  1. Definitely Southern Deserts for me!
  2. Si-MOCs

    Canadian Eh?

Take it to the story anyways - last I heard they still had some, you might get lucky!
  3. How much were they?
  4. Si-MOCs

    Xenomorph

Fantastic movies! and fantastic build. I kinda like the round 1x1 round. it makes it slightly more like their teeth.
  5. Wow! Did you draw this? YOu have a great eye and I think you did a fantastic job with this!
  6. Or perhaps instead of having your own land... the Black Guild will be a fifth faction that builds little hideouts/strongholds in each of the 4 areas... It could very well be one of the hardest guilds to be in - as you'd want to replicate what the each guild is doing- so it 'fits' into each realm their setting up - while keeping it black ;) very exciting! Edit - or perhaps the The Black Guild (for lack of better name at the moment) is actually made up of someone in the Guild that they are squating in. EG if I'm in the Lion-Dor Guild - and I get slightly bored of building 'stock' Lion-Dor buildings, I hop over to the Dark side and build a little Black smuggling post in my realm. In essence everyone can be in the 5th Guild.
  7. I think that's a great idea - and one that we can replicate and rework every cycle. Formation of guild - and set up and build up each guild - or Realm - new backstories, new idea, new flags - it'll be jolly good fun. It'd almost be like a group CCC contest. Though this can be done generically - like current proposals - or maybe at one cycle we can do sign up* for particular LEGO themes (as there seems to be some interest there) and do the same thing! *though this would likely result in pretty uneven guild distributions in terms of numbers - it might be an interesting experiment as the smaller and 'less popular' guilds might have the advantage of small closer nit group of motivated builders to take down the big guilds :D That's mighty generous of you Thrash, I think this will be already tons of fun, so additional of some prizes would make it funner (yes I know it's not a real word)!
  8. I'm speechless.
  9. Definitely got the right shape there! Brings back memories of show :) But I agree with with Oky - it could be a bit more smooth with slopes. Don't forget to enter the Batman Contests - I think this could be entered into Cat 1 or the Fig raffle! edit: also great photoshop work! I like how added all the descriptive text!
  10. Your photography is getting better! the reverse hinges on the legs are nicely done. The 1x1 does make a good cockpit - but sometimes Tans Clear isn't the greatest colour - as it's not as easy to 'tell' it's a cockpit - maybe yellow or dk blue?
  11. For those that were interested: End credits: LEGO Fun time: I'm pretty impressed that Sheldon doesn't need instructions.
  12. Wow! Great ideas! Thanks for sharing
  13. M.ak or Homeworld - it doesn't matter how you classify it, except that it's AWESOME. Well done. Fantastic use of angles and colour blocking.
  14. While I liked the first backstory. the backstory on the backstory was even better. Nice job and welcome back! :)
  15. "There must be some kind of way out of here," Said the joker to the thief, "There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief. While watch tower would be good ... I kinda like that idea as say a new travellers entering a guilds territory the first thing they may see might be Watch Towers on the borders... It is good analogy on our new endeavour. Though another first build idea - abet unconventional - is to build a guild crest. Something that can be used to represent the guild for the purposes of this cycle. Edit - Perhaps we should put an update on first page recapping some of the discussions? - It was pointed out in the sign up thread that 9 pages is a bit much to go through... apparently someone people prefer to build opposed to parsing through collaborative thought process Something along the lines of: ISC has decided to start a group project - to build a micro map of the EB Castle world which can be used to plot various projects as they come along - details to follow. There have been discussions of creating Guilds or Grouping of builders for a (likely) set period of time. There is a sign up thread for those wishing to participate. While it hasn't been defined exactly how the guilds will function - the general idea is that each guild will work together to produce MOCs and stories - these creations in turn generate points for each guild - with the guild with the highest number of points at a future date be awarded bragging rights (and maybe other fun stuff) for being kick megablocks. It was discussed if each guild should be focused on certain themes or all guilds will cover all themes. The latter seems to be the approach that was best liked. Challenges will likely be issued where all guilds must mobilize and build some theme - (see Siren's Post for possible themes). The exact mechanics has not really been determined - but people seem to like the idea to shift around the themes a bit to ensure that we pick up not just castle but ensure other historical themes are given their due - Western, Asian, Antiquities etc - This also serves as flexing our building skills. Everything is still up for debate - so please add to the discussion
  16. I'm pretty sure all is welcome - so if you're interested or want to be a guild cheerleader on the sidelines - sign up!
  17. Well since I already built a 'similar' home to one already posted - can I enter it instead to the Raffle Draw (or is that really more a question for Hinckley?)
  18. Si-Mocs transformed, and ready to roll out.
  19. Very nice build. I'm super impressed you build that so quickly - the crumbled wall is very nicely done. Fantastic build
  20. If that is what doth Lord moderator asks of me, then I shall obey. But gravest of warnings.... as an Engineer - I have horrible simple math skills. We seem to be moving to a consensus - or at least towards a fuzzy idea of the final picture... Perhaps it is time to do a proof of concept? or a dry run? Given that it's CCC season - and I'm assuming a few of us are planning on partaking - why not create CCC guilds? Points can be allocated based on final finishing positions - perhaps as simple as 4-3-2-1 for 1st/2nd/3rd/honourable mentions. This also may serve as a positive peer pressure for people to enter and build better - how many times have we heard "well I had this idea" or "I started this and that but..." perhaps if we people were in the guild it may push people SLIGHTLY more to get a better entry or finish on time. Not to mention if we set up some sort of WIP sharing pool between the guilds - it might also reinforce guild comradely and some in-guild egging on to boast up builder's spirits when the build (as always) isn't going well. This will also give us roughly 2 months to nail down the final details via polls and such so that we can kick off in new year?
  21. I would think this would be a bit inevitable (I actually am in the same situation) but given that there are only 16 unique characters, it would be hard not to have some overlap given that (I'm assuming) we're going to have more than 16 entries in the Category Home directory. Though I'll wait for an official ruling.
  22. Great build! I look forward to seeing more /hops over to flickr
  23. 50 points Lion-dor! Given by ISC in the Historic Stimulus Package Thread - I "awarded" 50 points to Blue&White's non existent guild for his idea to award points to yet to determined guilds.
  24. First off. :O TWENTY FEET BY TWENTY FEET? that's like bigger than my condo. Back to matter at hand - You bring an excellent point. We are very Castle focused - but I think that there are ways to introduce a bit more variation into it - much like the spaghetti western injected some great builds - if we move towards the 4 MegaGuilds and rorating competition - there's nothing to be said that we can't have a "Asian" month or a "Western" month - thus focusing the community into a seldomly highlighted theme. Plus it'd flex our building muscle and get us out of our comfort zones. Awards points and the tracking of said points - that'd have to be a mod&company decision - it can be a lot of work and it'd be up to them if they want to take it on - as well they'd have to be impartial which may mean they won't be in a guild.... or in a pointless guild (as in lack of points ) it really depends on how we want to do the points - it could be a simple as awarded for competitions - 100/75/50/25 points each and only need to be tallied a few times a year. or as onerous as mods randomly giving out points for good behaviour or clever puns. If we are going to have a dedicated Theme month(s) - I would think "Custom" month would also be a good one to consider - that way we can make sure our minifig customizers and such have a place in our new world too ;) ... I *NEVER* joke about Harry Potter. But yes. you won me over - dispute the fun that could be had to be a "Dragon Knight" guild - I could easily see how that could splinter the group. While I don't visit the pirate forum often - I can see how that's problematic. So tying in the logical thought process of Taz and Blue ... Perhaps a way to combat this is to reset the guilds after a set period? redraft or rebuild periodically - thus no one is too invested or stuck in a particular guild - it also gives builders opportunities to work with other builders maybe even in our own guild club houses (whiteboards?) Which begs the question - how ARE we forming these guilds? I assume draft - but there could be other methods - like rankings (if we have individual point totals by builder) or round robin (so everyone eventually works with everyone) etc etc.
  25. Oh I definitely agree - I debated this in my mind a bit - which is why I liked the idea of something like 2-3 month challenge cycles focusing on say a particular Theme would be great (Be it official LEGO themes or say the 4 rough areas that Siren drafted up) - and have the entire group/sub groups competing to flush out that Theme would provide some great builds - as well as flushing out our EB History backstory (and we do need back stories, one of my favourite parts of the Historical genre is that people spend more time on their story. But on the flip side - there may be people that WANT to be pigeon holed into a particular theme. For instance there could be some builders that love the Skeletons or Orcs etc- if we build through each lego theme they'd be kinda left behind for months till they get to do what they were really interests in. Though I guess at some point we have to realize that we can't please everyone - and that we should try to do something that most people would enjoy... which is essentially the reason for this thread... to ask the group - what do you want to do?
