Heroica RPG - Quest #49: The Light That Reveals Everything
Scorpiox replied to Etzel's topic in The Heroica Archive
Haldor claps Cronk on the back cheerfully, as they walked back toward the buildings. "You sure showed him, mate, funny how he seems to act so much more courteous once you've proven that you're more than a match to any like his lot. We should go and take a rest and a long draught of ale, you've earned it." -

Okay, I'll have to go through this bit by bit. 1. Here, you are making a feeble attempt at trying to incriminate Isaac. Stage one flailing. 2. Here, you start to insult the others and whine about other players. Stage two flailing. 3. Some more blame-passing and accusations against Isaac, in any effort to save your skin. Oh, the biggest scumtell I have seen this entire game would have to be you right now. Stage three flailing. 4. A tad more insulting for good measure, plus another accusation, you reall aren't doing yourself any favours right now. At this point, you've pretty much confirmed your guilt. Stage four flailing. 5. Unnecessary language, and some other bollocks. Thanks for being such an easy read for me, I love it when scum open up like this. Stage five flailing. Your reaction is far over the top for any reliable good guy, so it is quite clear now what your alliegence really is. Oh, and giving up like this is also a huge scumtell, there is no real reason why a townie wouldn't try and fight till the end. And your little extra insult there at the end is the icing on the cake, scumbo. The only thing left for you to flail now would be to pop up and name some random person as your godfather, so why don't you do that? I'm going to nail your scummy little coffin here and now. Say hi to your Mafia buddies from me! Vote: Adam (badboytje88) -

"Cronk, smack that bastard!" Haldor leant on the edge of the ring, eyeing up the training master irritantly. -
I wouldn't do that if I were you, I'm pretty sure now that doing that will just make you permantly immune to the Lucky effect.

Haldor laughed menacingly. "So, it seems that there are many more like our friend the cleric in your noble order. Y'know, I'd like nothing better than to kick you about a bit right now, so count me in on this little sparring match." -

A fair point you raise there, Kendra. Who exactly are these quieter people you'd like to speak up? You have to name names or else nobody will be able to respond to you. Please, share your suspicions, or are you just talking any old rubbish to avoid being noticed? -

So you admit trying to divert attention away from yourself? What would any innocent member of the establishment want to divert attention away from themself for, if they have nothing to hide? Why not try disproving some accusations for a change, instead of just dodging. Scumtell, there. -

"Fine, I lost my temper when I should not have, but I have lost my desire to speak with you anymore. I did not come here expecting to see what I have, but I guess that some people just don't believe in the same kind of values that I was raised on. This may be your land, but that does not grant you divine privileges. I do not deny the terrible things done by orcish invaders during the war, but I'm dissappointed to have to remind a learned man like you that Cronk was not even born when these things happened, and to blame him for them is just downright stupid. Using any old orc as an object of your anger against his ancestors is wrong, and you must know it. What would Ennoc say? That you have acted this way to one of his own followers, would he thank you for this? Why don't I go and bully your children because of how you have irritated me this day? How does that sound to you?" Haldor breathed deeply again, he was more calm now "Listen to Cronk, hear him out, he deserves that. Speak to him for him, not for his great-grandparents. He is one of you, for the gods' sake, prove to me that you can be better than this, and I'll be happy to hold my hands up and say that I was wrong." -

Haldor spat angrily on the polished wood floor, walking over to the man with building rage. "Gods, why is it that you people seem to learn nothing but arrogance and prejudice from your oh so noble deity. You know, I was hoping that you lot would turn out to be just as righteous as you claim, but now I know that it isn't at all like that. You only believe in your own strict views, you will not accept anyone who believes differently, and you abuse and mistreat beings just because of the colour of their skin." Haldor stood up to his full height, and roughly jabbed the cleric in the chest with his finger. "In all my life, I've never known such a bunch of filthy hypocrites. First, you insult my gods, that have been with my kind as long as we can remember. You call them 'weak reflections' of your 'greater gods', you slander them as 'barbarians'?! So what about me, am I a barbarian for following them?! I, who have only ever tried to do what is right, am a thug and brute because I do not worship your damn Ennoc?! You say Thoric, a wise and peaceful judge who stands as what I would always aspire to be, is a 'distortion' of the great and kind Light? You are wrong, he would never stoop so low as to be compared to your god, twisted and malformed by those who claim to worship him." The Norseman tried to breath heavily, he was losing control of himself. But there was no love in his soul for those like the man who stood before him, racists were one of the things that Haldor just couldn't abide. "And what of Cronk, he is a member of your order, he walks in your ranks, yet you cannot even look at him. Why, because he is an orc? Or because you know the truth? He, the 'greenskin', is better than you. Cronk is twice the man you'll ever be, you Racist swine. I just pray that you're an isolated case in this Paladin order, lest the others be as bad as you." Haldor turned away in an attempt to stop himself from lashing out, this wasn't how he'd hoped the day would go. "Now, my friends, would be a good time to go, I'm tired of this. Shall we head off to the training ground?" -

Cough! Any particular reason why? Saying 'I'd like to hear from so-and-so!' isn't contributing, miss. Just trying to pass on the gaze from you to Phyllis over there with no reasoning is a very suspicious thing to do. So far these past days, you've done very little to actually help us here in our efforts, and part of me is saying that you don't want to. So please, tell us what you'd like to hear from Phyllis, before I set my mind up about you. -

Damn. Ian was one of our most helpful and outspoken allies, it's going to be difficult without him. But there are many things that we've got to go off for today. -

Haldor smiled politely, but behind his amiable expression, he was offended at this attempted conversion. "I thank you, sir, but I'm afraid that I cannot abandon my gods who have guided me so far. Those gods of my home in the north, they taught much of what I know, and inspired me to find a better life for myself; to leave them now would be a treachery beyond what I could stand. There is one, called by most of Nords as Riktvard the just, but we always knew him as Thoric, he is with me still. Not warlike or violent as Wartan and Torrik who you may know, but kind and fair. It is from him that I can heal in my way, that I came here to this fair isle with its many secrets, and that I am standing before you now at all. I can see what your god Ennoc has done for the world, but I could not stand here and forsake my past, my life and my upbringing to join your religon. But I thank you all the same." The Nord turned back to the others. "May I suggest the training ground next, folks?" -
I have to say, Etzel, just how beautiful that one scene is. The study is such a nice thing to look at, with all the details and shiny plates. And that doorframe!

"Hello Jorke, it's a nice place you got here. Cleric, you say? Is there anything a learned one such as you could teach a crude Nord healer like me? I only learnt what I could, and the rest I had from birth, but there wasn't much place for a man like back home." -

"You look fraught, is there something that I could do for you, your ladyship? Yes, we will deliver this message for you tommorrow with the upmost urgency. I thank you for your hospitality in letting us stay here, your ladyship." Haldor turned to the other heroes, waiting to hear what they had to say. -

"As Alexis here says, we have been given a task by the High Priestess herself, your ladyship. Cronk here is carrying a letter meant for your eyes only, and we are here to ensure that it reaches you safely" Haldor gestured toward his friend the Orc knight, and smiled. "Care to pass on the letter, Cronk?" -

"Hello there, young lady. We are here on official buisness, miss, so would you be so kind as to let us see the Priestess?" Haldor tapped his foot on the cobbles, whilst looking around amiably. He turned back to his friends. "I apologise for my silence, comrades, I just have a lot on my mind right now." -

Sandy, I have a question. What would happen if one were to imbue the powers of the scroll of luck into an artefact? Would the artefact become a permanent lucky-effect item, or would the scroll just reverse and create an immunity to the jinxed effect?

Hey folks. I recently re-watched Star Wars: Episode II on telly, and now I'm afraid to say that I'm in a serious Star Wars mood at the moment. Immeadiately, I dug out my LEGO Star Wars collection, but realised that I have an alarming lack of any good vehicles to play with admire. My question is, which Star Wars vehicle set would be a good buy for me right now? Preferably Prequel Trilogy, and within my budget of about £30 maximum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. -Scorpiox

"Well then. I think we're ready to be heading off now. We won't fail you, your ladyship, you can bet on that." Haldor turns to leave the forecourt of the temple with the others, keeping a close eye on the various priests and knights hanging around. After his last quest, the Nord couldn't help but feel wary of followers of Ennoc, having seen the very worst of the great god's minions all too close. -

"I am honoured to serve you and your order, your ladyship. I will try to complete this task to the best of my ability, and I know that I can trust my friends to do the same. My thanks to you. I suggest that Cronk here should be the one to carry this letter, as he is well-known to your organisation." Haldor checks his bag for all the supplies that he may need, and waits for the others to speak. Stats are good. -
"Hello again, Jess. I hope that you keep well while I've been whisked off again, make sure that you don't sit around waiting for my return." Haldor smiled. "I'm going to miss you, so here, take this to keep while I'm away." Haldor produced the now dull Diamond of Thoric from his pack, and handed it to his lover with a warm embrace. "To remind you that I'm never too far away to feel your warmth, look inside its surface, Jess, you can see us in the crystal. Have fun and don't get too drunk when I'm not here to put you to bed." The Nord gave her a quick kiss and then leant back in his chair, glancing at the man who was sat opposite the table. "I belive that this fellow is waiting for you, Jess, gods know what he wants. Been scheming with young Arthur, have you Thormanil?"
