAT-rates into account. But anyway, I only buy sets directly from Lego when I absolutely have to, otherwise you can always find them much cheaper somewhere else. It's worth better to go to Germany, and I can even get the VAT back from there.
  12. Mother.... I tohught my morning would start well, just seeing this as I woke up in the morning...until I saw the price on my local S@H...170 CHF what the hel is wrong with these people...it's more expensive than the sandcrawler which has almost 200 more pieces...seriously... Now TRU is my only hope, although not many retailers would sell it for this price, just as the porg is already discounted to a more realistic rice point in every proper shop...
  13. This is really nice, on top of that, with that little display and minifig on the side, this would be a great collectible line for TLG. Realistic mini-sets with a minifig, how much cooler is that than the microfighters
  14. Well that's pretty freaking awesome, (although this much black is a lot to take in). (Quick sidenote for the video: you might want to scale back on the intro, the brick-built part is cute, but 25 seconds of intro in a 2 minute video...)
  15. I think I've seen a thread like this once...problem is, they are usually abandoned for some time, and no one is taking the time to search for them, just opening a new one...unfortunately, this forum engine is quite rudimentary, it's a pain to search for something (or to post photos for that matter, but hey, it's free)
  16. Aw man, this is so cool, I wish I had the real estate for a diorama like this...
  17. I mean, if you'd make the canopy really nicely, it would actually be one of the best looking TIE-s out there :D The colour scheme makes it very Poe Dameron-y
  18. Looking good so far, but the front canopy part has to be..well, rounder. It looks to me as if the bottom "handle" part, (or whaddayacallit) might be a few studs longer than it should be, no?
  19. Yes, the Slave-I is indeed awesome, I have it (my father has it...) too, I only ever saw the Snowspeeder assembled live once or twice but I quite like it. I'm not that bothered about scale since the other sets are all over the place too anyway. In any case, it's even sold out in TRU here...
  20. The set is not for me, but I like the review, especially that you don't have many in-progress pics, like others, that kinda counts to me as spoilers for the set. When I buy something, one thing I buy it for is the build experience, so kudos for this. This whole new MBS line - retrospectively applying the name to other sets - is I think not going to be a very good seller with AFOL's, especially if it looks like this one, or the Hoth one. We've been waiting for a set of CC so long, I don't think this is what most of us had in mind. Honestly I think the vehicles are ugly/ the wrong color, and the whole thing just look like some kid slapped it together. Many talented MOC-ers here could do something infinitely better even with this piece count I think. But then again, this is a playset, so not really aimed at AFOLS. (Although I'm not sure I would buy my kid a set this expensive)
  21. Well, unfortunately I haven't seen the discounts around here...well I was going to "suprise myself" with it for this Christmas anyway... I just hope that if the sales are indeed low, and god forbid the Y-wing doesn't sell as well either, they don't come to the wrong conclusions that they need to focus more on the "master builder" line rather than "classic" display UCS sets...would be a shame.
  22. Umm..I don't know if anyone noticed this, but the UCS snowspeeder is listed as "retiring soon" on my S@H...is that not overly soon? Meanwhile, the Slave-I is still on stock, without any sign of retirement... How about saving the environment?
  23. I don't get all the hate towards this set - and the porgs in general (let's face it, we've seen worse in a SW movie.) I like this new line they started with BB-8, I bought that, and I'll probably buy this one too, good for display. As for the source material: I think they're half as annoying as either the ewoks, or the gungans. At least they didn't have a crucial role in defeating a technologically infinitely more advanced army...small comic relief, and an ingenious way to monetize a production challenge. @kaelthas - way off, but my OCD just can't take those huge bubbles under the sticker, you gotta fix that, man
  24. How can you say that???!!! So compelling and well fleshed-out characters!!! The most amazing story since....FOReVER - OK sorry, I'll stop Off-ing...but hey, so cool looking new troopers, they have stripes! and logos! on their armor! Is it really that viable that they're releasing another Slave-I? There is one in Betrayal of cloud city too after all, although yes I know, not system scale. But I guess more viable then yet ANOTHER snowspeeder, after the recent UCS version, plus the sand-color one they just did, which was basically the old one with fins... Unfortunately though, the new movies don't give that much material either, I already fear the day when they start releasing sets based on the new Resistance series....those are some uninspired designs....
  25. The problem with that, is that it's not closed. From the way OP formulated the question I assume he's looking for closed solutions, which is exactly case (no pun intended) in which I found myself lately. I settled for a Fabrikör from IKEA, because the other one I have from there (Detolf) is also too small for UCS sets. Now I have the 2-door version of the former, which is not as tall as I wanted, but at least the shelves you can set as high as you want, and it fits a UCS TIE and the Slave-I nicely. One downside though is that there the doors have quite a wide border, which blocks visibility, but rather this, than letting them collect dust for another year until I find something more viable. Also the price is OK, for a mostly glass piece of furniture.
